Nearly every time I get off of I-4 onto World Drive, there are cops (yes, plural) not far off the ramp, and they either have pulled someone over already, or are waiting to. I figure people are really excited being so close to Disney, and tend to speed along. Especially since there is an initial stretch off the ramp where the speed limit is rather slow. We are AP holders and go often, so I'm well aware to pay extra attention to my speed here, but I always wonder how often people get pulled over that are not from the area. I guess I am curious if people have noticed this too. Plus, I'm giving a little bit of a heads up. It seems like a terrible way to start a Disney vacation by getting a speeding ticket!

Yes it's a bad way to start a vacation but a lot of those are also CMs speeding to work. That has always been a problem.

Ohhh yes, I hadn't thought about that.

For a lot of first-timers, the issue is that they don't realize that they are ON World Drive when they get on it; they think that they are on a highway spur that is leading to it. It is a large enough road structure that it fools a lot of people into thinking that they are still on part of the Interstate, with the speed limit that goes along with that. They don't realize that there is a significant reduction of the speed limit on World Drive, and it can be easy to miss the signs if you happen to be riding along next to a bus when you pass them.

I have heard they target locals who speed through WDW property as a cut through or CMs driving crazy. I have been passed by locals on Buena Vista drive who were driving like crazy. The OCSO likely wouldn't cite a tourist for a minor speeding violation. I am not sure about the FHP though.
