Beer and the International Gateway

One of the pleasures of World Showcase is being able to enjoy a cooling beverage from the various country pavilions. My beverage of choice is usually a beer of some sort. Sometimes, as I am returning to my resort (usually YC) via the International Gateway, I will realize I have not completely finished my libation. Rather than chug my beer to finish, I have been known to slip the cup into the storage area at the bottom of my daughter's stroller and, thereby, to "sneak" the beer out of Epcot.

Does this make me a bad person? Has anyone else done this?

One time, in fact, I took the beer out and then we decided to go right back into Epcot. Security noticed the beer I had just snuck out on the trip back in and made me finish it before I could reenter the park. Very amusing.

I think this makes you an amusing and incredibly ingenious person. Now, all I need is a daughter and a stroller, and I'll be all set. on second though, maybe just one of those resort mugs might be a cheaper option...

In my hometown, this is known as a "go cup"!!

One time, I was at a seminar at WDW and a bunch of us had had a few beers at the ESPN Club before heading into Epcot for Illuminations. I had my last beer in a plastic cup and took it with me when we left. I was the last from the group through the security checkpoint at the International Gateway and when I put the cup down to let the guy go through my bag he asked what was in the cup. Realizing I had unintentionally committed a faux pas, but not wanting to throw out the rest of the beer, I responded (without missing a beat) "It's ginger ale." He said "It's. . .". I said ". . .ginger ale". I'm sure he didn't believe me, but he let me through anyway.

:)

I once stayed until closing at espn club and walked back to the bc. I was about to chug my last drink and the bartender told me to put it in a plastic glass and I was good to go! I questioned him on this. He said that WDW is private property and can drink away outside.

I believe in Florida you can walk down the street with a beer....I may be mistaken but I dont think the open container law applies until you step into a vehicle....I know when I was in FT. Lauderdale at Fat Tuesdays we walked the streets with drinks in hand....I think Disney is just trying to keep it as family oriented as possible...

We are just back and twice my FI was not done with his beer as we were leaving. One CM asked him to finish it, the other didn't say anything at all. I guess they don't want to be responsible in case you drink and drive? It's like you can drink before and after, but not through the turnstiles.

It's actually due to the way the liquor license laws work in the state of FL. You're not allowed to take alcoholic beverages into or out of an establishment that serves liquor. The way the licensing works, each vendor must have a license, there is no "blanket license" for "Walt Disney World", hence, you have to finish your drinks before you leave.

I think you guys could appreciate a thread on the Resort Board entitled "Monorail Drink-a thon". Some of you sound like good candidates for the Lushes Around the World Club LOL :p
