Bed Bugs!!

During our May 2018 stay in a BCV 1-Bedroom my wife and I both had an itchy bumpy rash start about our 3rd day there that, based on our Google images search, looked just like bed bug bites. We checked the room thoroughly and didn't see any signs of infestation. It took almost another week and a half before the bumps cleared up and our kids never had a SINGLE bite. Im still not sure if it was bed bugs or if we somehow brushed up against something like poison ivy or poison oak on property (we never left the bubble the entire week).

Where are you from? I only ask because it could have been heat rash. I started to notice it when I would come down from the Midwest in the months shortly after winter. I was nervous the first time I had it thinking the worst, but then I noticed the pattern.

I'm guessing heat rash; being out all day at the parks in a hot humid climate is the perfect storm for heat rash. Looks just like bed bug bites.

Wow...this is a game changer. How long does it take for them to bring the dogs? My girls will HATE me if I do this. They'll want to throw their stuff in the room and head to the parks. This will also embarrass them. Sigh.

How does this work? Do you just go to the front desk when you get there before you go into the room?
Very interested in this.......

I want to know this too! Has anyone actually done this who can report back? I feel like they will just look at me like I'm a crazy person if I ask for this (which, to be honest, I am a crazy person when it comes to how much I worry about bed bugs!). If you've done this, how long did it take? Did you request it ahead of time like you would for an allergy deep clean? Were you satisfied that it was actually done?

You are not alone. My husband and I both work in jobs that we frequently come into contact with people who have bed bugs or have to go in their homes. We decided to be proactive and we have a monthly bed bug inspection and treatment to protect us. We are both super careful and take all the precautions to not bring them home but if by chance we do we bring them home we have the protection plan. It puts our minds at ease.

Not a heat rash. Im a Floridian(born in Ocala), thats been in Atlanta since 2001. If you've ever had poison ivy after a few days it flattens out into "disks", the best way I can describe them. This looked just like that after a few days, but exactly like bed bugs the first few days. I wish I had known about the dogs. They could have done a mid-stay sniffing. pug:

not if you arrive early in the day, check your carry ons at bell services and then had to the parks immediately! They will have all day to take care of it, and you will have a fantastic time in the parks while your room is getting inspected!

I’m completely phobic about bes bugs - I cant even read this whole thread because I’m staying at POFQ and just the first post sent wild ideas about changing hotels last minute into my head. However, I travel a lot, so it’s something I’ve had to develop a routine around. I immediately put my luggage in the bathtub, then get out my little blue light flashlight and gloves and do a full inspection. It sounds a little crazy, I know, but it’s how I deal without freaking out. I also spray my suitcase with eco raider before travelling.
