Just read a report on another thread about bed bugs at Vero Beach this week. I guess I've been a bit naive thinking it wouldn't be a problem at DVC properties but I suppose no resort is immune. Anyone else have this problem?

I have read threads on here about bed bugs, and people always make it sound like these bugs are really tiny like lice. I have read some descriptions of them being like the size of a pin head. So I didn't know. I thought maybe they were sand tics or something... just not bed bugs.
I caught the bugs and flushed them. I did NOT let the kids sleep in this bed. I even did this every day. If I saw the bugs I got them with tissue and flushed them. I then decided to save some in a baggie. I now feel really, really stupid.
So when we checked out, I took my baggie with the bugs to the front desk. Let me tell you... they tried to stay calm, but I could see it on their faces. They called some managers, and asked me to wait. A manager came out and shook my hand and sat me down and said she had to have a talk with me. At that point I just knew these bugs were bed bugs.
She said that these bugs were indeed bed bugs. We said that they hadn't seen them at Vero Beach in quite some time. She said that in her opinion they probably were brought in the room from the previous guest. She said that even though the room had been cleaned before we arrived, that the cleaning doesn't cover getting rid of bed bugs. She asked if the kids were okay, and I told her I hadn't let them sleep in that bed.
She talked to me for quite awhile, and then told me that she had to develop a plan of action."
