Being "Bumped" From the Poly

I have reservations at the Polynesian for Oct 22-30 and have not yet received a phone call. I am concerned however since when I look for concierge availability online, I am told that there are no concierge rooms available anywhere. I wonder if CRO has rooms set aside already for those that are bumped - and if they have all resorts available (i.e. I am not willing to move to WL concierge or AKL concierge as our entire trip is planned around ease of access to MK and Epcot). We really had our hearts set on the Polynesian so this is very disappointing news.

I am very concerned now that our trip will be cancelled. We already have airfair and MSSSHP tickets purchased so I will be very upset if this happens. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks.

According to the original post:
" receieved a call on Monday and was told they will be rehab'ing the rooms of the CL from Sept 17- Nov 2, so they are unavailable"

Thanks, Liz. I did see that but have also read Oct. 10 as the end date. I think Ursalasmyhero works in that area so I was wondering if she had any clarifiaction. You know how different reports can be. :confused3

Oh absolutely but I was thinking that since she had received a call - and this is the first poster I have read who has been contacted from concierge regarding this that perhaps these would be the real dates.

Also to the poster above who is concerned about concierge availability because you aren't seeing ANY online - typically when something like this happens and they have to move blocks of people they freeze all the rooms they need to get everyone moved and then will reopen them up.

I would not worry about the trip being cancelled as there will be rooms somewhere and it should at least be a lateral move if not a move up.

We have ressies for mid-October at POLY LVC and after reading the original post about the dates I got nervous (again!) I called the IPO office for the POLY and someone called me back this afternoon...and I've forgotten her name already but she was so sweet and patient and helpful!!!! She told me that right now the rehab is scheduled for 9/17-10/10 and that we won't be affected. BUT she also said that this is subject to change (as we all know) and that it has been changed at least four times already. I asked if there would be POLY concierge available during the rehab but just in a different building and she said no, there would be no concierge and everyone affected would be given options of moving to a different concierge hotel or to a regular POLY room. This is the first time that I have talked to anyone that seemed to have an idea of how the rehab would work. I had been told before that they weren't sure if part of the Hawaii building would remain open or if they would move concierge to another building. But this is the first time anyone has said there would not be concierge service. She either knows more than the other CMs that I've talked to or at least appears to know! :goodvibes

Knowing that all projects like this generally run over their budgeted time frame I, too, am concerned about our plans! :sad2:

I thought I had seen posts about being moved with the 10/10 date but I could easily be confused. You're probably right since travel is your business I guess. :sunny:

So I guess we'll probably be getting a call. :sad1:

Didn't see your post when I was typing but you've given me hope again! Thanks for the report.

Ok, I may have thrown too many numbers out there in the first post. Here is how the whole thing is working.

1. I had booked AAA rate $348.00 at the Poly CL

2. Disney contacted me to tell me about the rehab ( I may have gotten the dates mixed up with regard to the end of the work.) and offered to put me in any other concierge level at the same $348 per night.

3. I chose GF at first, but later realized that this was going to be Sugarloaf, and we were really going after that 8-10 service, since we will be with our 2.5 yo daughter and wanted some sort of evening entertainment.

4. Called back to try to switch to RPC, but was told that the price difference between my rate of $348 & RPC was too great. (from what I could see Sugarloaf was running about $3800 and RPC about $4400. I was offered 14th floor at Contemp & accepted that.

5. On my reservation online, the total for the Contemp 14th floor actually is shown as $4640.00 minus my 1 night deposit of $388. My balance due is about 1100.

In conclusion, I feel I have hit the Disney lottery. I am thrilled to be in 14th CL since I wasn't really excited about GF as we have stayed there and it's not really our style. I am only paying my original rate of $348.00 per night. Disney definitely did the right thing, I was just surprised that they ended up booking me in a room that seems to have a higher rack rate than RPC, as well as much less availability. Beats Me!!

rxlowry ~ Just curious about your AAA rate. Were you supposed to have Poly lagoon view or Poly garden view at that rate? (Hope you don't mind me asking.)

:rotfl2: OK well if your happy, I am happy for you!!! :wizard:

Evening entertainment? Huh? There's no entertainment at ANY CL.

Anne

By entertainment...a place to grab a drink and a dessert close to our room as one of us will have to stay there while our dd sleeps.
Entertainment has certainly changed for us since having a baby!

Nope sorry hon. My friend does and when something comes up, I ask her about it. *grin* She's a great source of info.

C'mon Anne ~ watching the pajama people hoard P&J sandwiches is entertainment :rotfl:

Chris, I understood your post about evening entertainment as I do consider the GF orchestra playing on the balcony below RPC to be entertaining. Plus there is children sized furniture and a tv that showcases Disney movies.

Yes, it seems that it's lifes little pleasures that excite us now! I have confirmed that we will be in a king room, so that means MK view...perfect for watching the fireworks with DD without being so close to scare her. Plus, being within walking distance to the MK should come in handy. BTW, about how long does it take from door to gate to walk to MK? We are very excited to be able to experience the 14th floor! :Pinkbounc

OK, you've got me there ROFL!!

Arent the 14th concierge rooms smaller than the regular CR rooms? No daybed and less square foot right? We were going to stay there a few years ago, but we needed the daybed. Just something to consider.
