beds too hard/uncomfortable at POP

My husband and I stayed 3 nts last week at POP. Our only request was that it NOT be in a handicap accessible room. (2 yrs ago we stayed in a HA room, and the king bed was as hard as a rock.) We were given a great location in the 90's w/2 beds. However, as soon as we saw the beds, we could tell that they would be just as hard.......and they were. Neither of us got much sleep, and got up feeling not only tired, but we were sore all over. We loved the resort, and thought it was a great price with the discount we received. However, the beds were so uncomfortable, there is no way we'll ever be back. We hear so many people comment about how silly it is to pay more money for a larger room that you will only sleep in. (since the days will be spent in the parks, etc) That would make sense, if the beds were comfortable enough to actually sleep in.

Last Sept, our son and his family spent their 1st nt at POP, before switching to the Beach Club Villas for 5 nts. Then they were booked 2 more nts at POP at the end of the trip. They told me that they actually cried at the thought of having to stay those last 2 nts at POP because the beds were so uncomfortable.

I don't remember ever seeing this complaint before. Is it possible that they have different mattresses in different rooms at POP? Our experiences were not just with a firm mattress, but a rock-hard mattress. We spent our 4th nt at the Doubletree. The bed was the 1st thing we checked out, and it was great!

Sorry, that sounds like it was really unpleasant.
I can't say I've had an uncomfortable bed at Pop. I've stayed there 3 times. Every once in awhile we get an uncomfortable bed at a Disney hotel, but I haven't noticed a trend of bad beds at any particular hotel.

I noticed that they were rather firm when we were there back in September, but not to the point of being painful. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience.

We stayed at Pop last February and the beds were the worst! I hardly slept the whole week and my back hurt and I was sore all over too. We have stayed at the values plenty of times, but I think that was the last for a while. We've stayed at CSR, POR, and CBR since that trip and the beds are much better, no back problems.

I really can't tell a difference in the beds at the different resorts. I've stayed in values, mods and a deluxe and it's all the same to me. I never have trouble sleeping at Disney.

 I know just what you mean, except we had the opposite problem. The only time I've slept worse at WDW was when I had food poisoning (don't worry, wasn't from WDW). All I can imagine is that someone used our King-sized POP bed as a trampoline on a regular basis b/c ours was so soft and worn out that when we sat on the edge of the bed it dipped towards the floor and I almost slid off. And we could feel ridges all over the bed, which I'm assuming were the springs. But again, going by the responses to my report we're the only people in the history of POP to get a mattress like this ;)

I've been at POP 4 times now, and have yet to have a bed that was uncomfortable. But....I like my mattress to be on the firm side. I can imagine that there are always going to be instances where mattresses are not to a guests liking. Especially if they are used to a soft mattress. There is no way that everyone is going to be happy and comfy on all the beds, all the time.

Since there are responses from people who didn't have a problem with the beds, as well as from those that did, I still wonder if the bedding is the same in all the rooms. I mentioned to the CM when checking in, that we had a very hard & uncomfortable bed our stay before. She didn't respond at all. I didn't think to ASK her if there were softer beds available. Has anyone out there ever inquired?

As I said, we really like the resort itself. But there is no way we would ever stay again with the beds the way they are.

goofy4tink, we definately are not use to a soft mattress at home. Our mattress here is on the firm side. What we had at POP was hard, not just firm.

I agree with the poster. We really like Pop, but do hate the beds. Whether it is the king bed or 2 doubles they are hard and often I get a terrible sleep on them as I constantly have to change position. This is the only negative I have at Pop. I haven't stayed at a mod lately (CSR in 2006) and bed was comfortable also. Have stayed at AKV, BWV, OKW, WLV, BCV during the past year and all of them have wonderful, comfortable beds. Pop is a good value for the price. Just wish they would upgrade their beds.

I have slept at Pop,the All-Stars,AKL,BC,and BCV. The beds have been all equally comfortable to me.

None of the beds at the Values (Pop, ASMo) or the Moderates (POFQ) have been comfortable. They've all felt hard as a rock and I've never gotten a good night's sleep unless I bring a mattress pad. The mattresses are all 'firm' and I use a pillow-top at home. Yes, I am a Princess and the Pea type of sleeper and I have no problems admitting that. princess:

The mattresses at the deluxe resorts are :cloud9: for my back. I love them! However, when the budget is tight I just pack the memory foam and deal with Pop or POFQ.

So when you take along the memory foam pad for your bed, do you take it off each day, or leave it on during your stay? I'm just wondering how Mousekeeping deals with it, and whether or not that has been an issue with them.

So has anyone ever asked about "softer / less firm" mattresses when checking in or making your ressies? I'm curious as to what you were told.

Thanks!

I think the beds are rock hard also. I have a pillow top at home. No one in my family seems to mind
but me, so I bring a twin memory foam pad and put it on my
side(we drive):woohoo:

1) The beds can real a real problem.
. . . I know some are too hard
. . . I know some are too soft
. . . One blonde girl I know says they are just right.
2) But, that other girl just complained and complained about the pea in the bed.

I only stay at the all-stars/pop for a night or two if I have to. This is because of that exact reason, the beds. Kills my back. I feel it is worth the extra $$ for a moderate. The beds are quite comfy!

This up coming trip(one month from today) we have two nights at POP and 5 at POR. I know that the first two night I will just have to deal!:thumbsup2

Of course I will be at WDW, so I think it will make up for the two nights of bad sleep!!:goodvibes

Many guests have reported that the beds at Pop are very hard.

The newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music have new pillowtop mattresses. They are very" comfy".

I have only read one report where a guest staying in a refurbed Music room did not have the new pillowtop matresses.

I wonder if a few rooms did not update to the pillowtop mattresses because of some disabled guests needing a bed with a lower mattress.:confused3

So when you take along the memory foam pad for your bed, do you take it off each day, or leave it on during your stay? I'm just wondering how Mousekeeping deals with it, and whether or not that has been an issue with them.

I keep mine in a duvet cover and take it off each day. It folds nicely and I just put it up on the shelf in the closet. :thumbsup2

All Disney beds are comfortable after 8 hours of walking and a few too many drinks in World Showcase. :lmao:
