Behavior Challenge Thread

pudge, for what good it does, when I had my gall bladder taken out (a month ago?) about 4 days afterwards it was time for the weekly WalMart run and I was doing okay but getting tired easily so DH said I could only go if I used a scooter. And I was getting stir crazy in the house so I agreed. And heaven help us all if I ever need to use one of them full-time. :scared1: I almost ran over my own children a couple of times.

Anyway, time for a bragging moment.... ;)
http://www.sedaliademocrat.com/news/school_15896___article.html/month_form.html
Yes, both kids are there somewhere but I can't spot them. (uh, one is in yellow and one is in blue, which doesn't help much)

OMG!!!!! Maybe your DD could get the Teacher's aide job. :goodvibes

I just need a judge's ruling on this, sure the word might have been scrubber, but who puts that on a spelling test? Is that even an actual word that you would normally put in a sentence? It sounds like your dd's teacher is in the same vein as mine :)

Sorry I haven't been on this thread lately, ya'll. I admit, I've been avoiding it a little. Not because of you, because of me. It's been a tough few months (I hate med changes) and I've been going through a depressed phase, I think. I'm working to get out of it now.

I no longer hang here and check in once a day maybe. I was told that I did not belong here and that I know nothing about WDW. The person has made my life a nightmare online and not just here so I gave up. No amount of people telling I am smart and have good info will get me back to my confident days here. I miss everyone but I was not protected from evil and many people do not care.

No word on the scooter and I am in debt so much now because Chase Visa is messed up. I want to go to WDW so bad and would love the week vacation but the cost is impossible, getting a mom sitter is impossible and I would need an ECV. I stopped the meds as I cannot afford them right now and I am borderline so do not need them. Thyroid will be fine and I never seem to have an empty tummy.

Nicole you and Pudge are part of this family and you two make this place special. It is nice to come here and find people like yourself who has faced the same challenges. It is nice to see a pudgy fishie doing cheers and greeting people. It is nice to see that everyone is pitching in to help guests to this family.

WOW and congrats Becky.:surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::thumbsup2

DisDreaminMom you have to check online for pushchairs and special needs strollers. Check to see if they are rated for buses. If so then you can take them on Disney buses and monorails. Welcome aboard and big hugs and chocolates.

Laurie

Ireland Nicole,

We all have the depressed thing and it's OK to hide for a while. The beauty of this place is that no one is hanging social expectations on each of us. I think of it in a "Judge not lest ye be judged" vein. I'm sure there are greater rates of depression in parents of special needs kids. The divorce rate for parents of autistic kids, according to that twit Jenny McCarthy as quoted on TV the other day, is 80%. Where she got that number, I know not. But it makes it sound really crappy to have an ASD kid, huh?

SO welcome back. Glad to have ya!

Pudge the Fish, the mental picture of Mrs. Magoo on a ECV is classic. Mr. Magoo was one of my favorite all time cartoons.

I loved riding the ECV when my leg was broken for so long. But I like tractors, too, so I'm not normal.

I think the scrubber word was important for the very reason the teacher missed it, i.e. to show that the short vowel sound needs two preceding consonants and the long vowel just gets one, or at least in this case. It is English, so I'm sure there are a few exceptions if I sat and thought about it a little, huh?

Busy weekend. It's Easter and I've been guilted into hosting the family meal and DH's coworkers for lunch Sunday, I still haven't done my taxes, and almost 2nd anniversary of my Dad's passing (the 15th), so my Mom is a basket case. Plus I have a 2nd interview for the job I want tomorrow and I work today and tomorrow as well. I very well might be hiding in the bushes by Monday. :scared1:

By the way, Disney Store just got in a line of Hypoallergenic, washable plush (stuffed animals). Too cool. I bet you can get them online. :cool1:

Okay Lady, time for my weekly pep talk. Don't make me come to California...:goodvibes(which would actually be pretty cool, last time I as there I was 10 (that was a looonnggg time ago).

My DP has always told me "fake it 'til you make it". I too suffer from depression and anxiety. I've been able to regulate it pretty well with meds for many years now. So the heck with the "bad" voices. Listen to the good voices, me, Pudge, Koolaidmoms, DDM, Becky etc.

We want to know how you are. I don't know who the heck is terrorizing you but ughh. They are so not worth it. And it's human nature whether we suffer from depression or not to listen to the bad over the good. 10 people can tell you how nice you look but we focus on the 1 that says we don't. Why do we do this to ourselves?

