I need to start looking at replacing my queen sized bed. What size is best for somebody who is 6'4"? Is a regular king long enough, or is California King necessary? Aaron (my bf) said he doesn't mind if is his feet hang off the bed as he is used to it, but I figure that's just mean not to have a bed that's long enough. Right now he has a full sized bed and sleeps diagonally, but that's not really going to work with two people!

Also, what kind of bed do you have/prefer? I have a sleep number right now and really like it, other than that space the center. The store told me to call customer service and they will have a solution, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm thinking about a Tempurpedic or similar (I think someone has said Costco has a really good (and cheaper) version.

DH is 6'3" and we have a king.

Our mattress is a Simmons. It has a plush top, semi firm with the memory foam. I can't remember the exact name, but there were several "levels" of firmness. It is towards their top of the line. We really like it! We don't feel each other's movements at all.

I have learned over the years not to skimp on mattresses. If I don't get a good night's sleep, I am a mess the next day.

Sounds like ksjayhawks and I have about the same bed. My DH is 6'4" so I completely relate. No matter what mattress you decide on, if you have a choice between California and Eastern Kings I would go with the California. There's a teensy bit narrower, but they are longer. DH is very happy with the length of the bed - no dangling feet! I can promise that your BF won't hang off the end, but I can't promise that he won't be a bed hog.

Good luck! :goodvibes

my son who is six eight sleeps comfortably in a queen-but on the diagonal-we have a regualr king and its long enough for him. We have a sleep number also-that center thing never bothers us except when DH is deployed-when i sleep alone i tend to want to sleep in the center of the bed-then i really notice that.

Thanks for the info! It's not something to worry about until we get married next June, but I want to start keeping my eye out for sales. It's good to know that a King may be long enough. I don't have a big house and I'm not entirely sure how a California King will fit in my bedroom (and I heard they are a pain to get sheets for).

I have a Costco membership and have heard some good things about their version of the Tempurpedic. Has anybody tried theirs?

My DH is 6ft 4 and he does fine in a King. Our mattress is a pillow top we got several years ago from Kittles so I forget what brand it is and DH is still asleep so I can't go look.
