Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

(Bumped from the weekly thread)

Good evening everyone, glad to see some of you got out and worked out today. :thumbsup2

Our bus run today started at Sandy Beach, and instantly climbed up the backside of Koko Head Crater. Got the heart pumping right of of the gates.

When we reached 3 miles, the skies opened up and poured on us. Since it was hot, it was actually a nice relief.

My family met us at the 4 mile mark with ice cold water and pretzels. Everyone was thankful for the "Oh-hana Ohassis" (our last name is Oh).

Trudging along in the humidity, we met up with them again at the 10 mile mark for a second helping.

Upon returning to our normal starting point, we only logged 13.25 miles, so I headed for a loop around the zoo, to make it an uneven 14.25 miles. Average pace for the whole day was 9:57 per mile.

Guru Les came down with a cold last Thursday, yet still ran at a 8:00 minute or under pace.:scared1:

We decided we're going to take Tuesday off, for his cold, and my tight tendon in my right foot (slight plantiar fasciitis). Whoo hoo, a rest day!

Came home to rest, but Princess #2 insisted we build a bird feeder for the yard. Got it built, now painting it, and waiting for it to dry. Once the second coat goes on, we can put the finishing touches on it, and hang it in the yard.

Meanwhile, Princess #1 went catfishing at the local reservoir with our friends from Girl Scouts. She came home with this prize, but didn't want to take her picture holding it :

Tracey: As far as form, I try to keep my hands down at waist level or lower, and run open handed instead of with clenched fists. The more relaxed my arms are, the less tense my breathing, and less upper body movement. I'm in a groove when I can zone out everything around me, and just hear my feet on the ground, and I'm breathing easy in and out.

Do a google search for Mother & Daughter get banned for life from Disneyland. The photo is pretty funny. It's actually a picture from Mardi Gras in New Orleans, but it involves Mickey & Minnie like you've never seen them before.

Ha,ha....I didn't have to google that one. I know EXACTLY the photo you mean. :rotfl: In the last 12 months I have had at least 10 different people email me that link........ usually with a message that goes like this: "I see you and your daughter have been misbehaving in Disney World again!" I actually sent to my own daughters (fully grown) but they wrote back "Ewwwww, gross!" :rotfl:
Congrats on your recent long run. It does sound beautiful in Hawaii. Nice fish!

Maria: take care of yourself, willya girl? We love you

Debra: don't be impressed....it never even occurred to me I could look up a definition by googling it. DUH! I even had to get up out of my seat to get the dictionary! I guess I'm showing my age.......do young people even own dictionaries any more?

Amy: glad to hear your daughter is on the mend.

Tracey: I can so relate to what you deal with everyday. I had 4 kids in 5 years so life was absolutely crazy for a decade or two. I always used to tell myself that when the kids got older they wouldn't remember that the floors were mopped, the house was dusted, etc. They WOULD remember that I took the time to read them a book, play a game, or color a page with them. When they got older(late teens), we invented the Hooch porch. If they wanted to talk, we would go to this tiny little porch off my master bedroom and enjoy a Hooch together. It may not be very conventional, but it did lots to keep the lines of communication open. To be honest, I really don't miss those younger years. My kids turned out to be such awesome adults, I could never go back. That is the true reward of motherhood and you will experience it yourself one day too.

Howard: :welcome: Our ranks are growing!

Vic: did we really miss your birthday? A belated :bday: to you!

Everyone else: "hi" :thumbsup2

do young people even own dictionaries any more?

What's a dictionary? And while I'm at it, what's a vinyl record, record player, 8 track player, cassette player, a typewriter, rotary phone, carbon paper, walkman, mimeograph, Poloroid? Oh I could go on and on and on. :lmao:

Good Morning Lean Meaners!

Very busy weekend. It was DOOC's birthday. We celebrated with a trip out of town. We had a great day.

I got 6 miles in on Saturday morning, but not soon enough to beat the 90 + degree heat. And I was home before 8:00 am! But it is July and it is hot and it is to be expected. I am grateful I have the TM, to turn too, right now.

Debra - I hope you got a good night's sleep.

Jeff - You are dating yourself. Especially with that 8-track statement! Did you eat the fish?

