We came upon quite a few of these on our recent trip(seemed most people we encountered were newbies!). Sat behind a family on IASW who was seeing it for the first time. The shreks of joy and pointing by the kids was fun to see. We stood behind a family in line at HM who cracked us up. This was the only rain we encountered and they decided they better put their ponchos back on as we rounded our way to the door as they did not want to get wet when they had to go to "that front door"(they pointed to the fake front door :p !). Was priceless to see their reaction when they realized their error:teeth:.
Got any newbie stories to share? I am sure I have more from past trips.

Not specifically, but I love it when I'm sitting next to a first-timer at HISTA or ITTBAB. . . . . nearly as much fun as the show!! :teeth:

I had a lady ask if she could go on the ToT with me. She was sooo scared. I talked her though most of the ride and told her when to expect the first drop. It was really fun watching her expressions.

I love seeing newbies enjoying rides or events for the first time.
One time on TOT there was a little girl (6 or 7) who was going on the ride with her dad. She was holding tightly to his hand and talking to him the whole time through the que area. Asking him various questions about the ride. After the preshow and entering the boiler room area, she looks up at her daddy and says "are we going to die daddy?". What really touched me was that she was willling to go with her daddy regardless of what the outcome was. She was gazing at him with the total trust that young children have of their parents and it was beautiful to observe. Needless to say she ended up enjoying the ride and so of course realized her trust in her daddy was something she could depend on.

We sat in front of 2 couples who were around 60 ish at ITTBAB and I quit watching the show just to listen to them. Their laughter and amazment at how all the special effects were done brought a smile to my face that never left all day. One man just kept screaming out "this is great, isn't this show just great"

We also took my DD's friend for the first time this year and the look on her face after every ride was well worth the cost to take her.

The only one I can think of was Summit Plummet. There was a young girl behind me in line who had never done it and was quite nervous. I wasn't all that surprised by it, I was a newbie too.;)

We both agreed at the bottom of the slide that it was awesome.:D

hi roberta:wave:
absolutly loved your photos:D by the time i finished looking at pictures i've forgotten what the thread is about:D don't they make you wish you was right back there again:D :D :D

I remember sititng next to a woman on TOT who hadn't been on it before and talking her through everything that would happen and when the first drop would be.

I remember the first time I went on TOT I got talking with the family behind me in the line. I was thinking of chickening out and they convinced me to go ahead and try it. :D

Hey, Roberta!!!
I know you from www.mycoupons.com :)
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE your albino peacock--he's simply stunning!!!!

We're FINALLY going for our first trip to WDW in October and I can't wait--really hope to see that lovely bird of yours at Fort Wilderness--we're staying in a cabin.

Those pictures are quite wonderful--enjoyed the one of Skippy as well with the Cigar Indian.

Forgot to mention this is a great thread, BibbidiBobbidiBoo -- even a newbie like myself can appreciate it.

I remember the last time at MK, there was a "newbie" family with a little girl behind me at POTC. Most of the family was OK, but the poor little girl was very unsure about how scary this might be. And she didn't really trust Mom and Dad when they told her it would be OK, since they'd never gone on the ride that she knew of. So I turned around and told her about the ride and the one drop at the beginning ("not too long, and it's the only drop in the ride"). And I told her about the fake shooting scene between the boats. Poor thing had been so scared, but now she was much better, enjoyed the ride, and Mom was very grateful to have a "veteran" explain the ride to the little girl. I love doing that to help "newbies".

one story: I was behind a band of newbies on Test Track last trip, the screams during the speed part of the ride were the best part

We helped newbie's on TT this time. A mother and daughter in the single's line joined our family. I told them when to brace as we took off to the outside track! They seemed relieved when we could answer their questions!
There was a family at CR who were mystified by the monorail. A CM was trying to tell them how quickly they could walk from NGW to MK. They could not understand the 2 monorails and the stops. Things we take for granted are overwhelming to some ;) !
