Believe me when I say that the magic is far from dead!!

great story! and thank you for sharing. sorry to hear about your sick baby but this story just reconfirms why we always vacation in disney and why the people that ask us why we keep going back will never understand!

Amazes me too how some people can get treated like this and others get treated terrible...we too had a crisis a few years back and Disney couldnt care less...we were never offered any compensation either...blows my mind...does it depend on what mood Disney are in? seriously.

I think the variables are the CMs/their level of experience and training, and the available resources.

Thank you for sharing your story, so nice to hear about how the CMs went above and beyond! Hope you are feeling better!

I know it's a double edged sword to talk about amazing experiences at Disney, because it results in some people expecting this treatment. I definitely don't think it's across the board, but we too have had amazing pixie dust moments as well. When it does happen, it's very special.

This post is a very refreshing one in contrast to some of the ones complaining about the most minute issues (IMO).

Hope you and your daughter are feeling better!!

I cried my way through your post. This is the BEST thing I've read in a long time, and I read a lot of wonderful experiences on this board.

First off, I feel SO bad that Lilli had to be that sick, and at Disney World. Throwing up is THE WORST. And I can't imagine feeling that way out of the comforts of your home. Poor thing. But, to read what the team at WDW did for you and your family- well - that is just absolutely incredible. Heart-warming- thoughtful- and they went above and beyond to make a horrible day, happy.

Thank you for posting that. Made my night.

I can share a similar story from last week. We were watching the Symphony in the Sky fireworks from just outside the sitting area for Min and Bills in Hollywood Studios. The fireworks were amazing, but seemed a little "close." About 3/4 the way through I realize that I am being pelted with ash from the fireworks. About the same time, my 14 year old niece stars crying that a firework was in her eye and it was stinging her. The finale was so loud I couldn't really make out what was wrong. I got out a pile of Kleenex, soaked them in water from a bottle I was holding, and told her to hold it to her eye. By that time the fireworks had ended.

We made our way over to the first gift shop and stopped out side under the light so that I could look into her eye. Almost immediately, a CM from the gift shop came up and asked us what was wrong. I told him I thought she got ash from a firework in her eye. He said "follow me" and took us to a manager. The manager asked if I wanted them to call the paramedics. I said I thought she just needed to flush her eye with some water. He escorted us to First Aid. We immediately went in to an examination room where a nurse checked her eye with a bright light. She said she saw nothing in the eye and thought that the tears had washed it out. But just to make sure, she used an eye wash kit. She then gave me 4 vials of single use eye drops and said to use them tonight and in the morning. Last, she gave me a brochure about a immediate care center that would pick us up at our hotel if we needed further assistance later.

Meanwhile, another CM was talking to my other two nieces in the waiting room. As we were getting ready to leave she asked us to wait a minute while she got us some water. She returned quickly with water for all of us plus two plush baby animals (Lady and Marie) for my 14 and 11 year old nieces. They might look too old for stuffed animals but they were thrilled. The 14 year old left First Aid with eyes red and swollen from crying, but with a big smile on her face! I also give them a lot of credit for bringing something for the younger sister as well.

Anyway, I am as exasperated as the rest of you regarding all the price increases and cuts, but in this one occasion, I saw the "old" Disney magic in action. Unfortunately, I didn't get anyone's names but those cast members could not have handled our situation any better! Good job!!!

Thank you so much for sharing this! Your poor granddaughter -- bless her heart! That had to be miserable. But wow on all the magic. Disney definitely took care of you! What an amazing story. Hope you're feeling better soon as well.

It amazes me how people can read the original post and totally ignore the plight of the family and the child involved and proceed to give their story as to how they were not "compensated" or were "ignored". How rude ! If I had to go through what these people had to, I would have been very upset and WDW did great in trying to lessen the angst of the situation. On the flip side, people come to "expect" that WDW do similar responses for every single situation. Nothing should ever be expected, as it is not required. I am glad that the little girl was able to feel well enough to travel home.

Major goosebumps! Thanks for sharing this wonderful story. It really shows that Disney magic is alive and well.

Day #3 for me with this terrible Disney virus. Do yourself a favor and do a lot of hand washing while you're in the World!

Hope you're all well now. I'm so glad you were treated so kindly by everyone. That's the magic of Disney!!
