Belly Up to the Bar With Bendy and Her Friendies!!! Button Pics & New Thread Started!

yeah but have you seen the Emerils Table 10 menu? and the only problem with Mandalay Bay is it's too far from the wine tasting.

wine tasting at 5, dinner at 8...it's doable

Brenda, Table 10 has a happy hour menu which also looks really cool

I had to take a look at that menu, and I think I found the BIRTHDAY MEAL!
:banana::banana::banana::banana:

But I have to ask you as a fellow Midwesterner who loves her cow products:
Which of the Japanese A5 steaks would you get? The NY strip or the filet? And I shudder to ask what Market Price means on those steaks. :scared1: But as I only turn 40 once, I will get one of them. I usually lean towards a filet, but I wanted your thoughts.

Well, 6 years ago, market price for the Kobe beef filet that DH got at Nob Hill at the MGM was $100....add for inflation, and I bet you are looking at a pretty penny. But like you said, you only turn 40 once, which was our attitude as well since we were there celebrating our 30th birthdays!

Jason and I went to Table 10 2 years ago before the Wine Spectator event! It was GREAT! Should have pictures on this thread way back..!!!

EDIT - Oh! I almost forgot! I found this link to AirTran $25 vouchers yesterday...

AirTran $25 Vouchers

It's a deal AirTran has with the Florida Tourism Board and the vouchers are good for travel to Florida up to December 18th. You can use one voucher per person, per flight. You would need to use a different email address to get each voucher. I already had my August airfare booked, but I was able to use these vouchers for our seat assignments... and will use more if we get to book a quickie October trip... (I haven't given up hope yet)

Have a great night!

Thank you!!

since we want to see Love I can see us pairing up Table 10 with that one since Palazzo and Mirage are relatively near each other. Hey I get to pick a restaurant too, I hope. Book the show at 7, happy hour at Table 10, wine and cheese bar at Mirage after the show. Why not.

Used my Airtran codes to put myself in exit row seats on a couple of my flights.

We want to try Table 10 next year ... it sounds yummy!

Ok, now I have to take a look at Emeril's Table 10 menu now...

...and I've looked at it. The items look fine, but Stripsteak grabbed my attention! We have to do Stripsteak one of the nights, but Table 10 is a good option to be close to the wine tasting. I found a couple things I wouldn't normally order and would be fine there.

what I want to know is what kind of recourse I have against a dealer that I think has deliberately messed up my car.

I've had this VW passat for six year and never had any trouble with it at all until I started taking it to this new VW dealership. The place I bought my car in 2003 is no longer in the VW business so I can't take it there for service. We've had all the recommended maintenance performed over the years and the car has been a dream until the last nine months when they started frigging with it.

They changed my oil at the end of May and now suddenly I have a part with a hole in it that was leaking oil all over the cooling system. So they "fixed" that and I picked my car up last night and all was right with the world.

Tried to drive to work this morning and the moment I accelerated on the highway the car began to shudder and felt like it was going to die right there on highway 70. I coaxed it ten miles to the dealership praying to the automotive gods that it wouldn't die on me because it was pretty obvious that it wouldn't start again.

So this morning they tell me the spark plugs are worn out and should be replaced every 40M miles. Funny, I responded ... you guys were supposed to have replaced then in December when I had my last tune up at 88M miles.

They didn't have an answer for that.

So I get to work at 10AM this morning and was releived that the car was running smoothly again ... until I tried to get gas this afternoon. It lasted all of two minutes in traffic before it started shaking and shuddering again.

I was furious.

Called Jay and asked him to pick me up when he left work. Called AAA to have the car towed to the dearlership (20+ miles from my office). Called the dealership and b ------ a storm.

I asked them to their faces this afternoon how I could ever have any level of comfort or confidence that my car was going to operate properly after they "fixed" it for the third time in one week and they just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language.

"we'll take care of it for you, don't worry."

What the hell does that mean? They're going to pour it into concrete like Jimmy Hoffa and bury it under a football goalpost???

At this point I'd just like them to fix it so that it runs long enough for me to get to another dealer and trade it in for a new car, which was not in the budget this year. But neither was paying for upwards of four F&W events.

End automotive rant. :scared:

How frustrating!:headache::mad::headache:
I've wondered more than once (as I've left after paying $$$ for repairs) if their next step is to hop on the phone and say,"Honey, call the travel agent. We can book that two weeks in Cancun!" :rolleyes1

Here's hoping they got the message that you expect it to be done right and they put full efforts into get your car repaired properly.

The food is amazing there, isn't it? It's one of those particularly wonderful, but slightly understated, restaurants. Warm, inviting, not over the top. The food and service were just first rate.
I want to go back in Nov. We'll be at the other end of the strip, but I think to save time we'll just grab a cab. And...we'll be there in a Friday, so we'll stop at the tasting at Double Helix, and then enjoy our dinner. :goodvibes

Pair Stripsteak with Lion King - they're both in Mandalay Bay.

They have a 4pm showtime on weekends. So it looks good to do the show first on Saturday, then chow down at our leisure.

Compleatly agree with what you said about Table 10! We also loved Enoteca San Marco at the Venetian by Mario Batali! Great food and Wine - good prices for Vegas! You have to eat inside. Out is too loud!

