I have a reservation I want to see about getting transferred to another Dis'er, but the original reservation is for four, and it would be going to a party of 2.. is that possible or will Disney reject that idea?

Could I try to change it to a res for 2 in my name then transfer in a week or so? It is Le Cellier, so chances of cancelling and rebooking would be slim (september ADR).

Thanks for any advice!

When I tried to downgrade the number of people on an ADR, I was told that they cancel the reservation and then rebook it for the new number (if there are any openings).

I have heard where people just show up and have less numbers in the party, but not sure how Disney feels about that.

I'm still trying to take a CRT ADR from 6 to 5, and everytime I try, they say there are no tables of 5 and they simply will not reduce my party size yet.

I managed to do a similar thing for coral reef, I changed the party size from 6 to 4 and then about a week later I changed the name.
Although reading the posts here I may have got an overachieving cm who was able to do this for me.

That is correct. Restaurant tables over 99% of the time are designed for an even number of people, so there is no difference between a table for 5 or a table for 6. So don't worry about it.

There are different number of tables for 2 then tables for 4. Basically you're utilizing a reservation that a true table of 4 can use. This is a case where a CM who is following the book, should make for a rebook.

Have you already paid for the sixth person? I know at CRT you most often have to pay in advance. If you haven't paid yet, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think they would charge your DDp for another person if they didn't show up. If you've already paid for the 6, I'd keep trying.

IMO, Just change the name of the reservation for the other dis'er. Yes, it will still say 4 people but they will still be seated if they arrive with only 2 people.

Then that credit card would be charged for one person that no showed.

True! When was ADRs for my solo trip May 3rd-10th, I asked the CM for an ADR for one at a particular restaurant. He came back with, "The three of you can be seated at 7:20pm". I went "Huh, I said table for one". He immediately came back with, "Yes, as I said, I can make a reservation for the 'three' of you for 7:20pm", emphasizing the word three. It took me a minute, then I laughed and said 'I guess the other two members of my party will be sick that day'. He laughed and said, 'either that, or you can pick up somebody in the park that day. That is a very good restaurant, after all". When I got to the restaurant a couple of weeks ago and told them party of one, they never blinked an eye and seated me at a table for two. The restaurant was Le Cellier, by the way.

I just got off the phone with a wonderful CM that was able to reduce my number of people no problem.:cool1:

Nope we are on the DP so they did not charge for the other person yet. But we will be paying out of pocket for this at the time. The CM said to just let the server know when we arrive that we want to pay for it OP.

Even if youre on the DDP you still have to give a CC number at CRT to guarantee the reservation. If someone doesnt show up in the party the credit card will be charged the amount that one person would have payed. You still need to take that person off the reservation.
