day 7- wed 17th August 2011
After getting ready we caught the monorail to The Polynesian Hotel, we had an ADR for Ohana's at 8.10am.
We were seated quickly and a table by the window, the server came quickly and gave us some juice. We started off with the breakfast breads, followed by a plate of fruit.
Then along came a few characters........
We were then brought out the hot food.
Sausages, biscuits (similar to scones) bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes & Mickey waffles.
Stitch came by next, think Luke seemed to like him.
Followed by Pluto.
eventually our server returned, we hadnt seen her since she got us our first drinks and we'd been empty for a while. Other people had brought the food out, and put it on the table, Theyd gone before we'd got a chance to ask for anything.
we got our drinks refilled and also some extra sausages and scrambled egg.
I enjoyed the food here, it was a bit saltier than I was used to but it all had some nice seasoning too.
It took a while to get our bill- I think she was just about to head over, when the table behind us had an exploding glass. One of their kids was banging the glass on the table, it broke cutting the kids hand. so they had to sort out someone for first aid.
Afterwards we decided to explore the Poly, the past few times when booking our holiday we had considered the Poly instead of the CR. So we wanted to look around and just see if it was for us. It is beautiful and does have loads of facilities, however we decided in the end the walkway from MK to the CR is a main advantage. When walking around the Poly we wondered if hawaiian shirts were a compulsory dress code as everyone we saw that morning had one or a hawaiin style dress. Matt also thought after a while he'd get fed up with the constant Aloha greeting.
Next we caught the monorail to the TTC, I did suggest walking but again it was so hot and Matt and Luke were still struggling witht the heat a bit-me, I was fine.
We then caught the monorail from the TTC to Epcot.
We also checked out our leave a legacy tiles, which we got on our 1st visit in 2004.
(top section-bottom row-5th & 6th from right)
Then we headed straight for Spaceship earth, we didnt have to wait too long. Then we decided to find club cool, id read about it several times and was never too sure how we managed to miss it each holiday. We all tasted the drinks, I quickly gave Matt & Luke the beverly flavour but they werent too impressed with it. In fact Luke hardly liked any, I think Matt thought a couple were ok, I enjoyed a few esp the Mexico one.
Not impressed.............
We went to watch Captain EO, it was ok very cheesy. We also went on the journey into imagination with figment ride and looked around Imageworks. We had a lunchtime ADR planned today for Via Napoli. We had only added it in about 1 month before the holiday- I added it in for luke as he loves pizza and pasta. I wanted him to be able to get something he'd enjoy. We kept thinking we may skip it as we werent too hungry and we were a way from it. However at the last minute we decided to keep it as it was very hot and wanted to get out of the heat, so we rushed to Italy.
We were seated quickly and given glasses of iced water, if you wanted bread you could ask for it. We ordered and then I went to the restroom, I came back to a couple of troublemakers mucking about with my camera. They'd taken lots of pictures of sticking out tongues, the salt pot, cutlery etc. cheeky monkeys!
Outside it had started raining really heavily.
inside it was cool and fairly empty, although it filled up quickly with people escaping the rain.
As Luke wasnt hungry we paid oop for a kids meal
Luke-spaghetti & meatballs, Lukes addicted to pasta, so loved this. he didnt eat much but more than expected.
Matt- Vitello - Veal Parmigiana. Matt loved this, it was just right as it wasnt too filling. Also gave him chance to try some pizza.
Nicky-Wood Fired Authentic Pizza Napoletana - Piccante. Italian Spicy Sausage. this was very good, id seen pictures of the pizzas before and theyd looked very black. however this one was cooked perfectly.
Matt- Gelato Frizzante - Ice cream soda Italian style, made with San Pellegrino Aranciata and Vanilla Ice Cream.
Matt really enjoyed this, it was very refreshing.
Nicky-Zeppole Di Catarina - Ricotta Cheese Fritters, served with whipped cream, chocolate sauce. Luke enjoyed helping me to eat these, he enjoyed the cheese fritters but found the choc sauce very bitter. I agree it was very bitter, they tasted better with the cream and chocolate sauce.
I enjoyed the restaurant but found we were seen by many people at the start and then noone near the end-we struggled to get drink refills. The food is also brought out when its ready, the pizzas take longer so Matt & Luke got theirs before I got my pizza. Its not a problem for us and they do warn you when you order. I just know some like it when everyone gets their food at once.
I would love to go again and perhaps try the larger pizzas to share.
When we left the sun was shining again and it was very hot, we carried on anti clockwise around the world showcase. We popped into Biergarten as we had an evening ADR another day and just wanted to double check the location of it. We also looked in Karamell Kuche, it all looked good. Then we went on Malestrom followed by Gran fiesta tour starring the three caballeros.
We headed for Test track but it was closed due to a fault, so Matt went on Mission space while Luke and I went to the electric umbrella for a drink. When we all met up, we looked in Mousegear.
Then we headed for The Land and rode Soaring, followed by living with the land.
We enjoy looking at all the different methods they use to try and grow plants.
Next up was The seas with nemo and friends.