Jeanne - I knew that picture wasn't you. Eyes weren't big enough! :lmao:

Tracey - Kids are hard, but darn well worth it. I raised them alone. We cooked together and cleaned together and played together. I am so glad they are all grown. I enjoyed them little and I enjoy them even more as adults!

Maria - I am hoping that your work settles down and settles in. Good luck I am sending you lots of PD!

Amy - Glad to hear the baby is on the mend.

I am so sorry I missed so many. I am thinking of all of you!

Make a great and healthy day! -- Connie

HI guys! Just wanted to pop in and let you all know I'm thinking about you. My training has been hit or miss lately. I was hoping to bike or swim yesterday... Even went to a sporting good's store and bought a swim cap and bike helment... LTO though and it never happened. I'm always so irritated w/ that happens--especially on a Monday because I feel like it throws my week all off. Do you know why I didn't get anything in??? DH decided he wanted an aquarium so we spent TOO MUCH TIME at the Pet Store on the way home last night! ugh. Plus I had a chiro appt (and I feel much better now! yay!). I didn't get up in time this morning to get C25K in, but I am determinded to do it late tonight (8:45ish) after our religious meeting. If I don't my entire workout week will be flushed down the toilet w/ this all or nothing person!

Please send some PD my way to help give me strength to get back on track!

Love you all! :lovestruc

How's it going, Lean Meaners? It's Tuesday, and I am all by my lonesome at work. My df, PaDisneyFan, took the day off! I miss her, but I am sure she is having a VERY productive day. She nevers really takes the day off, she is just working on the home front today!

So, I was a very good girl today. I got up at 5:15 AM to run. I hate to get up, by I knew if I didn't, there would be no run for me today. I did a couple of classes yesterday at the gym, but I didn't get to run. So, I did it this morning!!!! Yeah me!

Eating is another story.....I was good yesterday...but don't talk about the weekend, ok??? :confused3 :confused3 What happens to all of our 'healthy' plans, anyway?

I am running alot right now.....and I am hungry! What a combo! I run so I can eat!

Lisa: I hope things get better for you. I don't know the happenstance of the problem, but I know that whatever it was,was unintentional. Keep your chin up, we love you!

Debra: I hope you find out soon about your fall class. It's hard to 'figure' out your life as it is, but when something else like that is hanging in limbo, it drives me crazy!

Howard: Welcome to the MEAN and LEAN team. Have to say that your are taking the "lean" part of that seriously! Good for you on the weight loss......but I am envious! :worship:  :worship: I can't seem to get these last few pounds off. Please share all your wisdom. I need it!

Jeanne: Has your life settled down much? You are one busy woman. I am glad you enjoy your adult children. That is my dream! I hope I can live to see my boys become enjoyable and decent adults. Right now though, I would enjoy a day that they are not fighting!

Wendy: Let me know if you get to that 'love yourself naked' phase. I don't see it happening for me, but I am trying!

Amy: Hope the babies are better. Very scarey indeed.

WWDave: You are my hero. You are training like a professional, all the while you are working a being a wonderful husband. You really need to be a life coach for the rest of us. You are a positive in a very negative world.

To everyone else.......Stacie, Tracey, Connie, Big Vic, Bill, and anyone else I missed......I hope things are going well with you!

Wagon Tip of the Day: (((((these are getting harder and harder for me, by the way)))))) Lets jump start our weight loss. Maybe just changing one or two days a week.......Try a vegetarian day, or a lower carb day. Sometimes when we change things up a little, our bodies will be 'confused' and maybe try to give up some of the weight we are carrying. On a vegetarian day, try a new fish or egg recipe (we still need a protein, don't we?). And, remember to drink water throughout the day to get rid of some of those toxins we build up!

Beth

Good morning lean meaners!
Deb...I fully understand the "cramming" lifestyle. My kidlets know that time is dwindling before heading back and they're trying to "get it all in" before time runs out. In fact, I'm doing the same. I'm one of the few moms who is very sad when they go back to school.:sad2: So in making up your own intervals, are you consistent in having them the same length or just taking one when you're in need of a break? Was Wall-E just as good the 2nd time around? My MIL is taking my DS 10&8 to see it on Thursday.
She tells me that they'll be disappointed, but they really want to see it.:)

Jeff...thanks for the input on form. That's a nice cat, my boys will be amazed.

