26th Oct , Weds, Day 5

We went for breakfast in style again this morning in the A LA CArte and were waited on. John ordered practically everything off the menu whilst the girls and I had, you guessd it, bacon, hash brown, pancakes and syrup!!! You are starting to witness the reason why when we got to Disney, breakfasts were not interesting anymore!!!.

We disembarked the ship and boy was it hot! high 90's but quite a dry heat. We slapped on the suncream and starting looking at all the jewellery shops. There is another chain out here called Diamonds International and they offer free gifts to passengers on the ships. So I go in with my voucher and come out with a 14ct gold charm bracelet for one of the girls. Alex grabs it first and Georgia has her first huff of the holiday. Not a probelm I tell her. We have the same voucher for the same store in St Thomas as well, so she will get one also. Happy with that I take a wonder into a store that is beckoning me. Well..... I came, I saw, I conquered!!! I fell in love with this pink sapphire and diamond ring. The sales asst did a good pitch and convinced me that I needed the earrings to match. Of course I did!!!! so $870 lighter. I know, but when in Rome. This was certainly not something that I had budgeted for as we were not originally supposed to be coming to these Islands. John was very good and agreed that it was a good deal. This ring is worth double back home, so a great investment I tell him! The guy in the shop also gave the girls a 14ct gold blue sapphire pendant each. Now you can't grumble at that. OK, OK, I feel I have justified my purchase enough.

We nip back to the ship to freshen up and then get back to the port to start our excursion to Little Divi beach. It was only a 15 min taxi ride from the port and once there, we got our beach chairs and umbrella. The only thing I don't like about these trips, and I remembered it from holidays with my parents in the caribbean when I was a teenager, was the sellers on the beach who try and start selling you stuff before you have even sit down. I had forgotten just how blue the sea really is. Absolutley stunning. The girls are immediately in the sea. Amy and I have arrived together so we pitch our chairs near eachother so we can chat. We go and get a cocktail and purchase it in a monkey coconut for an extra $7. It made a nice souvenir and is staring at me now. LOL. John decides that he wants to try a jet-ski. He has not done this before. Off he goes and pays $40 for 1/2 an hour. He has a great time and I get some good film of him. The 4 hours goes really quickly and its time to get back to port. The ship leaves at 7pm. OOH forgot to mention the girls had their hair braided by a local woman on the beach. $2 a braid. Thats ok I thought. Once again, SUCKER!!! She braided such small plaits that the girls had nearly 40 in each. Thats right you do the math. 40x2x2 OH MY GOD. $160

Thats right they have nothing else for the rest of the holiday. Yeah Right!!!

Still reeling from the shock we head back to the ship. Have a lovely dinner and the girls want to see the magic show tonight. I don't really like magic shows so John takes the girls and I go back and try to read some more of Pride & Predjudice. I have started a book club back home and this is the 1st book we chose to read. Struggling with it a bit, so nice to have some peace and quiet.

Off to St Thomas and dreaming of pink sapphires. Don't let me near them tomorrow. We haven't even got to Disney yet.!!!!

You're certainly doing well with your budget then :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Love the sound of that clear blue water and the pink sapphire ring. What a great combo :teeth:

The jewellery sounds lovely. Tony bought me a fab Tanzanite and Diamond ring in Aruba - he nearly passed out at the price but it was cheaper by far than buying it here. I love the Caribbean as everything is so cheap.

Glad you found Diamonds International, they are a fab store. Dh bought a Watch there and we saw the same one in Finnies the jewellers at home and it was almost double the price we payed! Looking forward to the next trippie!

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Lovely report. Do you know you can buy jewelery on port excursions :)

I must invite you next time I have a Virgin Vie party or something similar :rolleyes1

Great report!

Virgin Vie...Don't get me started......:Love it.. I don't relish the thought of making Mr Branson any richer though. :rotfl:

Shame there's no more Tupperware parties over here

You made a great choice! I have a pink sapphire engagement ring, not only does it look nice it is also quite unusual. I'm lead to believe that there are only a couple of mines left that produce pink sapphires so you can also think of it as an investment! :Pinkbounc

Great Day, I bought myself a pink sapphire ring in Florida about 2 years ago. Its a lovely stone. On to the next I go.
