Haven't rented since 9/11 trip.

Renting 12/13 4pm to 12/17 11:30am (4 days)
Will have 4 adults.
Trying to limit us to 3 suitcases & 3 carry-ons. (geesh - even that sounds like alot for such a short trip) Maybe a backpack & camera bag that we can put between our legs. No other bags.

Always used Emerald Aisle pre-9/11 for just 2 adults. Never had a problem with car size. (Mitsubishi Esclipse convertible & Pont Grand Am I think on last trips)

Here's my questions:

1. Do you think we are taking a chance on car size availability by going Emerald Aisle vs Emerald Reserve?

2. Using Emerald Club code only (no other coupons due to length & dates) - I got rate of 159.96 LESS $17.60 discount PLUS tax & charges for TOTAL $177.29

All other codes I tried gave me just higher. I reserved it & will keep trying. But wonder others thoughts on my odds of getting large enough car for the # of bags & people.

Thanks.

I cannot answer your 1st question however here is some prices to compare.

We are going 12/12 – 12/19 and got our best rate from National for a full size car. Our base rate is 120.89 plus taxes, minus Entertainment book coupon it comes up to $146.16.

SplshMtn99,

If you go to mousesavers.com and go to her section for rental cars, scroll down to National section and there is a link for Vacation Outlet.

You can print out a coupon for a free weekend day (has a max of 4 day rental) that is good for your time frame.

Just go to the National site and add the coupon into your current ressie. I believe you can just go into change section. Remember that if for some strange reason the site doesn't make the change the correct way you do not have to accept the change to your original ressie.

If your more comfortable then just try to make a new ressie with the coupon code and dc discount. I currently have a high rate with National for a five day full size rental for $217 with taxes/fees and the DC discount and $15 off rental from Vacation Outlet.

Good luck!

Thanks. I saw those yesterday too. But unfortunately, I don't qualify to use them.

The free day off a weekend rental requires a Fri & Sat pm rental. My trip is Sat - Wed.

The other coupon is off a 5 day rental, and our trip is only 4 days.

:(

Did you try the Carlson Travel code from mousesavers? I used it Oct 1 to 6 and paid $120 incl tax with a $15 Entertainment coupon. That was Emerald Aisle. I got a Monte Carlo with 8 miles on it.
