Bedtime for Characters?

Is there an official cutoff time for characters to make an appearance? What time is too late ? If we have an evening event with the cake cutting around 9:30pm is that too late to have mickey/minnie or a princess or two drop by?

I have no idea if that is too late for an appearance, but I know it's not past their "bedtime" because Fantasmic sometimes has showings at 10 pm.
