Becoming Lean, Mean, Endurace Event Machines in 2008

Jeanne: I have been nursing an 'iffy' back for a week.....I know what you mean. I hate that twinge.....maybe next time skip the pants!!:rotfl: Always a dangerous move.....getting dressed! I have my kids trained to pick up all the things I drop.....it's now like an automatic response for them :confused3 My back is always giving me h_ll......if you know what I mean.

Nancy misses me at work today!:lmao: I just got off the phone with her to hear all the updates at work......:rotfl: I don't like being left out of the loop!

I am down 8.5 pounds from Jan 1st! I am hoping that the other .5 pounds comes off overnight! Than I can say I lost 9 pounds in Jan!!!:goodvibes Good for the ego!

I am sticking to my eating plan really well. I did 3 miles on the treadmill last night at 10PM, and really wanted to eat after that but I didn't! Willpower.....can't beat it! ((((don't always have it, but it's nice when I do!))))

Hope everyone else is doing well today.....Jeanne take care of that back, and don't let it get worse!

Beth

Thanks for everyone's concern.....it seems to be getting better. I want to be able to start kicking butt tomorrow!

Beth: so what do we have to do to get you to do a Disney race? If you join us in January then you can pick up your team prize personally. Oops, strike that comment, wrong team! Everyone knows Ohana will win! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Seriously, congrats on the weight loss....8.5 pounds is really amazing! Are you doing Allentown this year?

Kate: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and your DH with the full! But I am curious--why would they choose your sister & cousins over Disney? (Wow, their cousins must be much cooler than mine were.)

I have to wonder if they are actually mine sometimes!! :rotfl2:

They do love Disney as much as I do but we go every year...we own DVC so they know if Mommy and Daddy go alone then that we will take them another time....

it does look like we will both being the full next year!!!

Kate, I hope the kiddos follow through with that! WDW without children is almost as fun as....uhm,...let's see....well, it will be way easier! :rotfl: Congratulations on the alone time AND getting to do the marathon in a Hakuna Matata way. :lmao: (That would make you a real winner, if you did it Hakuna Matata!!)

Hi Everyone!

Just keepin' up with the thread. I'm scheduled for 50 minutes on the TM tonight. I plan to not go as fast as usual. I'm almost back to normal, but my tummy's still sore.

Connie -- Have you been taking "instigator panda pills"?! In the version of the Lion King we own, Hakuna Matata involves lying in a mud trough lazing the day away...please get going on that right away...:simba:

Kate -- dh and I did the Half this year w/out ds in tow, and it was very liberating. We had things to do at specific times for the race, Pop meet, etc., but we could take our time, venture out when and where we wanted, not worry about going to any particular park...it was great and I highly recommend it for a race weekend. :wizard:

Jeanne -- So glad to hear your feeling better. You are our fearless Capitan!;)

Beth -- Congrats on the fabulous weight loss! Maybe I should start leaving my pants off as well...

Debra -- I'll keep churning with the good thoughts. Keep the medicine going, it does help!:goodvibes

Tomorrow is a new month! DH and I decided to get an early start on Lent and give up fast food starting tomorrow. I am also giving up candy. This should be interesting...:scared1:

Anyone else have anything fun to give up (that is, if you celebrate Lent -- not meant to offend anyone!)

Maria

Ahem, Maria, I can only assume that you fell asleep during the movie and missed the part where Simba, Timon and the darn pig reclaimed the jungle, Simba was name King, and everyone else in the jungle flourished! We will be KING!!! :lmao:

xxxooo, Instigator Panda, trainee!

Jeanne: It would be difficult for me to do a Disney race, since when Nancy is off on a 'vacation' (doing 26.2 miles is not a real vacation!) I have to work! We don't take off at the same time except when we go to our national conference every couple of years. Nancy and I would have a hard time arranging time off of work before and after the weekend event. ToT was the one I envied, since it was a little different being at night!

Yes, I am doing Lehigh Valley this year. Seems to be the one I return to each year!

Beth

...Simba, Timon and the darn pig reclaimed the jungle, Simba was name King, and everyone else in the jungle flourished!

Yeah, but I still don't understand how Simba left to return to the Pride Lands while it was still dark and Rafiki tells the others in the morning where Simba has gone; notwithstanding this, the short legged warthog and the meerkat arrive at the same time as the full grown, running through the night lion. I don't think Simba would have beaten the sweepers.

Now, Bill, no sense in trying to confuse people just because you are an attorny! I think you should just continue getting in touch with your inner pixie, in the mean time, we have winning to do!

xxxxoooo Connie

Bill ... you should just continue getting in touch with your inner pixie ...

Hey, there's a song in my heart and look ... I can fly, I can fly, I can fly. Watch out below for my droppings.

Hey, do my frequent flyer miles count as part of the challenge if I walk up and down the aisles while enroute?

I don't have the reason why, but when I stepped on the scale today I was down another pound! I did weigh in after my work out, but I am still counting it!!! Total for January is .....((((drum roll please...)))) 9.5 POUNDS!!!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I am happy!:lovestruc

Beth

Goodness Gracious Beth, you will blow away in a good Texas Prairie wind! Congratulations! Isn't wonderful when it works!! Good job!

Jeanne are you butt kickin' yet?? Don't throw your back out! Your team needs you!

Bill, how's that clean diet coming?? Do you feel any different?

Deekaypee, Gosh I hope you are feeling better! Nasty stuff that flu!

I didn't have birthday cake. I had cheddar bay biscuits with my Shrimp boil. I am thinking that at least the biscuits had nutrition....Not really my best decision though. I had white bicuits!

Steffwalks: I think you did well. I would like to think the biscuit was a better choice than birthday cake! :goodvibes

I wish I could blow away with the wind, but alas.....I will NEVER be small enough! I feel good though, January went well for the weight loss.....I guess I 'bulked' up my metabolism with my 'marathon' eating! I do miss my carbs, but I feel alot better without them! :goodvibes

My goal for Febuary is 7 pounds. I would then be into new numbers, and Feb is a short month. I like the 'smaller' goals since I still have 17 pounds to lose!

Beth

Hey Beth - Congrats on your weight loss!!

I will jump in on the 7 pound goal for February with you!!! That is a great idea!!

Beth: I just wanted to reiterate that you're doing FANTASTIC with your weight loss! :thumbsup2 9.5 pounds rocks! I love that you're making monthly goals, too. You and Kate inspire me!

Jeanne: Are you feeling better?

Kate: DVC, huh? Will you adopt me?

Maria: Take it easy with the tummy. Nothing's worse than feeling sore in the core! I'm in awe that you're starting Lent early. DH (and me by association) are making our Fat Tuesday paczki-sampling plans! Diet or no diet--or should I say diet & no willpower!

Connie: Ah, the sweet delusions of the Hakuna Matata team. No worries from them! I do have to ask, though, did the biscuits/shrimp taste like chicken?

Bill: I'll also ask about the eating clean, and hope you're doing well on all accounts. Remember, you're one of our head Lean Meaners! :worship:

As for me: Today was a rough eating day. I took the car to our new mechanics, a Firestone next to a mall. The job should have only take a couple of hours, tops, but one thing let to another...and 7+ hours later I was still in the mall. (Long, expensive story.)

Malls & me--not a good combination for extended periods of time. I ate Subway for lunch (veggie delite, because vegetarians are delightful), apple slices & water. Not exciting, but could be worse. But as the hours rolled on and on, there was a Starbucks coffee & a chocolate croissant and a SoyJoy bar to tide me over. To my credit, I refused to eat lunch AND dinner there, hence the SoyGen bar. I also managed to walk 4+ miles in the mall, which was on top of my 2 hour/9 mile workout before I took the car in. (The sad thing is, I had enough time to walk much more than that, but my workload wouldn't permit it & my laptop was too heavy.)

On the bright side, I logged slightly over 13 miles & several hours for Team Ohana & worked off the guilt of the chocolate croissant. Plus, I was too tired to get persnickety with the mechanics.

I had to jump on here for inspiration and it is here.

Beth, you did a fantastic job for January!

Congrats **Beth** and everyone on your loses and successes.

Things haven't yet been "clean.". Closer to a murky, but a little better than the prior "Ole Black Water.". I've managed to drop a couple pounds, but nothing worth mentioning in the grand scheme.

I am determined to get serious so I am also going to set a monthly goal. I'm going to shoot for 10 this month (but try for more). I'll try to stay committed this time, especially seeing that I did start the thread and all.

Eat clean and be strong everyone.

Bill, Happy birthday, when is your birthday, anyway??

Eating clean takes practice and it sounds like you are off to a good start. But you are mistaken about a couple of pounds are not worth mentioning!!!! Losing any pounds is worth mentioning! A pound is approcimately 3500 calories, it takes work and discipline to get rid of that!

Congratulations!

Good morning Lean Team. Best of luck this weekend.

**Connie** My b-day was last weekend. Thus, I now get to move up an age group in those events that use 5 year groupings, although I'm not sure if its really "moving" when I've yet to compete in an event.

Thanks for the kind words as to the weight lose, but keep in mind that at my current size, I can "drop" a couple of pounds on the scale by skipping a couple of liters of water one day. As you point out, the key is to lose/burn the fat.
