Just wondering if any of you have done this tour and your thoughts on it.?
1 hour behind the scenes tour --cost 14.00.
Love gardening so thought this might be a nice break in the day.
Thanks
Hugs Mel

Hmm I could write a song or poem about that goof up.

naw I'd get thrown off the dis:goodvibes

I did the tour a few years ago with my sister. We both enjoyed it. It's very informative in a non-boring way. I was really interested in the new technologies that they test and the cool way they grow plants. If you like the land ride. You'll love the tour.

I did this tour back in October and there were lots of interesting bits of trivia that you'll like if you enjoy the Living With the Land ride. It was also really cool to see some of the things like the crocodiles and plants like the pineapples up close.

That said… I have to say that I only thought the tour was so-so. I think the overall experience really depends on your tour guide. I asked our guide a question about the nine pound lemons and she didn't really have an answer for me except to say there weren't any at the time - I guess she didn't know because she was an intern and had only been working there for a couple of months. I found she also only focused on one family in our tour. She had three tubes of ladybugs but she gave all three of them to that group - I don't think that I missed out by not releasing the ladybugs but it would have been nice if the others in the group had a chance to participate. She would also answer them first when she asked the group if we had questions.

A couple other things you might want to consider - the tour is listed as being an hour but our's lasted for 1.5 hours. The reason I mention that is because there isn't anywhere to sit down and the greenhouses are humid (might have been because of the time of year). So it's all standing and no air conditioning.

I did the tour in December. There was no release of Lady Bugs but that could be due to the fact my tour was after lunch but did get to have some cucumber that they grew there. It was very good and I finished it after the tour was done.

I enjoyed it but I am not a huge gardening fan. I do agree it all depends on your guide. Ours was just finishing up his time at WDW and college. But he was more than happy to answer any questions. We also had LOTS of time to take photos and got to feed some fish.

There are a few ways to get a discount on the price of the tour so make sure you ask what they are, you never know you could save yourself a couple bucks.

Thank for all the responses ,,I decided to give the tour a try,,booked around 11 am and figured with the DVC discount it would be nice to give it a try.
Thanks and HUGS

Funny thing that this thread comes along, we too are thinking of doing this tour next month. I don't think I will book it ahead of time though, will just try when we are at Epcot, and hope we can get in.