Jeanne...what a great philosophy to raise your kids by. I try really hard to live up to that standard, but I find myself getting caught up in the "house" duties as well. I agree with keeping the communication open and I love your idea of a special place to talk. My kids "google" everything even though we do have a dictionary in the house.

Connie....Kids are great, aren't they! I imagine it was really hard raising them on your own, but it sounds like you did a fabulous job. My oldest is 15 and I'm learning about the teenage years quickly. Luckily, he's been as easy one to learn on. Now, if I can get through teaching him to drive, I'll be a happy girl.

Stacie...pixiedust: :pixiedust: :pixiedust: Now, even if you're tired, commit to getting out for 10 minutes tonight. Sometimes, you just need to get started and you'll keep going.:)

Beth....I'm with you on the running/eating thing. The more mileage I add, the hungrier I am. It also doesn't help that I stopped writing down my food intake.

Lisa, Vic, Maria, Mike, Howard, Wendy, Amy, Dave, and anyone else:

Today is a run day for me---4 miles and I'm feeling really tired already. We're also off to buy more school supplies.:sad2: Have a great day all!

Good Morning to all Lean Meaners!

I had a LONG day yesterday..I was at work until almost 7, which is very unusual for me. DD was tired, so I didn't even get to spend that much time with her when I got home. :sad2:

I did squeeze in w3D1 though after she went to bed. It went well, although I couldn't run the intervals as fast as I had hoped too since my PF was acting up. I had to wear real shoes to work yesterday and I blame that! It feels MUCH better today though. It felt good to put the time and miles down on my excel chart. Pilates and a walk with DD today!

I was perusing the MfM plan last night and it is 14 weeks, so I think i am going to tack on a week or 2 at the beginning. I also saw that the first few LR's are 3 and 4 miles so I am going to add a LR each week to my prehalf training schedule. I am undecided about hitting the 13.1 miles before raceday. There is a local half in december that I think would fall at an appropriate point in training, that I may use as a training long run. Not sure though.

Tracey I am going to try and follow the recommended intervals in MfM. They seemed reasonable. I think starting out, they are 3 run, walk 2. I am hoping that by completing C25K prior to starting training, these intervals will be a piece of cake. I think the biggest challenge to me on race day will be sticking to whatever interval I feel comfortable at. I know I always end up running way too much at the start and then for these longer distances, I can see that will probably hurt me time wise in the long run.

Debra I really needed/wanted a plan that would allow me to have a life! It just seemed like a really reasonable plan and easy to adjust to suit your needs/schedule. It sounds like you have done alot of fun things lately! I think I am going to send DH out to see Dark Knight this weekend. The last book in my current favorite book series (Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer) is coming out this weekend, so I am sure I will be absorbed in that. I don't like to admit that I read these books, because they are young adult and have a heavy teen following, but it is such an entertaining story. (I felt better when I found some other people my age reading it too!)

Stacie pixiedust: for getting in the C25K today! Even if you only have the time to do half of the workout!

Hi to everyone I missed! Have a good day!

Amy...I am exactly where you are at. I'm hoping to do W3D1 tonight and I am doing the MfM plan too. I think I'm going to extend it by a few weeks, but am also still undecided about the long runs. It's only got us going to 10 for our longest, but I may try to add 11 or 12 in there. For me, I think I'd rather push myself that last 1.2. miles on race day.

Let me know what you decide to do. When will you start? According to my calculations, I was supposed to start the week of Oct 6, but I'm thinking of backing it up to starting the week of Sep 22 instead.

Stacie

It's the little things...

Good Morning, Meaners!

