Mike: Wow, Lake Michigan?? Beautiful, as is Racine, but brrrrr. But I'm sure you're going to do fine; you'll have lots of time to train & I know you're paying attention to your fueling and recovery needs. Plus, you have us here to cheer you on! Good job being flexible with the training, btw; that's something I need to really work on.
Lily: I, too, have a special weakness for oatmeal raisin cookies; I've been known to say I'm in search of the perfect one. But I think you are right to focus on what you're doing right in eating & logging onto SP!!

That's the kind of long-term lifestyle decisions we're making, ones that mean eating healthily with the occasional treat.
Fleet Feet sounds like a great place; we have one around here somewhere, and I'll try to talk DOOD into a little reconnaissance. Can't visit too many running stores, I say!
Lisa: DROOL cracks me up almost as much as DOOD does; I really do call DH, and others, dude. Yes, I have embraced my inner 13yo! I'm sorry your day was trying with regard to the no-lunch, coffee-instead-of-water situation. I'm sure you enjoyed time with DH. Do you think you'll get one soon, maybe after a couple more talky test drives? Hopefully they'll be on sale because it's spring, which I'm certain you'll get to experience sometime.
The Stonyfield yogurt sounds tasty with all that organic goodness. The Seven Stars contains only milk & active cultures. I've been adding fresh fruit, nuts, granola. (I need to make my own granola, though.) Oddly enough, they were sold out of that brand this week--wow, it's popular here--so I bought two other brands to try: Butterworks Farms (VT) & Hawthorne Valley Farm (NY). Neither brand adds thickeners. Both are small farms, like Seven Stars. I like them both, especially the Butterworks.
Dave: Woo hoo for the 8.2 pounds!

What's this pudgy you're throwing around so lightly--it's got to be just the term, because it can't be the weight you don't have!

And I vote for PPOP because POOP probably would be misunderstood a lot.
Beth: I just love the fact that the owner of your gym noticed your weight loss. I don't know why, but that he or she noticed just seems to mean something extra special...maybe it's because of the context in which you see the owner. And 16 pounds is impressive--and not the end by any means. Like you said, we all have to be patient & keep doing the healthy things we do.
Liz: Don't you just love it when the jeans fit better. They're my litmus test, because I do so enjoy wearing jeans. How good of you to talk DH through stretching, as it's so important; that's one thing I need to add more of in my routine. (ADD week coming?) How do you enjoy your personal trainer--I've never had one and sometimes think I should invest. (I don't like people touching me, though. I know...weird, just ask my yoga instructor.

)
Shan: Oh, BIG WISH HUG!!

On the bright side, you got the flu during taper and I'm pretty sure you'll be over it by the 1/2. Maybe all this bed rest will be good for event. I'll keep my fingers crossed, anyway.
Sleep, keep drinking fluids, and know you've trained well for the event.
As for me: I got up this morning & went to the gym. I had to wait for about 5 minutes for a TM, but I got one. And while I thought about sitting on it & charging someone a fee if they wanted to use it right away--hey, I'm broke--I decided that it was in my better interest to do my run. It wasn't quite the magical run of Monday, but it was pretty good. Circuit training was meh, but I did it.
And here are my new babies:
I will hug them, and love them, and name them George & Georgina.
We went to
Elite Runners & Walkers, and I had a very good fitting experience. I was still running on the shoes that had given me all the blisters & black toenails during the Goofy, although I haven't experience the same degree of problems since then, probably because of the low mileage I'm been logging.
When I talked with the salesperson, his immediate reaction was that my shoes were too small, which would explain the black toenails. I said, "Yeah, I know that's what causes it." Then he examined my shoes and admitted I seemed to be wearing the right size. I didn't say it, but I thought, "Yeah, I know." We spent some time talking about my blisters, my running history (or lack thereof) and my plans. And then my fitting became this puzzle for him to figure out.
My new NB shoes, like my old ones, are both size 8, btw, and the difference in fit is small but noticeable. They're narrower in the heel than my last pair, but with the wide toe box my tootsies appreciate. These babies feel pretty darn good, even though I'll only really know how they work after I take them out for a test drive. Still, I have high hopes!
Oh, and one last thing: That green you see? It's lime green, which I take as a sign. After all, I didn't choose the pair based on their color but based on their fit. No, these shoes chose ME.
