Bell services no longer accept deliveries at disney hotels

Not sure why anyone would be in favor of this or think that Disney is acting as a personal delivery service. The Bottom line, I could see them charging for the service, but the reality with the restrictions that the airlines have on flying with liquids like toiletries makes this a little more complicated for many reasons. One, my family and I like to fly down for long weekends and we don't usually check bags. Not checking bags means you can't bring any toiletries with you in a carry on. Shipping them via Amazon worked great. Who wants to get down there and have to go shopping or better yet, purchase them from a Disney hotel. Secondly, even if you are checking bags, who wants to weigh down their luggage and run the risk of leaks, seems this process will just complicate packing and flying.

And to think someone is going to order stuff to the hotel and wait around for the delivery (FED EX, UPS) to hand deliver it to you, doesn't even make sense. They don't have specific times for delivery. Going to Disney is a first class vacation and you are paying for the convenience of things (as we know, Disney tries to accommodate everyone). Being able to ship things directly to your room or hotel should be an extra fee on your room charges, but it shouldn't be something that is prohibited....And i could see them saying you cant get it delivered prior to your check in date. That makes sense. They shouldn't have to sit on the packages for days.

I also have the locker. But we usually replenish by shipping more toiletries and stuff down while we are there and add them to the locker for next time.
LOL Sure you can bring toiletries in carry-on. If you fly often, you should know that.

It isn't prohibited. You just need to take time to meet your driver, at your convenience, not Disney's.

I'm kind of on the fence about this. I don't need a stroller or a mobility device and my trips are long enough that waiting around during a delivery window isn't a big deal to me. I can see how inconvenient this would be for many people and every time Disney reduces services you're only left to wonder what's next.

I'm sure these services will come up with a workable solution. Personally, I've met a Amazon Now driver and it was convenient. The phone ap let me know she was on the way and where she was. I knew the moment she drove up it was her.

I wonder if this could turn into a side hustle for someone. Offer to be the "last mile" delivery service. For a fee ($25/delivery?) people sign up, have their good delivered to a local address, and that person brings it to the hotel at a specific scheduled time. $25 would still be cheaper than what the airlines charge, and since it's a scheduled delivery time, you're not wasting hours waiting around for it.

It's probably not worth the $25 given how much time and gas it would take someone to wait for a package, arrange a time and place with the person receiving it, delivering it etc. They'd also need the space to store it. Come to think of it, there already are places like this - they're called grocery stores. ;)

Well, the $25 was just a guess. On second thought, it wouldn't really be a side hustle for someone, but maybe a retiree... accept deliveries, group them together by resort, then make deliveries. I'm sure things could be figured out. Make four deliveries in an hour and that's $100. Maybe $5-10 in gas, some wear and tear on the car...

If anyone is going to pay $25 for this, why not just get in a Lyft and go buy the stuff yourself?

Or like, buy all your snacks and pack them in one bag that you check on your plane (without liquids) and have it delivered to your door with the rest of your luggage? What's the benefit of shipping snacks to a hotel unless it's basically an entire 7-11 you're having delivered?

We have been doing exactly this for 20+ years!! Fill a suitcase full of food, check it on the plane and be good to go with snacks etc. Years ago when we stayed at the All Stars before they had fridges in the room, I checked a cooler on the plane. Once in the room, we would fill it with ice so we could have cold drinks in the room.

How did you ensure that the cooler stayed closed when you luggage checked it on the plane? Just curious

The onus is on the vendors to figure out a workable solution for them/their customers. I posted on another thread that perhaps the companies will institute several daily drop times and customers will have to choose one of them to meet the vendor (if you miss your meet up you will have to reschedule). Or something like that.

When we check the cooler, the worker tapes the cover. Years ago, I taped it at home, but then the worker un-taped it to look inside, so now I always let them tape it.

I don't bring a cooler to Disney anymore, but every other year we do western NP trips, and I always check a cooler for those trips, so we can have a cooler in our rental van.

I have checked a cooler probably 40+ times and have never had a problem.

Then you pay for that bag both directions... even if it goes back empty. $25 would be cheaper than paying just one direction.

In some ways I am happy because as a normal bell service customer. You know the one that drops luggage off when checking in or out because my room is not ready. I often have to wait because Bell services are busy dealing with deliveries. I think it was just a cost factor Disney realized they were spending too much of their own resources being a delivery service for external vendors. And not being able to actually serve their hotel guests for hotel services.

That is what I think too.

And not being able to actually serve their hotel guests for hotel services. It is unique and I believe Disney resorts are the only hotels I’ve ever observed they have to deal with these extra type of external deliveries AND not charge a fee

Of course the exception are hotels that deal with meeting and conventions there there’s actually a fee usually to except packages so maybe in the future Disney can charge that say $25 to accept your ECV being delivered for you.
But if they are indeed just kicking out the current vendors and replacing them with a different "preferred" vendor (keep hearing that but not absolutely sure) that wouldn't really change anything in this regard.

I'm surprised it lasted this long. Why should Disney's bell service waste Disney time and Disney money accept and store deliveries from anyone other than Disney? Sure they'll store guests bags. But why should they store water and food delivered from Walmart indefinitely and undercut their own selves in the process?
