I've never had a beignet. Are they like a cookie or pastry? Also, do you love them? Most people I hear mention them seem to absolutely love them.

They're neither cookie-like nor pasty-like. They are a square (roughly 3"x3") of flour that is deep fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar. They puff up in the oil. And they are delicious.

To me they are cross between a nice soft roll and a doughnut. Not overly sweet, but just a bit. And absolutely delicious.

They are delicious. They kind of a like a harder doughnut with sugar on them. They are very yummy. :)

I love them. I make them--it's a simple yeast dough that you fry. When I was growing up in NY, we called them zeppoles. I guess that's the Italian version.

I would say they are closer to a doughnut and they are WONDERFUL!

When we stayed at PO for our first WDW trip we had beignets the first morning and then we couldn't stop. Every morning after that while I was getting ready DH ran down to the food court to get some to go. Yum! :)

Yes! That is what we called them.

If you are going to get them at POFQ, prepare yourself to get messy ~ I had powdered sugar all over me, even in my hair!

they are kind of like something we call fried biscuits. They are like a fried yeast roll with powdered sugar. yummmmm. I know the grocery stores around here sell the mix.

No one makes beignets like the Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans (at least IMO)! :goodvibes Just thinking about them makes me crave some.

Oh boy, I'm glad I asked. We are planning on a trip to WDW summer '06 and are planning on staying at the FQ. I can't wait to have them. I have had Zeppoles, I didn't realize they were the same or similar, yum. I have heard of Cafe DuMont. Now I'm hungry. :)

Oh my goodness they are so GOOD!!

I have also had them at the Underground in Atlanta.

LOVE THEM! We had a great place near us but it went out of business around the 1st of the year :(

Yummmm. I love them. if you ever get the chance, go to New Orleans and have one in the original Cafe Du Monde.

They are a doughy thing that you traditionally put confectioners sugar on.

On our way home from our December trip to DW (Dec 20-29) we stopped in New Orleans for the night. We got up the next morning and went to Cafe Dumonde for some with coffee au lait for breakfast. It was a pretty nice way to finish our trip.

I love them! The first time I ever had one was last year at POFQ. Like someone else stated, I had powdered sugar EVERYWHERE! But it was so worth it. Now I want some. :)

I had them at Cafe du Monde and then at POR and there really is no comparison. At POR they were ok .IMHO

I'm definitely getting them when we go back to WDW. They sound really good. I'm looking forward to getting funnel cake on the boardwalk this summer.
