Been Back for a week. Here are some notes, hints, and tips that we discovered.

We will be in the Blue Bayou reserved area. From the viewing area maps I've seen, I'm guessing we will be buried and have a lot of people getting out before us.

We had the Blue Bayou Fantasmic package. You are in one of 3 prime viewing spots for the fireworks. They will be showing videos on the water screen with fireworks going off above it. Sit right where you are after Fantasmic and enjoy the show.

What did you have to eat? We are eating there at the end of Aug. Can you request a certain table? If so which one? It will be just my dh and I.

When you arrive for your reservation, you can request a table by the water...they may refuse if super busy, but usually it just means a longer wait. Typically, an extra 10-30 minutes (on top of the normal wait to be seated), but you could get one right away or wait an extra hour depending on crowds and luck of the draw.

I always tells folks that since MK is physically larger with larger walk ways and a larger hub area, it feels less crowded. However, the wait times for rides tend to be significantly longer at MK than at DL. One big contributor to that is that MK has less rides than DL so the rides that are there have more people waiting for them. So it is fair to say that MK is more crowded when it comes to rides. This is basically true across all the WDW parks. Feels less crowded but longer waits for rides.

Maybe MK's walkways seem less crowded because there are more people in lines. :)

Thanks, OP, for a coherent and informative recap.

Maybe. But I am not sure why there would be more people in lines at MK than DL.

The queue areas at MK generally seem to hold a lot more people than their DL counterparts. Certainly true for popular attractions like PP, Splash, BTMRR, etc. This would translate to thousands fewer people contesting the walkways at MK.

Walkways are much wider at MK. Everything about WDW has been streamlined to move more people at a more efficient rate...walkways, queue areas, ride placements, meet & greets, restaurant design, etc. The down side to that is less personal attention, less attention to detail, and a less intimate feel compared to DLR.

I have always had the perception that DL does a better job at handling crowds than MK. No proof, just perception.

Yes the queues hold more people. But with less rides there are fewer queues.

The walkway between Tiki Room and past Pirates is always horribly congested!
