beignets???

It's a TS place but I imagine you could walk up to the podium and say "we were wondering if we could just order some beignets for take out?" I'm sure the answer would be yes....I don't see why they wouldn't do it.

Thanks for this info!

They have lots of tables, don't worry about that! Plus, you're somewhat protected from the wind while sitting there, and you're less likely to get powdered sugar everywhere. Trust me. Even in New Orleans, sitting at the table is a better idea than trying to take them back to your hotel...much more messy to sneak just one from the bag on your way back rather than to just take the moment to sit at a table to eat that one. :goodvibes

I know that our group got some beignets to go during the ladies only trip, so they do have to-go boxes.

Thank you too! Do you think we'd need a PS for an afternoon snack? I just don't know how to "plan" on needing a snack at a specific time. Do you think we could walk up?

Thanks!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Silly question, I'm sure, but what is a beignet? I am picturing something that is like a croissant. I don't really care for those- unless they have chocolate inside. (This goes back to my motto- if it isn't chocolate it isn't worth calories! ) Do beignets have chocolate? :yay:

No, they're more doughnut-like. They have powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Chocolate would be good with them though.

We might have to try one when we go to Cafe Orleans. But it seemed like it had fruit on it or something. Maybe DH will get one free.

No, there's no fruit, just fried dough (mickey shaped) with powdered sugar. Yes, make sure he has his birthday button on and it's visible (or I'm sure you could point out to the waiter that it's his b-day). I got 3 free beignets on my b-day and they were yummy even w/o chocolate!

Thanks for the link Molly. :) I'm limited on what searches I can do from the office. :)

From the All Ears menu listing:

"Mickey" shaped Beignets - Topped with powdered sugar and served with raspberry coulis and vanilla creme anglaise $6.99

I don't like raspberry on desserts so this bothered me. Yours didn't have it? :confused3

Well, i did get the free version. :rotfl: Actually, I'm thinking maybe the raspberry was a drizzle on the plate? I don't remember any fruit involved but if it was it was very minimal. I'll have to ask DH what he remembers.

The raspberry is served on the side IIRC. The table next to us had them, as an appey tho not as dessert. LOL They also had the Pomme Frites when they saw them delivered to our table. Man I love things! :) It's the same raspberry stuff that comes with the Monte Cristo in the BB.....it's YUMMY!

I have ordered the beignet mix from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans, and made them. And they are delish! And yes, the ones at CO are almost as good.
My Dfi is from New Orleans and he gave mine and the ones at CO a :thumbsup2 .
So there ya go!

If you have a Cost Plus World Market near you (I do) they carry the same brand (Du Monde) as they sell there at RB Creole Cafe at DTD for a whole lot less. ABout $3/box v.s. $9-10 at DTD.

We make them alot and they are easy and delish! :goodvibes

I asked DH if he remembered getting any sauce with it and he didn't remember it either. So I'm thinking it was either drizzled on the plate or they didn't give it with the free beignets.

I just thought as if you all weren't craving biegnets enough...I'd post this. These were from Cafe Orleans just last week.

Oh! Those look fun! Will have to try them! And the sauce is on the side! Thanks for posting it! :yay:

Are those mickey sprinkles new for the celebrate theme? That's really cute! Thanks for posting!

Yep they sure are....they were very cute. They put them on the matterhorn sundae at Carnation Cafe and also on some goodies at Pooh's candy store.

That white one sounds good. I don't believe in mixing berries and dessert. :rotfl: Ok, except for strawberries.

omg those little mickey sprinkles just about killed me !!!!

More Mickey sprinkles...the big one was edible too. This is the matterhorn sundae from Carnation Cafe. Looking back at all the food from our trip...no wonder I can barely button my jeans this week!
