Been to DW in February? Please tell me about it.

We have been trying to plan a trip for next year (we didn't go this year). I was leaning towards going in Feb. like either 2/9/14-2/14/14 or 2/23/14-2/28/14. Anyone do February? How were the lines? How was the weather?

We went the weekend of the Princess Half Marathon this year and that weekend was busy, but not too bad. Once everyone went back home, the parks were emptier and lines were shorter. Busier than September, but still slow. Highs were in the 70's and we wore shorts and t-shirts every day. Definitely a nice time of year to visit.

You may already know this but the week between the 2 you mentioned is Mid Winter Break for most of NY so skip that week definitely (like it looks like you already are). If you're flying, you may want to price out different scenarios because weekends on either end of that middle week are $$$$!!!

That said, February is my favorite time to go. The weather can be hit or miss (in the years before it was easy to check weather forecasts online, one year we took all shorts and tee shirts and had to buy pants and sweatshirts there. The next year was the opposite). Generally, unless there's a school break somewhere, or a special event the crowds are fairly light.

I think it's considered an "off-peak" time so they do some ride closures around that time. So if there's a must do, take that into consideration.

my favorite time. decent weather (cold at night), decent crowds, and it's just nice to see palm trees mid winter! :thumbsup2

Being a farming family from the NW, we've only ever gone in Jan/Feb (that's about 8 times now). We find it to be very pleasant. There are crowds at times, but I can imagine they're NOTHING in comparison to those during peak times!! Lines are generally very tolerable, and on days where the weather is rainy, overcast or chilly ("chilly" to FL people, anyway! LOL), sometimes they are almost non-existent! Restaurants are easy to get...we only just began making ADR's last time but really feel like we don't even need them. (even when our vacations overlapped free dining times) The only drawback is that sometimes you don't get a warm enough day for much, if any, swimming/water parks. There was one year we went where the temps in FL in early February were colder than our temps back in Idaho, which felt like a ripoff! LOL

We went this past 2/16-2/21. The first two days fell over President's Day weekend and it was SO crowded and cold. Highs around 60 and lows at night were around 40 degrees IIRC. After the holiday crowd cleared out and it warmed up (ended up in the 70s and 80s) it was much better.

For comparison's sake, we usually travel over Memorial Day weekend and found the Feb crowds to be much worse, not to mention the cold weather. I would just recommend avoiding any holidays, school breaks, or races.

We always go in February , our favorite time to go. We usually avoid that third week due to school vacation( even though it is ours here in maine) . We save a lot by going then and the lines aren't bad at all. Weather is usually nice, but coming from Maine anything over 40 seems nice! Lol! But 70's even 80's are common . Some rain but very little, weather service said it is on of the driest months for Florida. Prices are good too.

I THINK any week in February is good except Presidents week. Last year we did half that week and half into the following week and it was crazy but got better into the following week. Good luck!

We're planning to go Feb 19-March 3, 2014. Our kids are on vacation the last week of February so we had to work around that. We were hoping to go a couple of days later and stay later in March because I think the crowds will be lower the first week in March. But, the flights jumped significantly in price closer to the weekend. So, I think we'll just make the best of it. I think we'll spend the first 2 days at Universal (staying at one of their hotels and using the express pass) and hope the crowds at Disney are a little better after that.

Thanks everyone. Sounds like we should go that last week to be safe. I really appreciate all the responses. Hoping we can make that time frame work.

we went over Valentines Day in 2010. I am from the Midwest and it was like fall here down there then. We had hoodies and jeans, somedays we needed gloves to keep our fingers warm in the mornings and evenings. It was a good time! Lines were not longer than 15 min and I would say I prefer it more than during the summer!

Disney in Feb....Practically Perfect in Every Way!!! The weather is amazing and the lines are short. Just don't go around any holidays. Early Feb is our favorite time of the year to go. Oh and the prices are low!:cool1:

We went in February 2010 and it was chilly! Long pants and sweaters weren't enough after the sun went down. We needed heavier jackets. Otherwise, fun trip.

Was there anything special going on because of Valentine's Day?
We will be ending our trip in MK on Valetine's Day this year.

We love February! Weather is mild, crowds aren't too bad. Unfortunately President's Day falls right at the end so it might be a bit more crowded. Never mind.

Most important tip is to layer up with clothing.

So basically we will need to pack more layers than we would in September. I am guessing swimming is out of the question????

We are planning our trip for 2/23-2/28/2014

Don't count swimming out, especially in late Feb! Like I mentioned, we always go in Jan/Feb, but the later we've gone, we've always been able to swim. We always pack for swimming but sometimes it just doesn't work out temp wise, though if you're not picky and are willing to go to a water park on a cooler, overcast day, they can be pretty much empty and it feels like you've got it to yourself. ;)

The 3rd and 4th weeks of February are school vacation weeks here in the Northeast and WDW is a popular destination and we're all sick of the cold and snow by February.

If you go sometime during the first two weeks crowds won't be as bad as during the last two weeks. Like a PP I've found the last week of February to be more crowded than May (also over Memorial Day weekend).

Weather can be iffy. Sometimes we've been in shorts and t-shirts and other times its been jeans, sneakers, long sleeve shirts and fleece jackets (still better than winter boots and snow). I plan for layers when traveling in February just to be on the safe side. I learned that after the year I packed all shorts and t-shirts and ended up having to buy clothes in Florida for cooler weather.
