Are there any tricks to being picked to be on a float in any of the parades?

Is there an age for children?

Can't think of a parade that actually allows guests to be ON the floats. They do select families to serve as honorary Grand Marshall for the parade, but this process is completely random. At park opening, when there are dozens of CMs roaming the Main Street area, one of them will be charged with finding the day's parade GM. You can't find this person on your own or ask to be the GM.

Some of the parades will involve children from the audience. Characters that are on foot will sometimes take children by the hand and dance around for a few moments. If this is what you're looking for, the best advice I can give is to make sure you are sitting in the first row along the street. This could mean staking-out your place an hour or two ahead of time, but that's the price you have to pay.

Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade has guests on the floats. It seems to me this is your best bet for being in a parade because they seem to choose a LOT of guests to participate.

Hi - friends of ours were picked as the Grand Marshalls for the MK parade. They were told the reason why they were picked was that they had a great "fun" attitude about being in the park while it was raining cats and dogs. They were dancing on Main Street and splashing around in the puddles when they were approached and asked to join in as leaders of the parade. As if the parade wasn't enough they were allowed to go on any ride with no wait for the rest of their stay that day in the MK!! They had a ball!! :p

Just returned last night from WDW. My boyfriend and I were chosen to be on the Mickey float in the Jammin' Jungle Parade. We were just sitting in Tusker House eating a late lunch (around 3) and 2 CM's came up to us and asked if we'd like to participate. It was so much fun. We got to go backstage and take pictures with the characters. They gave us a disposable camera to use on the parade route and then bottles of water when we returned to the staging area at the endo f the parade.

We were Grand Marshalls in the stars and motor cars parade at MGM. What fun! We really just got lucky, one of the moments that just happen, you can't look for the magic, it finds you.
