beignets at POFQ

I'm a frequent visitor to New Orleans and always hit Cafe Du Monde for beignets.

Sadly, I was disappointed by the ones at POFQ. Too crusty, not soft enough. But if you didn't know any better, you might enjoy them.

I too was disappointed but only because I was comparing them to Cafe Du Monde's beignets. Like this poster said, if you haven't ever had their beignets, you might really like the ones at POFQ. My daughters loved them.

Add me to another in the disappointed category. I was there last week and tried them. No one in our party cared for them. We got an order of six and took them back to the room to share. we tried them and surprisingly they did not all get eaten. we left them in the container while we went into the park and when we came back my sister was hungry and tried a bite of a cold one. She said they actually tasted much better cold than hot!

These are the beignets we had at Disneyland last year. They came in a bag of powdered sugar. They were so awesome we are planning on stopping by POFQ just to get some this year. I hope they taste the same. The Mickey shape probably helped!

I did not like the beignets, but I love funnel cakes. Not sure why...from what I recall the beignets were just bland, but maybe I had them on a bad day. I think they add other spices (cinnamon, etc) to funnel cake mix.

No matter where I stay, I always get there at least once to have the beignets!!! I'm sooo excited to be able to stay at POFQ where we will be next week and I can also have them for breakfast every day!!!!!!! YUMMY!!!!

We had them for the first time last year. Man oh Man! Those things are scrum-diddly-umptious!!!

Like most of the others have said, 1. make sure you eat them hot, and 2. don't breath in the powdered sugar.

Be prepared to need a "sink bath" (you know...the ones where you just wash off at the sink?) when you're done, though. You will most definitely need to clean your hands and your face. I had to change shirts too. Seriously. I was a mess. Or as my DD would say, a HOT mess.

I'm so glad someone felt the same way I did. And stopping at Cafe Du Monde on the way to Disney didn't help one bit.

I'm from NOLA area and often went to Cafe du Monde and make a yearly trek back down there to see family,etc. I always have to go get my fix at the French Quarter (food and beignets). The ones at POFQ are such a poor excuse for the real things. I was so excited when I found out about them a few years ago, and they were so greasy, nothing like what they should have tasted like. They're supposed to be light and fluffy. Oh,well,

Yeesh - I am certainly not the poster child for loving Disney food, but really? No one asked for a comparison to the Cafe du Monde. It's a bit like the eateries at Epcot; the food is nothing compared the real thing, but try to accept it for what it is, kwim?