I am now seated comfortably in my new chair at work, and I'm lovin' it. It is ergonomically correct, and so comfortable, I may never get up again. This would actually work well today, because I am still dizzy. I am not getting up unless I have to. DH told me to stay home, and if it wasn't my busy time and if anyone else could do my work, I would have. I'm just going to keep taking the allergy pills and hoping for the best. Surely tomorrow will be better...It's like I'm ever so slightly out of phase with the rest of the world, not enough to really be noticeable, but enough to be uncomfortable and just the tiniest bit unsteady on my feet. :confused3

Amykab -- You have inspired me! Since I am stuck in one place, I'm going to see what I can do with a spreadsheet to plot my workouts, miles and minutes. I already write them on a calendar after I do them, it certainly makes sense to keep track and plan ahead. I missed more of MfM last year than I would have liked, I think this will help keep me on track. Sorry you had such a long work day yesterday. It is really disappointing when you don't get to interact with the little ones as you'd like. :sad1:

Tracey -- I haven't even started to buy school supplies yet! We have a list, I just haven't done anything with it. We need to pick up ds's uniforms, at least I did order those. All I need for him are new shoes. What is it with these kids, anyway? Nobody told me they were going to keep growing!

Beth -- I love the idea of changing it up for a day. I have to share with you the way my ds was making his "rainbow" of food. He made his lunch for camp and he was so proud he had so many colors -- pink gogurt, red grapes, cucumbers, mandarin oranges, and a blue blow-pop. I didn't have the heart to tell him the gogurt and blow-pop didn't exactly count, at least he was trying! :thumbsup2

Stacie -- I like the advice you were given, sometimes we just have to start. I know I'm that way. I'm the object at rest that tends to stay at rest :rotfl2:

Lisa -- Hang in there, I know things are probably a bit unfun with work right now. :grouphug:

Connie -- Thanks for the PD! I think work is messing with alot of us right now. Doesn't anybody else realize this is vacation season?!

Jeff -- That was a serious fish! Do you like catfish? I ate it (and caught it) all the time growing up, but I never see it in the Northeast? :confused3

Jeanne -- When ds was in 2nd grade, the Rotary gave dictionaries to all the classes in our neighborhood. The kids didn't quite know what to do...I actually have both a dictionary and a thesaurus on my desk at work, and I do use them. I'm just old-fashioned that way :wizard:

Debra -- What an awesome weekend you had! It sounds like a ton of fun. I am not a big drinker (It is the only area in which I am the lightest of weights), but I love a good diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, or A & W RootBeer. It's not really by design, I just don't like beer, and everything else seems like too much effort. I will have an occasional mojito if we're out, and margaritas in any sort of Mexican establishment. I get enough other empty calories, trust me! :rolleyes1 That said, I like to relax and enjoy your posts.Sometimes they are the entertainment in my day...but not today -- Season premiere of Eureka tonight, and the new Stargate movie is out on dvd today! I might even break out the microwave popcorn! popcorn::

Dave -- If you're going to smirk at our nudist, that's ok. But I want to hear a few words from you occasionally, too! We miss our Panda! :grouphug:

Vic -- :grouphug: We're thinking of you.

:teleport: Ok, where are Wendy, Bill, Cindy, Mike, Howard, and the other Lean Meaners? Are you using science to escape detection?!

Ok, Lean Meanies, have a great day!
Maria

Aloha Jeff: What a great description of your run--and I especially liked the part where your very OHn support crew provided an Ohasis for everyone! You had a great pace, too, IMO! I hope your PF isn't anything serious. That's a mighty big catfish Princess #1 caught--and uuuuuggggllly! I suppose they make good eating, though. :confused3

Ah, classic technology. We still own vinyl, though I need to replace a record player, and an Underwood typewriter, We also have a Brownie and I should probably pick up a Polaroid and lots of film if I want to get on that bandwagon. I want a rotary phone eventually, once we buy a house. And I'm old enough to remember 8-tracks and Pong.

Jeanne: I'm not young, but I own several dictionaries and a thesaurus. DOOD aspires to the full OED, too. And I think I should feel embarrassed for using google as a verb. A Hooch porch?? Sounds fabulous, just what I would have liked to have. And I can tell you're an awesome mom, just from your descriptions of your relationships with your adult children. I mean, they want to hang out with you! How cool is that? :goodvibes

Dave: Smirky, smirky! It's great to see you here--I and loved this week's Panda thread!