Here is a Table 10 food pic!

That is Blue Crab Salad - Calamari - and Fries! ;)

San Marco - Apps!

You can see some of the cheese plate!

Sounds good, but I guess no Double Helix wine bar if we're doing Happy Hour at Table 10. Not that it's a bad thing, but it means choosing one vs. the other. I think the Mirage wine and cheese bar might balance the scales over the loss, though. ;)

Thanks, Chelsi, for the Table 10 pics! That's not a bad compromise for my birthday. I don't have to have my "event" meal on my birthday if I am getting tons of good food all those days. :)

EVENT WEEK! It didn't take one day to get you here .. You should have at least an event week! :cutie:

LOL! That was my justification for having a week-long birthday celebration at WDW in years' past. Disney always has those 15-month "year" long events, so I guess we all deserve a week! :rotfl2:

I just thought I'd let you know that I am in a slight state of mourning...

Yet again... another one of my ex-boyfriends has gotten married...

We will be having a pity party for at least... three days...

The "I wasn't good enough" cocktail party will be followed by the "I don't care if you tell me he wasn't the one" hangover.

Seeing as it was NOT me... I will NOT be registered anywhere except the pharmacy where my Valium comes from.

There will be a moment of silence in between my sobs...

Don't bother to RSVP... I will be the one with my head between 2 pillows until at least noon tomorrow...

Thank you very much...

& Hey...

Have a nice day... :upsidedow

So sorry to hear that:hug: Hope you're feeling better!

Hello All -

Sorry to be gone forever as usual - 4 days before the 4th our oldest cat (6 1/2) tried to jump to high and after two emergency runs to the vet we found out she hurt her knee. So we have been in kitty quieting, med giving, party throwing, in-law staying, sink break HELL! Needless to say we only have a couple pictures from the 4th and no one took pics of the FOOD! :scared1:

Food Set up - It was a Breakfast Burrito Bar and I did a Mango Lemonade Mimosa!

Hope your kitty is feeling better. The Breakfast Burrito Bar and Mango Lemonade Mimosas sound great:thumbsup2

I have to share with you all some new developments for my 40th birthday coming up in November. I've booked my airfare, which was at a great rate, thanks to some help from a friend! Where am I going?

Viva Las Vegas!

:banana::banana::banana:

Sounds like a great way to celebrate your 40th! Seems like you've got lots of great plans!

Thank you ladies for all the kind words. Looks like my mom will be going into surgery this afternoon. I have to head up to the hospital in a bit so I can see her and comfort her before she goes in. She was told it will be an easy procedure and that maybe she can go home tomorrow night or Saturday depending on how she progresses.

Hope your mom's surgery went well. Sending some  your way.

Here's some birthday pixie dust from me too, Kathy! Hope you have a great day!

Happy Birthday Kathy!

I'm working from home now ... my car still isn't fixed even after I was told last night and then again this morning that it was. We're very unhappy with the dealership and are beginning to think that they are either a bunch or incompetents or are deliberately mucking up my car to keep their kids at summer camp or some such thing.

Not happy not happy not happy especially after dropping $1M there last night when I picked my car up. :headache:

Stinks that you're still having car troubles. Hope it all gets resolved soon:goodvibes

Elin, that sounds great.....I wish we had a Wegman's here, or a Trader Joes's or Whole Foods that was less than an hour away, but that's what I get for living in an almost cultural wasteland. The best we've got is Fresh Market and an Earth Fare, which are great, but nothing like the others.

I love Wegman's. We've had them around here for a while now. I am very excited that they will finally be opening a Trader Joe's by me this summer:banana::banana: Can't wait for that. Nearest one right now is about an hour away.

That's incidental ... what I was also told today is that their deadline to finalize programming for the F&W festival is August 1st. Take that for what it's worth but it's in keeping with the last few years, isn't it?

10 days to plan???

Again. :confused3

Good to know, thanks for the update! But yes, not much time to plan...

Brenda, so sorry about all the car trouble! Did you pay with a visa? If you did, you can challenge the charges, since services were not provided as implied. We had to do this last year with the lame dry-wall guy and Visa sided with us and we did not have to pay the charges. If you need to, PM me and I'll give you details on what to do.

On a lighter note, DH decided to tell me last night that he does not want to stay at DL till midnight and does not want to have to be at the park the next day at 8 a.m. WTH? He wants to get some "sleep" on vacation! :rotfl: I told him he would have a week of sleep into the vacation before hitting Disney and reminded him that the tickets for just 2 days are over $400! :scared1: We decided to compromise and see the 9 p.m. Fantasmic and keep the Minnie breakfast at 8:10 the next morning. Men!

The wine bar tasting would have to be Friday, we're looking at Love (and Table 10) for Thursday, not Friday. I see Double Helix will give you a wineglass if you do the Friday tasting - now I want to try to do it.

Your Friday looks to be wiiiide open unless you decide you want a show that day - we are leaving it showless on purpose for now

Then you've got the Lion King 4 PM which I think is just Saturdays and Sundays so we'd need to do that Saturday - make a reservation for your steak place about 7:30 Saturday and eat there at leisure after the show. Don't know how far out they take reservations but LK is not selling tickets for November yet.

I've been to Enoteca San Marco too! The cheese was awesome
