My dh has nearly 20 years experience in the hvac/r field. He has owned his own business, has a union jouneyman card, and is currently the lead tech for a national company making very good money. He is clearly their go-to guy and the one who other techs call when they're not sure of a problem. He also handles the service account in a small business arrangement with several local businesses. He is in his mid 40's and we are close to having all the kids gone. I don't want him doing so much constant physical work forever.
Does anybody know what is involved in transferring your skills into a consulting position or business? This pays better then a position as technical support for a company.
I know sometimes he'll still be going up the ladders but not as often and less climbing into small spaces.