Connie: Happy belated birthday to DOOC! :bday: It sounds like it was fun. And congrats for getting your 6 miles in, despite the heat. :scared1: You're another person, like Jeanne, who has a great relationship with her kids. And your grandkids, too! :goodvibes

Stacie: pixiedust: PD to you for your busy, busy week. I know you can do it! :cheer2: You'll get your c25K done tonight and set yourself for a week of success, if for no other reason than you KNOW it will make you feel better! (And you have to report in to us. ;) ) You've decided on your 1/2 training plan--woo hoo! And :yay: for your good-feeling chiro appointment. The aquarium sounds like fun, if time-consuming. I know my cats would like it, anyway.

Beth: Oooh, a Nancy-less day. That must make work a little less fun--I enjoy Nancy's posts so much that I know she must be a card IRL. Yay for the early a.m. running and getting it done. I'm with you on the eating front, and not quite sure why I'm having challenges. Usually I don't have problems in the summer because of the heat, fresh fruits and veggies, etc....Your boys always sound so active and happy to me, I can't imagine they'll be anything but happy, productive adults too. (Taking after you, of course.)

Tracey: It must be all the more challenging cramming the summer activities in with children--lots of different things to do, different opinions, etc. I can totally see you becoming a little "schoolsick" for DSs at the start of the new year. I loved Wall-E, even more the second time around, but I'm not sure how kids would feel about it. It seems to be a rather adult film (not in theme, but in tone, pace, etc., if that makes any sense). It's been hard for me to tell what other audience members think, esp. kids. If your boys like sci-fi films I think they'll like it. It is a really good movie, but not your standard Pixar film. Good luck with today's run! :thumbsup2

Amy: I hope you're recovered from yesterday's long day--it must have been exhausting. So WTG with C25K--between being tired and your PF it must have been challenging. It also sounds as if your half training is shaping up nicely. Using a half as a training run is a great idea, as it will give you a chance to test out your pre-race strategy; I wish I had done one last year. This year, I'm planning on doing ToT during my marathon training for fun, and I planned my schedule so that the race coincides with an lighter week. (Any excuse for a Disney trip, huh?)

You're not a Dark Knight fan, but are a vampire-fiction fan?? But....they're connected through the whole bats thing?! :lmao: I've requested the first Twilight book from the library based on the recommendation of Nancy (padisneyfan), my Ohana teammate. I'll read it after I finish the the second Stephanie Plum book by Janet Evanovich (hear that, Maria? :) ). I think a lot of YA novels are quite well-written, and more and more authors are crossing over from adult fiction to write YA.

Maria: You're back at work, and in a comfy, cozy, ergonomic chair! :woohoo: I wish this turn of events meant you're feeling a little bit better, health-wise, but alas! So I'll just hope that you get better each day, and that there's no work-related drama to contribute to your dizziness. But no margaritas for you! (And I'm glad I d0n't offend you with my drinking references. ;) ) And THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the reminder that Eureka starts tonight. I'll have to set up the DVR because DOOD isn't into the series (he's got no taste, I tell you) and so I'll have to wait until we have some time apart.

Vic: I've been thinking of you and your community all this week. I hope you're doing better.

Mike: How is your marathon training going--have you started already, or are you still riding the tri high?

Lisa: I hope your weekend went well with the kidlets' games and your taper. You're survivng the madness, aren't you? And PD to your FIL for his upcoming operation, too. :wizard: Even if you can't respond to posts, know that I'm thinking of you!

Cindy, Wendy, Howard, Bill, AmyBeth, et al. Have a Lean, Mean, GREEN day!

As for me: It turns out, I DON'T want to, or need to, see every one of Shakespeare's plays in production. Ugh, hated it as both a play and as a performance. There's a reason Troilus and Cressida is a problem play.

More important, though, I'm really disappointed in myself. The staged reading was held at a small, independent theatre, with a lavish table set-up of wine, cheese, fruit, etc. for patrons. A way to encourage mingling and provide fund-raising before and after the play. I indulged myself, not because the play was long (although it was 3 hours) and I was hungry, but because the introvert in me was stressed out. I find small talk with theater folks very difficult, especially when I'm not impressed. There's only so many ways I can say that I appreciate the mission of indie theater, the actors' hard work, and the challenges of Shakespeare before I want to tell them the truth. So I ate and drank which had the benefit of keeping my mouth shut. But really, it was a response to stress and one I shouldn't have succumbed to. :sad2:

So today I'm in the "regrets and recriminations" mode, fighting with myself about my actions. Not very productive, but there it is. I just need to pull myself out of the funk and start goal-planning for August, I guess.

