Good evening Lean Meaners! After a long weekend of nothing exciting (see below), I'm treating myself to some "you" time (which is really me time but focused on the pleasure I get catching up with you).
Amy: Oh, it definitely sounds like you're getting strength training in; I hope it didn't sound like I was challenging your schedule. I just ask follow-up questions (when I graded papers, I used to use the abbreviation F-U ?s in the margins and ALWAYS needed to explain what i meant) so that I get a sense of what might work for me, at some point in the distant future.

You're just big resources for me.
And I definitely think you have the right attitude. Gotta find the love in all this, so it doesn't surprise me that you're embracing the Pilates, working on staying injury-free, and setting yourself free. Best of all, you're open to the fickleness, which really means that you're all about the pleasure of it all. You hedonist you!
Lisa: Ah, one of my mantras, the 10% rule. Now, if only I was better at math...

I have to tell you, DOOD is going to use the RW plan while he's in D.C. next month--he thinks it's a great way to keep a strong base. I'm with the idea of the plan and would like to get there, all the way up until it suggests that transition to a marathon. I'm not sure I could do it that quickly. But I really like the idea of being able to pick up on a race with short notice, and I look forward to hearing how it works for you after you have a chance to work with it. I loved your description of your flexibility in your non-corporate life. Envy your ability to run in the rain, but loved the attitude.
Thanks for the link to Skin Deep; I'd had my eyes opened to some of the practices of Neutrogena a while back, so I'm happy to have this site to check things out. And your weekend sounded wonderful. Not just the biking, but the whole getting the household ready for summer aspect. Is your garden planted?
Dave: Pudge plurging. Hah! A combo between purging and splurging??? If I didn't know better, I'd say you're undecided on which approach to take.
Mike: I owe you an iPod list...I'll put it in another post. I see we have some overlap. Very cool. Oh, and I saw Midnight Oil and Eminem in performances, back when I was younger and cooler. You've been having some great WOs, sorry that the swim seemed like such a stonker.
Connie: I can imagine you and your grandkids looking all fashionable in the lime green. WISH lime green, it's the fad that will sweep the nation. (Much easier than Kermit's green.) About the "some things are better done alone," without one's partner. Care to elaborate all the dirty details?

Congrats on your 5 mile PR in the wind; those kinds of walking conditions would terrify me. And your plan sounds great--I'm a big fan of the bike for XT.
Vic: Don't you just love how my dietary goals involve more protein and fat?

Just note I said good fat...as I'm getting plenty of the other kind. So, how did the estimates for the kitchen remodel go? Are you going to get a chef's dream kitchen, all the better for your fueling needs?
And good to see you squeeze your running in between the important things, like the Monaco Grand Prix, Indy 500, and the Coca Cola 600. Gotta have priorities. I'll be watching the Penguins tonight, and doing crunches in between plays. Not because I like the Penguins, mind you, but it's all anybody's talking about here. I just have to remain in the loop you know.
Cindy: Wow, I had no idea of the WW points for things. It seems like you don't get a lot of points based on that--I'd be starving! You're right that you seem to consume a lot of your point early in the day, so I can see how dinner is a problem. I wish I had any brilliant advice, but you seem to understand what's going on. And what you're eating seems good--love my dairy products and fruit. The only think I might suggest is continue trying to get your veggies in. I assume you don't like salad, or you could mix in your proteins with a salad. Celery and peanut butter? Carrot sticks and hummus?
Hmmm....apparently my solution to everything is to add more protein and fat (and fiber). Btw, that seems like a lot of miles to add for so few points! I admire you for getting those miles in!!

And your WO plans sounds solid--I need to check out Jillian's DVDs, as she cracks me up on BL. (And yes, I'm driven by personality when it comes to my DVD instructors.)
I'm sure with such solid goals you can PR your 5K. And I love your other goals, too; you're a great mom!
Beth: Did you say cake? And chocolate chips. Sounds delish, so I'm glad I stayed away from you this weekend. And BIT thumbs up for staying away from the cake, cookies, and chips. Huge victory! And I really know what you mean by the effort expended doesn't always meet the weight lost. It's frustrating. Does it help if I read your post and say,

Beth lost 2 pounds and ate really healthily?
Oh, and thanks for the wagon tip. I absolutely adore the turn of phrase, "well-balanced sports diet."
As for me: There was no party for me this weekend, just a lot of things that needed to be done. And maybe a little Debra and DOOD time, because there's really not going to be any of that next weekend or during June. The weekend went something like this:
WO, stretch, shower, pack, pack, pack. Get frustrated because it's a holiday weekend, so plan a picnic from leftovers in the fridge. Good news, because that means minimal junk food. Bike to park, realize you easily made the same hill you weren't able to bike up without stopping just this past fall.

Celebrate by eating lunch, then visit Phipps Conservatory for the Chocolate exhibit (plants, not food). Bike back, and then pack, pack, pack. Watch the first Indy Jones movie on DVD, watch DOOD eat his key lime pie, and then hit the sack.
Wake up, more WO and packing. Go shopping and do misc. errands, then make spaghetti sauce and pack while it simmers. Convince DOOD to see new Indy Jones movie. Laugh a little, then go home, watch DOOD eat his key lime pie, and read some of library books on running and nutrition. Go to sleep, fitfully.
Wake up and WO again. Attempt the first run to try to reset pace--sweat and swear a lot--then go back home. What to do? You guessed it, pack some more. Take another bike ride before coming home and starting dinner. Do some DISing while it bakes and DOOD eats a pre-dinner slice of key lime pie.
Yeah, it's an exciting life I live. Notice the theme of packing in there?
My tip for the day? If you live in a dessert-loving household, as I do, try to occasionally pick desserts that you don't really like. You might get kind of cranky when people are eating desserts and you aren't (I'm looking at you, DOOD!

), but there's very little temptation involved. Plus you don't feel guilty for saying, "If you want key lime pie you can either make it or buy it."