I'm off to pick up dinner. BBQ... yumm

So.... :cheer2::grouphug::banana::hippie:

DisDreamin, around here I'd almost prefer to be the one cooking the dinner. Because I always have to cook up something different for DS anyway, so I end up cooking, and if I'm gonna do that I might as well just do it all. If that makes any sense. Trying to cook him up a meal and transport that, along with my "bring a dish", I'm halfway to cooking the whole dinner. Plus the hassle of going anywhere anyway.

So this is what happens (MIL rant warning!) :headache: The MIL hosts the holiday dinners. Except what she does, has quite the scam going, is she supplies the meat, and everyone else brings everything else. She will tell you she doesn't cook and I won't argue that. For Easter, she will buy a pre-cooked spiral sliced ham, warm it up, and then sit back and wait while everyone else shows up with the rest of the meal. Hmmm. Just not right. And her apartment smells funny.

She still gets confused and slightly annoyed that I bring a whole meal for DS with me, that my kids are "too picky" to eat the same food as everyone else. But this is the same woman who didn't know cornbread had wheat in it. I don't even trust something that looks okay.

So then she calls and announces she's hosting dinner and I ask what time to come over, like noon? Well gosh no. Church gets out at noon and it's Easter so it will probably run over, plus she won't even start to heat up her ham until she gets home. I'm thinking 3:00 at the earliest. Which means I'm going to have to feed everyone lunch anyway, nobody in this house will wait until 3:00 for lunch. Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh.

/rant off/ ;)

On a side note, I think scrubber is a pretty wierd spelling word too. What kind of word is that? Aren't there several hundred more important words to learn how to spell?

edited to add: raising my hand on the anxiety/ depression thing.

I am back for my DIS * fix* :lmao:

long day at DTD and it was HOT- started off this a.m. with cool 60 and it hot 80 FAST-Sunburned nose.
No Dole Whip:( it was a PACKED BUS to the Poly and many in line-we go back to MK on the 25 of April so I can FINALLY have one.

I don't have special needs kids - I deal with minor issues compared to ya'll-
But I feel I "fit" here as we have behavior/medical issues too.
My youngest Dd has a really low immune system that has gotten better after tonsils & etc out. still not great -She has food allergies -give her dairy and she breaks out in horrible bumps- she is REALLY over dramatic, and can have a meltdown if she gets overheated or has low sugar and can turn into a , "Honest- I have NOT beat this child and have NO idea why she is throwing a tantrum-" -Child in 30 seconds or less
Doctor says it all hormonal and sugar issues. We go in next week for more testing. I kinda figured she was spoiled :goodvibes :confused3 but doc says nope tests shows she has some hormonal issues

Laurie- you are the one who talked me into coming back after I got nastygrams saying I was a know it all-and bragged about WDW- you have SOOOOO Much information about ALL kinds of stuff. The info about the low vision web site was soo wonderful- helped me out a lot! Ignore the meanies!
we love you!!!!!!:cloud9:

Everyone else is :lovestruc nice and helpful- being on a wheat free- sorta dairy free is hard and ya'll have lots of ideas.

I have been told our reality for anxiety is ours and that no one else really understands it. What may cause us problems may not cause anyone else issues. It is logical to us and not anyone else.
most don't understand the not being able to breathe when surrounded by 100 people in a small room- but it happens to me.

I am all about enjoying WDW with a disABILITY- and anyone who can help us enjoy our lives at home or at WDW is helpful.

:grouphug: to everyone-

p.s. Just found out we are having 5 extra over for Easter-ARRGH:scared1: and don't even get me started on my MIL/FIL vents:)

Just a quick:grouphug: for all my Peeps out there. Who the heck sends out nastygrams to anybody? How bizarre is that? I mean, if you don't like what someone says, then stop reading or block them in your User CP. Not difficult. Peace out, tomorrow is a long day...:flower3:

I am not up to wrting much but Pudge get you a dole whip.

I was going to bring Beef Brisket with Cherry Bomb Sauce but I can do Cheddar Burgers. Do you think they'd be okay in the car for the journey from here to CA:rotfl:Ooh or I could bring you hot dogs packed in ice. No seriously, we have some of the best dogs here.

Not much to report here, the family is sleeping as the kids have off school today. I am off to work.

I got a nasty-gram from somebody here once. Not in DisAbilities, somewhere else, probably the Budget Board. They didn't even refer to the thread so it took me several minutes to figure out what they were even talking about. I didn't reply.

C&G's, I want the bagels. Manhattan street vendor bagels with cream cheese. Just a short road trip for you to pick up, then you can drive them down to me immediately, as they won't be as good next-day. ;)

Laurie: honey, ignore the haters- literally; put them on ignore and ya don't have to deal w/ em. Remember that hatred and ignorance are the worst disabilities someone can have to my way of thinking. Don't let anyone get you down. Heck, I love your insight and perspective. Sometimes it helps me understand my kids better b/c they can't explain how something seems/feels to them, but you can. So instead of listening to them, spend time with us! I don't have chedderburgers, but I got some mean Texas BBQ; and trust me, Texas gets it sooooo right when it comes to Que.

C&G; what's different about a grey's papaya dog? They seem pretty famous, is there something particularly interesting about them?

Mechurchlady, how did you get a picture of my pug? He's such a pig!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

DS had a bad week at school. He spit on kids in the after school program 2 days in a row. WTH??He didn't even do that when he was a little bugger. Why now at 6 1/2? I couldn't even make him do his homework last night. He was just in a snit and was becoming unglued about any and every thing. Teacher reports lots of touching and blowing at school, too. The afterschool coordinator told me the other kids were being really loud and DS stands up and yells "If you don't shut up I'm going to beat you all!!!".:rolleyes1

They punished him, but the other teacher was laughing behind his hand when they were telling me about it. :rolleyes1

I was forcing myself to eat veggies and found some yummy veggies in orange sauce from Whole Foods but I forgot how long it had been there and swallowed some. I have gotten sick and am worn out. Mom is demanding that I do everything but I said I am sick and no, not happy.

They turned me down for a scooter so it will be another referral by doctor wong and if not that then a month more of waiting. I cannot afford one though if I could do payments up to 50 a month maybe.

BAD NEWS. My SSI just went down $37 a month. The state now has cut back $37 what they can pay.

Thanks Nicole and the other people do not like when I talk about SID and stuff. I am too blunt about thinks like picking and BOK CHOY. I end people here because of the kindness of strangers who end up being friends.

I am so behind in chores it is not a joke. I need a maid, can I get someone to come to my rescue and thus take a vacation from their family. So how is everyone and I hope everything is going well. This lates bout is from bad fod thankfully. I just love cheddarburgers and would be in DLR if I could afford to go. I think I need to write the president and complain as the promises are not rolling in for me.

:surfweb::surfweb::surfweb::hug::hug::hug:
big hgus and thanks
Laurie

I knwo someone around here loves pugs. Kind of like the ones we love in that they are one thing on the outside but you know on the inside is something better waiting to break free.

Okay, I'll leave at midnight tonight to be in Manhattan by 6am (I would think they would be freshest then). I will then head back west to Missouri is it? I don't do coffee but an ice cold Diet Pepsi would be nice. From there I'll drive to California with the hot dogs (they'll be fine 'cause they're on ice in the cooler)

DDM -

Hey, stop by KY and bring me some of what everybody is having! I'm scared to ever go to Manhattan. Big cities make me:eek:

DS would give his eye teeth to live in a city. Just enough action that he calms down, I suppose. Makes me want to stop the train and get off, IYKWIM.

Anyone heard from Saveaquarter? How's the hubby doing? If you're out there, update us. Oh, and the lady with the teenager who gets mad at crying babies. Report...

Mechurchlady, last Fall I bought some country ham (salt cured, not sugar cured) and cooked it. It smelled kind of funny, but it was a kind I had never bought before and it was pretty expensive. So I taste a bite and as it's going in my mouth, I realize that it is actually rancid. You know what I did? I ran to the liquor cabinet and grabbed the very seldom used bottle of vodka that we keep around, and made myself a giant, very potent fruity drink. Then made another one. I never did get sick and the alcohol made me relax a little about the whole nastiness of the experience. Normally, I would be able to taste the memory years later, like if you've ever sipped spoiled milk from the carton unknowingly.:headache: So here's my sympathy for the sickness.

I know we are not supposed to talk politics, but I feel bad when I hear benefits are cut, when truly people believed that things would be better for them and that clearly isn't the case. $37 may not be a lot to some suit in Washington, but it's really useful and missed by you. That's a lot of sushi and cheddarburgers.

