Like them, hate them, find them sexy, think they are cool?? What's your opinion? I like them and have thought about getting one from time to time. (Just don't tell my mom! :p )

I have one, and I really like it. I did it about 2 years ago and haven't had a minute's trouble with it.

They're just another unattractive fad, in my opinion.

I've had mine pierced for 5 years now..never had a problem with it.

I also currently have 14 earrings and I used to have my eyebrow pierced...most people consider all that "trashy"...however I feel utterly naked w/o all my earrings as I've had them for almost 10 years.

If I was 19 and still had a 21 inch waist, I'd get one. But I'm not and I don't, so I won't. :smooth:

I got one about 7 or 8 years ago... as soon as I was legal =) I thought they were rebellious enough for me, but un-noticeable to most and not permanent. Seemed like the perfect teenage act of rebellion for me to try out =)

In the end, I kept it until about a year ago, when one end of the barbell came off, and I didnt have time to get a replacement ring before it closed up. I just let it close... didn't matter to me then.

I dont necessarily think they're sexy... or gross, either. Just a personal preference, thing. I would rather my teenager have that done than a permament tatoo or more noticeable piercing.

Not crazy about the look, and I wouldn't want my daughters to get that sort ofpiercing.

If she really MUST do something like that, Claire's sells clip-on belly rings.

I love bellybutton rings! It's something I never thought I'd do because I've never been the type. When my sister got hers done 2 years ago, I thought it looked cute, and 2 days later decided to get one for myself.

I got it done in September of 2002, and had a few problems with it about a year later. I took it out to put a different one in, and I couldn't get it back in. So I got it repierced in September 2003. It's been over 6 months so a few weeks ago I was gonna take it out and put a new one in, but I just can't unscrew the top! No matter how hard I try I can't get it off because they screwed it so tight. I guess I'm gonna be stuck with this one in for awhile, but it's ok because I like it.

also - piercings are not permanent. remember that - the holes close up with little to no scar.

i have a slight scar on my eyebrow - but that's it. This was the only piercing I got "permission" from my parents to do way back then - just because it was the face.

I like my belly button - but i love my tattoo more.

still a rebel after all these years.

Okay, so for the big question.... Does it hurt to get one?

I think they are gross and I would never get one or let my dd get one.

As a person who has a strict opinion on earrings belonging just in ones ears. I must say during this trip to Disney I did see some very tasteful, delicate belly button rings that I thought were attractive.

But they were also on 20-30 yr olds with a body that made it attractive.

I personally would never get one. I'm in the same situation as gymnasticsmom68.

Okay, so for the big question.... Does it hurt to get one?

Yeah, it hurt. At the place I went to, they used a pair of surgical clamps to grab the skin, and IMO that hurt more than the actual needle stick. In any case, it was exactly 3 seconds of pain, and then it was over. I've never had my ears pierced, but I don't imagine it hurt any worse than that would.

I've had my ears pierced, but it was a long time ago, so I don't really remember it hurting much. Thanks for the info, Maleficent!

I have one and I like it... it's actually out right now becaue my stomach is the size of a beachball but I'll put it back in as soon as I can :)

I've had to have mine done 3 times (one i took it out for surgery and it closed, once the ring fell out and i didn't notice and it closed). It's not really that bad, but I have a high pain tolerance :)

I find them ugly, and disgusting. My sister went through a phase where she wanted one, but my parents said no and she never got one. She's happy she didn't. My brother's girlfriend just got one and I find it worse on her. She's overweight, and now wheres bellyshirts to show it off. She's nice and all, but belly-shirts on overweight people are not my idea of tasteful or good looking. I'm not one on pain, and I would never EVER get this done. I have my ears pierced once and no more earrings, no tattoos...no nothing well ever be on my body besides earrings in my ears.

I'm wincing at the thought. It sounds so painful!

I'm not a fan of piercings. One hole in each ear lobe is all the piercing I ever had or wanted. But as was said by someone else, at least you take the "ear"ring out when the fad goes away and not be left with a permanent scar (like a tatoo).

I LOVE them!! If I wasn't afraid of needles, I would've had one last summer!!!:teeth:

I used to not like them, but as they have become more main stream, I have gotten over it. I would love to have my navel pierced, but just haven't gotten around to it. I do have 7 holes in one ear and 3 in the other and a nipple piercing, and 2 tattoos. For me, the answer is no, it didn't hurt. I got my 3rd holes in my ears almost 27 years ago, before it was fashionable, for sure. I am not a fan of larger holes in peoples ears, not do I like eyebrow or nose piercings, but to reach his own. What ever reason people have for doing it, it is not any of my concern, nor is what I do anyone elses.
