Does anyone have any experience in Bellingham Washington? We are consdiering going there. Have never been. And just want opinions if anyone has one. Thanks!

Being from Vancouver Canada, we used to go there in the 60's & 70's for the great American shopping. Now they have a good mall there, Bellis Fair.

There is a quaint historical part called "Fair Haven." There is a beautiful drive called "Chuckanut Drive."

I don't know too much else because I have only spent the afternoon there.

Yeah, I live there. What kind of info you looking for? It really depends on the time of year that you're going and what you want to see.

That is about what I know. :teeth:
And we have departed from whale watching from there.....twice. A lot of fun.

I live in Bellingham. I agree with a previous poster about Fairhaven. It's a really nice area to spend a day. What kind of info are you looking for?

:) Do any of the islands have beach type areas? My kids like the actual beach for beachcombing and wondered if there is anything even sort of like that. If not how far is the trip to the actual coast? Also, what is winter like there? THANK YOU!

I honestly haven't really been out in the islands much. I think some have "beach" type areas, but they're not like what you'd find in California or Hawaii. If you've been to the Oregon Coast they'd be kind of like that. They're not super long stretches of beach either. The San Juans can be difficult to navigate unless you rent a boat. There is ferry service to some parts of the islands. The ferry service varies from season to season.

Bellingham actually sits on Bellingham Bay, so that's right on the coast.

If you go up more North to Birch Bay, they have Birch Bay state park which will have beaches and stuff to play on, plus you can camp there. And it's also on the coast. That's a really nice area.

Winter is well, fairly rainy, never really goes much below 30 degrees which isn't too bad. We can get hit with snow.

Larabee state park is nice too, you might want to stop there.

Fairhaven is fun.

Might want to go to the Parks and Recreation website, they have park maps on there. Little Squalicum Beach has rocks and stuff for "beachcombing."

I'll have to put my mind to work to think of anything else.

Mt. Baker can be nice and it's a nice drive up there. Depending on the season, the skiing/snowboarding is incredible.

If you give us some more info about when you're planning on coming and stuff, I think I can give you more ideas.