What are YOUR August goals?

That catfish got fillet'd last night, and is going to either be grilled, or cornmealed and fried for dinner tonight. I haven't decided yet.

Believe it or not, it was one of the smaller ones caught by the group who went. Oddly, the group catches fish when I'm not there, and we don't catch any fish when I am there. :confused3 Anyways, they caught 20, but were only permitted for 16, so 4 smaller ones went to the game wardens to take home for dinner.

1000 lashings with a wet noodle for Deb, shame on you for stuffing your mouth instead of mingling with the crowd.

I'm aking the day off running, to let my slight plantiar faciitis heal. That, and Guru Les is knocked out by a cold. Whoo hoo, I can relax for a day! :cool1:

Hey Everyone! It was another fun filled day at work for me! :rolleyes2 :rolleyes2
CAN'T WAIT for tomorrow! :woohoo: (that would be a sarcastic woohoo!)

Anyhow, at least I got home earlier. DD, DH and I ended up going for a 3.25 mile walk. we returned our movie to blockbuster! we took the shortcut there and the long way back. Since the walk was a bit longer than I planned, I'll be doing my pilates tomorrow.

Stacie Just checked out my chart and 16 weeks out is starting 9/22. I think I am good starting at that point. I am leaning towards doing the local half as practice. It falls right around the 10 miler long run week. The other races I have planned for october ( a RFTC 10K and TOT) are a little long for that point in training, but if I start slowly increasing my long run miles now a bit, I should be in good shape. Keep me posted on your C25K, I'd love to have a virtual training buddy for that!

Debra Nothing too much against Dark Knight, just no babysitter :sad2: Did you find it to be really long?? That is the main comment I have heard from people.

I tore through all 3 twilight books last August. I have my 12 yo niece to blame for getting me started on that. She had her nose buried in these books the whole time she was visiting and I had to see what all the fuss was about. I literally about cried when I realized I'd have to wait a year for the final book! I am totally invested in what happens to the characters. It's also fun to have something like this to talk about with my niece. She LOVES to read. I will be on line at B and N at midnight on friday to get my book!

August Goals Revisit my July goal of sticking to training/exercise plan. Vacation made that July Goal too difficult to keep up with.

I think I will be addressing eating in September. I don't think I do all that bad with eating, but I know it could be better and with half training on the horizon I need to make sure I am properly fueled and hydrated.

I hope everyone has a good evening!

Jeanneg~ Thank you for the welcome!

Beth~ I think my success in the "lean" area has to do with the following:

A. Having some weight to drop.
B. Eating better, more often, with portion control and avoiding chocolate chip cookies and most treats.
C. Adopting a training plan for the upcoming marathons in my future (A half in Sept, marathon in October, marathon in November, Goofy + 5K in January).
D. Racking up just over 31 miles plus cross training this past week, etc.

As I mentioned to Craig & Martha, it is simply burning more calories than I am taking in. As of today, I am down to 194.4 from a high of 210 in early May and 206 when I began the training on May 27. I have another 10 pounds to shed, I think it will take another month, possibly two to get there. I should be in good shape for the October Marine Corps Marathon.

I am still mean, (getting) lean and I am definitely enduring my runs... I guess I've arrived! :lmao: :thumbsup2

Hi to everyone! Yes, I mean you!

:grouphug:

Howard

Here I am...head hung. Folks, I didn't make it last night. It was 7:15 before we got home and I had to be at the meeting at 7:30. Didn't get home until 9:45 and I couldn't do it. I just couldn't make myself go out and train at 9:45 pm. It's that inner structuredness. I've come w/ this magical number of 8:30 and if I can't be out by 8:30, I feel like it's "against the rules" to do it. I think I am crazy!!!

