bed sheet changes at Disney resorts?

this may explain the confusion between me and housekeeping on our last trip.

it was the morning of day 2 of our trip and I had called housekeeping for a few extra pillows and 1 extra cover. The lady did not seem to understand what I was asking for. I repeated several times that I wanted 3 more pillows and 1 more cover. By the end of the conversation I was not sure what they were going to bring us, if anything. I planned to go to the park and deal with it when I get back. When we got back I believe they brought 2 covers and 1 pillow. I did not bother to call back and just left it alone for the rest of the trip. Perhaps I should have request for the beds to be completely changed and the extras.

I'm thinking that perhaps they are used to guests asking for the beds to be changed as oppposed to extra items. Maybe that's what confused her.

I for one am glad I read this thread. I just hope I remember it when I go to pack for my next trip. The lysol and wipes are an excellent idea. Can't believe I did not think of it before.

RID is just fancy dog flea spray. Get a bottle of good quality puppy flea spray that is safe for furniture ( it is water based) and spray away. The immediate smell may turn you off but it will dry quickly and will be safe as soon as it dries. Some brands are orange based so they smell great too.
Also, a hand held light is made that shows "fluids" in the dark. It comes with a chart to show you what fluids are what ( they all glow differently). We got ours at the pet shop. It's called " Stink Away" I think.

Let me just say that no they do not change the comforter/blanket. We just returned from a trip to a villa and on night 3 found an old dirty stained sock in the bed. I do not have a child that small or a sock of that kind. GROSS.:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Oh great.
Now I'm grossed out.
And here I was thinking it was kinda gross for them to not change the bedding in a 9 night stay I had recently... but not in between guests either?!!!???????????

*hurl*

The pro-environment cards ask that guests reuse their bath towels and bed sheets in what is unquestionably a worthwhile goal. At home, I use my bath towels for a week or more…well, maybe it's a guy thing. So it's safe to assume that the mind-set is prepared to save and conserve. Why should my home-away-from-home be any different? Flash back to a the Inn by the Lake on the California side of Lake Tahoe. In my room are "Good Earthkeeping" cards, then distributed by the American Hotel & Motel Association. The cards even included a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's endorsement. To drive home the point, the cards emphasized that they were "laminated to reduce waste" and summarized the save-our-earth message in Spanish, French, German and Japanese. (The association has since contracted with Dawsonville, Ga.-based Project Planet for laminated cards and added Chinese to the language list. The message remains the same but an EPA endorsement has yet to come).

I began the day with freshly-laundered sheets and the cards told me that the bed linen could be used repeatedly. Merely place the card on the pillow each morning. Or leave the damp towel on a rack just like at home and you could reuse it the following day. Sounds easy? But the process wasn't that simple. Each morning I dutifully left the laminated card on the pillow and the damp towels on the bathroom towel bars like they said. Each afternoon I'd return to the room and see, amazingly, freshly-laundered sheets and towels. If this was an oversight, I thought I'd find out. I tried again the next day and next but no luck. Finally, I asked the desk clerk why the housekeeping staff ignored my request. The Spanish-speaking housekeepers "probably didn't understand," she responded. But the message was printed in Spanish, I insisted. Should I return to this hotel, I will enjoy the guilt-free luxury of a daily linen change and fresh towels and throw out the environmental reminder cards.
That is a quote from the article linked to on this thread.
From my recent onsite experience at ASMu, they are the same way. They have little cards telling you to help conserve and if you leave your towels hanging- they won't replace them, if you leave them in the tub or floor (or something like that it said) then they will replace them.
They replaced all towels even when I did what they said to NOT replace the towels!!!! *sigh*

*reminder to self. Request bedding change upon checking into resort on next trip*

I had the unfortunate experiece of lice this past November. My 4 yr old was itching his head like crazy and after checking his head found that yes indeed he had lice. I went out and bought the shampoo and the spray right away. These things are almost kill proof---lol kinda like cockroaches and Cher:) anyway you have to wash EVERYTHING in HOT water...everything bedding, jackets, clothes, towels, pillows, couch throws...well you get the idea. Anyway then you spray the mattress, saturate the darn thing, open a window and let the bed dry and the room air out. You ALSO do this to ANYTHING that the person has sat or laid on!!! Everyday you wash the childs hair w/ regular shampoo, use the special comb and comb out more "things", blow dry completely, wash the bedding, towels and pj's again in HOT water...these things can hold their breath...you do this for 10 days!! THEN you use that shampoo AGAIN (not cheap $13 a little bottle) and spray AGAIN!!! We haven't had another experience and no one else got it in the house. He does go to pre-school and I had to notify the school (REALLY fun phone call!) and they checked all the kids and sent a note home. They also removed all the dress up clothes, bagged the toys (yup, gotta put the stuffies in huge ziploc bags for 10 days too!), cleaned the carpets and an array of other cleaning. They had a 4 day weekend so by Monday it was all aired out. I had my son rechecked by the school nurse and he was bug free and returned to school. Lice are not easy to get rid of and truthfully if they don't treat the mattress, pillows and the upholstery simply changing the bedspread isn't going to do anything. Just thought I'd let you all know my experience.

If you are in the hotel room, and you need to sit your naked butt on the comforter, it helps very much to put a fresh towel on the bed, and sit down on it. At least the towels have been washed very recently. It is impossible to protect ourselves from
EVERYTHING ! If you soak in the tub, instead of taking a shower, then it might be best to spray the bathtub with Lysol, first.