My female pug, Suzie, is the toughest dog in the world and the most loving dog ever. She is brilliant. If I could teach her sign language, she would talk. She is the most maternal dog I've ever seen. Her brother Frank is actually the size of a large Great Dane and he has a Police badge with high security clearance. Shhhh, don't tell anybody. We try to keep from bragging. :cool2:

Hey Becky, are you still doing the reward system you came up with? Discuss when you're done with the Easter mania. I'm all for returning the Sabbath to a day of rest. Next year, that going to be my excuse. I have to clean the house tomorrow. :headache:NOT IN THE MOOD!!!!!

Present! J is alright, he's currently in mourning over ER. The show ended last week, and he watched every single episode from the start. That's 15 years of Thursday nights in County Gen. We had it marked on our calendar and were anticipating it like the nuclear holocaust. He feels like he's lost an entire set of friends. Which, honestly, considering how consistent the show is with characters and growth and followup, is completely understandable.

To soften the blow, though, we are now starting the entire series over from episode one, every Thursday night. Although, that new show, Southland, that's moving into ER's old timeslot is good enough for us to bump ER back to 11 instead of 10.

He's also incredibly stressed ot over our reluctant twins. They are healthy, they are kicking around, they are riding VERY low in my hips, but they just don't want to come out!

Also, churchlady, I can't believe your SSI has been cut back. My foodstamps just jumped up by about $40 a month because of the new stimulus bill! It'll be nice to not have to scrape by on ramen and canned goods at the end of the month.

Mom was screaming fits over not having diapers aka Depends. I AM SICK. I was so tempted to haul her rump into the bathroom and give her a whiff.

I hit the first CVS and rolled along my wheelchair with a basket in it. I could sit down if need be but most important is that it takes the weight off the top half and rolls smoothly and steady like.

$70 for 4 packs of diapers, rolaids, 3 cases of diet coke, coffee nips, and centrum. I got for 90% of some other items like baskets and a plate. Diapers were on sale $10..99 for a savings of $18 plus 9.xx tax eek.

I go to second CVS and get 4 of the sale diapers and one of the new manure that is not as good. I saved $13.50 on 5 packs of diapers, $2 cash type coupon, $3 of the new crappy diapers, $3 off cash type coupon, $10 off of $50 purchase. I saved $34.41 from the second shop. That is like half off of the diapers, wow.

Mom NEEDS DIAPERS NOW. By waiting I saved $49.15 off of 8 packages of diapers. That is the problem with NV kids as you can see and my mom is old but never grew up. If I take the $49 I saved and bought 5 more packs then I could use coupons to get the 5 for $43 or about half price.

I love her despite her NV hypersensitivity and to night gave her chocolate ice cream.

churchlady, you sound like the ladies at the coupon board I just started hanging out at. Which, trust me, is a complement, those ladies are hard-core.

We dyed eggs yesterday, or rather I dyed them while the DS's told me what to do. We now have 3 dozen boiled eggs in our fridge, which is like a cholesterol nightmare right there. I'll use up a dozen and make devilled eggs for the MIL's dinner. That leaves DH and I with a dozen apiece, as youngest DS is allergic to eggs and oldest DS won't eat them boiled. Would anybody like some boiled eggs, to go with their hot dogs, bbq, cheddar burgers, etc? They're real purty, and I can just stick the eggs in C&G's car when she does her cross-country trip.

DisDreamin, yeah, uh, we're not doing so well on that. I can give you a long list of what doesn't work, but not anything that's working well. However, I can tell you, DH has been home more than usual the past month (first with my surgery and then his work schedule has just been different) and it's not as bad when he's here. Hmmmm.

well you could send some eggs my way as I refused to dye eggs this year- they are soo expensive 1.89 -2.00 a dozen and then I make deviled eggs - then the rest get tossed cause no one wants them.

we made candy eggs from a wiltons molded kit this year and it worked.

I am at the point where I buy the eggs all ready pre -boiled and shelled as I can't stand the smell of boiling eggs.

wow Laurie- awesome on coupons! like on the budget board on the Dis- although that board scares me:scared1:
they are tough :goodvibes

I am sad over the ER ending too:(

I have to clean today too- again NOT in the mood:headache:
:hug:to all today!
