I can share a similar story from last week. We were watching the Symphony in the Sky fireworks from just outside the sitting area for Min and Bills in Hollywood Studios. The fireworks were amazing, but seemed a little "close." About 3/4 the way through I realize that I am being pelted with ash from the fireworks. About the same time, my 14 year old niece stars crying that a firework was in her eye and it was stinging her. The finale was so loud I couldn't really make out what was wrong. I got out a pile of Kleenex, soaked them in water from a bottle I was holding, and told her to hold it to her eye. By that time the fireworks had ended.
We made our way over to the first gift shop and stopped out side under the light so that I could look into her eye. Almost immediately, a CM from the gift shop came up and asked us what was wrong. I told him I thought she got ash from a firework in her eye. He said "follow me" and took us to a manager. The manager asked if I wanted them to call the paramedics. I said I thought she just needed to flush her eye with some water. He escorted us to First Aid. We immediately went in to an examination room where a nurse checked her eye with a bright light. She said she saw nothing in the eye and thought that the tears had washed it out. But just to make sure, she used an eye wash kit. She then gave me 4 vials of single use eye drops and said to use them tonight and in the morning. Last, she gave me a brochure about a immediate care center that would pick us up at our hotel if we needed further assistance later.
Meanwhile, another CM was talking to my other two nieces in the waiting room. As we were getting ready to leave she asked us to wait a minute while she got us some water. She returned quickly with water for all of us plus two plush baby animals (Lady and Marie) for my 14 and 11 year old nieces. They might look too old for stuffed animals but they were thrilled. The 14 year old left First Aid with eyes red and swollen from crying, but with a big smile on her face! I also give them a lot of credit for bringing something for the younger sister as well.
Anyway, I am as exasperated as the rest of you regarding all the price increases and cuts, but in this one occasion, I saw the "old" Disney magic in action. Unfortunately, I didn't get anyone's names but those cast members could not have handled our situation any better! Good job!!!
