Before you rent from Gold Mobility

I have had good experiences with Gold in the past, but based on this won't be renting from them again.

Lately I have had good luck with Scootaround. I have used theme for a couple of cruise in the last year and have had great experiences. We arrive tomorrow for a spilt stay trip between Disney and Universal. I booked with Scooterbug for the Disney portion for the connivence of drop at bell services. We have 3 days at Disney, and I figured I would try them on a shorter stay. I booked Scootaround for Universal.

I had the same experience as others here when booking with Walker. We got equipment in bad shape that didn't stay charged.

For those who have had issues, please go and post reviews, especially on Google. They aren't going to like it, but people need to know how things are currently going.

Apple was my go to before Gold. It’s been a number of years and I can’t recollect exactly why I switched… probably equipment or service but could have been price. Thinking of checking them out again though.

OK, now I'm really confused about who to go with. I was all set to reserve with Walker-now, after reading this, I'm not so sure. I checked Apple, and they have 20 minute drop-off slots. That's not bad at all! Walker gives one hour slots (like "drop off between 4:00 and 5:00", which means waiting, potentially close to an hour) I'm not so much concerned about price as I am about quality of scooter and customer service. So keep those recommendations coming!

I’ve mentioned before in other threads that I had a great rental experience in October with Gigi’s Strollers for an ECV. They have less choices for which ECV but they are the nicest group I have ever rented from. Plus, their prices are very reasonable and they drop off and pickup during a wide range of times. Their web link is listed below.

Unfortunately unless I missed it, they only have 4 wheel scooters that disassemble. If that’s meets your need it would be something to consider.

I might send them an email and suggest this is their moment to invest in some 3-wheel options while Gold Mobility is sinking. Great idea.

I only travel with 1 roller bag and my tote bag. I put the tote under my feet on my ECV or in the basket and I can roll my roller bag with 1 hand going slowly until I get to the check in area at the airline. Once I’ve checked my bag, it’s easy to finish going thru security.
Once I arrive at WDW, I either roll the bag myself or pay for a bellman to bring it to my villa.
I’m in my 70s, as well, and needed the ECV to navigate the airport in addition to WDW.
My ECV is smaller than what you were renting though. I have a Go-Go Sport 3-wheel which I absolutely love.
Wow. I'm
I wouldn’t trust the owner as far as I could throw him. If they do a swap they give the scooter to HIS mechanic. If he says it’s fine they charge me $35. We already know he is a liar, I’m not going to give them any more of my money… why would I trust his mechanic. I will deal with the one I have. And tell him good riddance when I turn it in. I’m sure they won’t test the battery… they’ll just dump it on another customer.
I'm sorry. I i haven't rented in many years, but one of the times I had issues with a battery from Apple Scooters, they actually came into Epcot, meet me at the restaurant we were eating at and exchanged scooters. A few hours is ridiculous.

When I talked to Gigi’s strollers, they said they had also heard of people having issues with Gold Mobility. I suggested they consider adding Go-Go Sport 3-wheel to their rental ECV lineup and they said it is definitely on their radar as they evaluate equipment and the needs of customers for safety and portability.

Since they already have some Golden Technologies models, they should actually consider some of the three wheels from them, they are easier to take apart. The method is the same, just their mechanism is easier to operate with less force than Pride, at least that is what DH has found. They are also slightly lighter and some models even gave really good suspension on them. They actually have a 3 wheel with around a 400 lb capacity that has a similar weight as the GoGo sport and is only slightly larger by like an inch in each direction.