Matt and I will have to have a heart-to-heart because the physical activity seems to have lost it's priority. I know that come 1/2 Marathon training time, it will be bumped back up on the list. I know that I need to get "base" stuff in too. WHY can't I do it? UGH! I am so frustrated with myself. :headache:

So..again...my goal today is to get home, do my C25K and then go the gym for some swim laps. Or it may have to be reversed, but I am still hoping to get in my C25K today W3D1 and then I'll do W3D2 on Friday, W3D3 on Sunday and get back on schedule next Tuesday.

Amykb--How did you adjust your long mileage for those additional two weeks?

Right now the Long Run/Walks look like this: 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 4, 8, 6, 10, 8, 5. So how would add an 11 and 12 mile run and taper? I'm not experienced enough to know this.

Howard--Congrats again on getting lean. I'm trying, but it's just not working. Maybe it's this lack of physical activity... :sad2:

Debra--I feel ya on the regret feeling today. Thanks for stopping by my journal and asking if I got the C25K in. I hated have to come in here and report I didn't. I find small talk in general pretty tough most of the time. I seriously have to put on my friendly, outgoing actress person. I have to be mentally prepared and I feel like I'm acting. Give me an Oscar!

Beth--Great job getting up early and getting your workout in! What a great example. That is what I really NEED to do!!!

I have a Wagon Tip...If you don't mind! I read that it's a good idea--especially for those that work--to put 3 pieces of fruit on your desk and aim to have all those eaten before you leave for the day. This helps to get in your daily fruit allotment!

Jeff, Vic, Panda, Jeanne, Connie, Tracey, Lisa, Mike and all...Hope you all are well!!!

Have a great day you guys!

Stacie: Don't be so hard on yourself. We have all been there. LTO.....nothing we can do about it. That being said......take a look at your 'normal' schedule during the week. Maybe write it all down, and schedule your exercise time. And try to keep to it......I know the unexpected comes up, but if you have your schedule written down maybe it will be easier for your family to respect that time you need. Some days maybe it will be easier to get up and get it done before work, some days you can squeeze it in after work. Look at it like a work project.....it has to get done. Maybe that will help???:confused3

I know how frustrating it is to have a plan and it not work. I heep alot of guilt on myself for it when it doesn't happen. It's counter productive to get down on yourself. You need to step back and review all that you have accomplished. It's all good.......and it will all come back to you, don't worry.

Hi guys.:flower3:

Stacie, I totally understand where you are coming from. When I turned 50, almost 7 years ago I was working a job that was 8am to 8pm 5 and sometimes 6 days a week. I was fat and terriblely out of shape. I would get winded washing the windshield of my car when I got gas. I took another job (the one I have now) for less money but more me time. I was killing myself for money.

I started walking at the mall in the mornings. It was a year before I got my fitness back. But it worked out because now I make more money and my energy level and out look for a long healthy life is outstanding.

Debra, I'm sorry I've been taking care of some stuff and all my computer time has been spoken for. I have missed posting here and I promise to do better.

Maria, dear, I love our resident nudist, she makes me laugh with her wittyness. Is that a word? But I will be better and visit my pretty princess buddies more often.

I to think Howard and Cam are wonderfull in their support for each other. Erica and I are the same way.

I can't wait to meet those of you I haven't met and hug those of you I have met.

Happy Panda:hippie:

And we all love our Panda! :lovestruc

ha,ha...speaking of nudity, I did manage to tape that Carson Kressley show last night.....but I didn't watch it yet. Primetime had the story about Randy Pausch on at the same time so I watched that instead. I hope alot of us got the chance to see it. What an amazing man! I gotta admit I was in tears when it was over. I loved the very, very end where he talks about how just because we lose the battle, it doesn't mean the fight was in vain.......wow, really powerful stuff! I think he would like all of us WISH folk....we really embody all that positive energy he talks about. I have the whole show taped and I don't plan to erase it. Next time I feel like having a pity party for one, I think I will watch that show instead. For those that missed Primetime last night, you will be able to get the message by reading his book "The Last Lecture".......it's got to be on all the best seller lists everywhere this week.
Anyway, I'm in a a real touchy-feely mood today, so if I haven't told you lately that I love you all, i'm doing it now! Hugs to all my WISH buddies! :flower3:
