We are going to WDW in Sept. and have been hearing about a lot of changes/absences of some of our favorite beers. We don't officially "Drink Around the (whole)World" but we have several countries where we like to stop for a drink.

Can anyone who has been there recently confirm any of this (disturbing) info? And if they are serving something new, do you know what it is? The countries we are curious about:

Norway-- Ringnes
Germany-- Becks
Morocco-- Casablanca
U.K.-- Tennents

We are hoping that they aren't going more mainstream (domestic beer) or getting rid of it altogether! :earseek: Seriously though, the beers specific to each country help to make the experience more authentic and we would truly miss them.

THANKS FOR ANY ANSWERS!! :wave2:

Can't say for the others but Becks was still in Germany in late July 04.

Ringnes is gone  It was replaced by the new owner with Carlsberg?? which is not even Norwegian.

I've heard that Tennents is gone and Ringnes is definitely gone. Rumor has it that Norway will eventually add a Norwegian beer instead of the current Danish beer.

Did you get Beck's inside the restaurant? We went to two outdoor vendors around July 20, 21st and they didn't have it, they were selling Heineken (sp.?). I'm not doubting you got it there I'm just curious because we specifically wanted a Beck's because a Beck's and a pretzel is an Epcot tradition for us. No more Molsen's at the cart in Canada either. I can't remember the names of what they serve now.

Beck's is gone from the Biergarten Germany. I ate there in early July and again in late July and it has been replaced with 3 other choices. One I believe was Lowenbrau Can't remember the 2nd. The 3rd was a wonderful Franziskaner Weissbier.

Well..moosehead better be at the cart in Canada when we go back this Sept. (the entire cart..had disapeared...for refurb) or I am going to be really upset..they have taken away everything else...I sure hope they are bringing in some good things to replace all they have taken away.

Thanks for the info, everyone.

Does anyone know what is behind all of these changes happening at once??

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Distributrion contracts were probably done at similar times.

What about Stella in the UK? If they've done away with it, I better break it to my hubby now as he is anticipating a yard upon arrival on October 22!

Why would Stella Artois be in the UK? It's a French beer!

Becks and a pretzel is a tradition here too. I did notice last year that you couldnt get a large Becks outside anymore....now thay dont offer Becks at all? Bummer! Looks like I'll be getting a Black n Tan in the UK!

:drinking1 :drinking:

Uh, can't tell you why Stella is sold in UK at Epcot...but it is (was). I'm not a beer history buff, but I understand that Stella is belgian...not french.

Stella is a Belgium beer that's similar to Rolling Rock in taste. The Rose and Crown probably serves it because it's become extremely popular in the United Kingdom. Served ice cold, it's pretty good on a hot day.

Does anyone know if Spaten Oktoberfest is served in Germany? When we were there in March, I believe Becks was the only choice offered. Apparently, things are changing....

Oops!

I had a bottle infront of me at the time too, really no excuse for that

The most disturbing for me are Germany and Morocco. I always wished they would get away from a mass produced beer like Becks but replacing it with Lowenbrau is not what I had in mind. Franziskaner was a good choice but I'm not a fan of wheat beer so I'm not too excited about that either. Does anyone know what the third option is?

I hope Casablanca isn't gone for good. If it is gone does anyone know what it was replaced with?

I never was a big fan of Ringnes but at least it was Norwegian. Using Carlsberg as a replacement is odd.

Strange having so many changes in such a short time.
