By the time anything gets posted on that website, Disney has taken care of it and resolved the problem.

No bed bugs in our three stays in the last three months in four different rooms at three resorts.

No bed bugs the week of October 18 at SSR! Headed back to YC Wednesday...DH already there and no bed bugs!

I have often wondered just how much the environmental energy savings notion of “cold water” laundry impacts on the infestation of bed bug rise throughout the country. After all, one of the ways to defeat the problem with these critters’ is by applying heat or steam to the bug-ridden area and it all seems to have started when “cold water” laundry became the energy savings thing to do at all these lodging sites.

That's an interesting thought.

I hope I never come across any little critters!

I don't think that the wash cycle kills bedbugs, even with hot water. It is the heat of the drying cycle that kills them.

We were at BWV last month and no bed bugs---and we had 3 rooms.
I did buy some repelent spray for my luggage for this next trip to Universal and WDW since I fly. Not sure if it will even make a difference.

That’s something we should think about seeing that we are driving and the suit cases, for the most cases, go on the floor for the overnight stays.

One of the points I just read it says “Try to pack only what can be laundered in hot water—heat is the bedbug’s Achilles’s heel”— so maybe all the cold water washing does have something to do with the spread of these critters. :confused3

What is the name of the product and where do you buy it?

Thanks.

Saw a cool suggestion a while ago to put a flea collar on you suitcase handle to repel the buggers. Don't know if it works, but thought it was kind of a good idea.

We stay in a WDW property for 5-7 nights 4 times a year since 2001 and have never had a bed bug problem. I know this is a major problem in the US right now, but I wonder how reliable those reporting websites are.

Hi-

I purchased my bed bug sprays on Amazon.com. I know my friend found some at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

I purchased: JT Eaton Bedbug Control for Luggage and Mattresses and another travel sized product called Rest Easy which is organic and cinnamon scented. I will use the first product on my luggage and the organic product in my rooms.

:)

My girlfriend sprayed her suitcase with a cinnamon scented spray. She said it was so strong she had to buy a new suitcase. Everyone in my family has asthma. If you use this sent on suitcases and in villas, we won't be able to fly on the plane or stay in the villa. It's as bad as having to ask for a non smoking room.

I think the spread of bedbuds is more likely due to the banning of many common insecticides in recent years, than with the widespread use of cold water. I would think that most fols still wash their bed linens in hot water, and even so, almost everyone uses a dryer these days. Very few people still hang their sheets out to dry.

Great question, we we're eaten alive by something at OKW last spring and think it was in the bed. We stripped the bed, checked everyware found nothing, but it happened three nights. But we had this a few years prior and thought it might be the noseeems bugs at night the bites lasted for weeks

Us too! They are some sort of no-see-ums. Seems as though the 'itch' flares up at night, thus making you want to scratch your ankles/lower legs raw!---affects me more than my husband. At least that was OUR experience....got it good while drinking margaritas at the gurgling suitcase one night. Now we pack the Deep Woods Off towelettes and some antihistamine and it really helps. Our first thought was bed bugs, but not so, nothing in site after a good check.
