Beginners quilting book???

I am making my first quilt. Does anyone know of a good book that I could purchase that will give me, the beginner, alot of info and advise??? Thanks.

Hi! I just found this board and noticed your question. I'm an "advanced" beginner at quilting, I guess. I'm working on my third and fourth quilts. Luckily my mom is a great quilter, so I've been learning a lot from her, but she lent me a couple of books that are really helpful: The Joy of Quilting by Joan Hanson & Mary Hickey, and Rotary Roundup by Judy Hopkins & Nancy Martin. Both go step by step through most of the techniques.

A few other tips from my experience: Start with a quilt that has only square or rectangle pieces. I didn't work with triangles on my first quilt, and I'm glad - it was much less frustrating! Also, don't be afraid to rip out your seams and re-do them if your seams or corners don't match up when you are piecing. (Then again don't drive yourself nuts trying to make it absolutely perfect, you will never notice the little things once you have the whole thing finished!)

Hope this helps! I really have fun quilting. It can be time consuming, but it's nice to end up with something so useful!

Thank you sooooo much for replying to my post. My husband and I are avid hunters, so I am making a quilt to reflect this. I have printed some of our hunting pics on material and will incorporate them into the quilt that I am making. I found some wonderful fabric and can't wait to start on my quilt. I did order 2 books off of Amazon.com but have not received them yet. I will have to look for the books that you have mentioned. You can never have too many books!!!! I don't mind time-consuming projects. I guess that is good if you want to make a quilt! Thanks again for responding!
