Because there NEEDS to be a poll: Is the Magic gone?

Is the Magic gone?

  • The magic is alive and well!

  • Maybe it's gone... Or maybe it's just taking a nap.

  • The magic has just changed to a new kind of magic.

  • The magic is gone! Sob.

  • Define... "magic".

  • Other (because there's always an "other").

The magic is alive and well. Most people just think its dead because they can't handle change. I don't know how they can get through life

I hated it when Johnny Depp changed from a Pirate to an Indian but I'm getting through life.

That's pretty rude.

I'm leery about aspects of this but I love change if it's done well. I was even excited about Starbucks on Main Street. ;)

So I'm getting through life just fine. :thumbsup2

I think the magic's there if you want it to be. In my opinion, some people get too hung up on the fact that there's big changes, and they're automatically convinced that it's going to ruin it. We've went on two trips with MBs, and our trip was just as magical as they have been in the past. The magic is how you make it.

I voted other because I believe that the magic is what you make of it. If you're bound and determined to be upset about changes because "it's not like it used to be," then the magic is gone. If you can go with the flow and just experience "the World" for what it is then the magic lives.

That's sort of hard to do that from a long wait in the guest services line (instead of out enjoying the parks).

I don't think people are bound and determined to be upset, but it doesn't take a PhD to know that things have changed and they are going to change the magic, and not always in a good way. I'm willing to bet most of us who feel the magic has faded really wish it didn't.
It doesn't need to be like it used to be, but it needs to be better than it is. :thumbsup2

I voted "The Magic is gone" because that most closely matches how I feel. I don't think it's 100% gone, so maybe I should have said it was "napping". Or maybe it's just "pining for the fjords". FP+ (and yes, I have used it) is the final nail in the coffin of my diminished enjoyment of my WDW vacations. Between the skyrocketing costs of resorts, food and park passes Disney is systematically pricing me out of a WDW vacation while making it harder and harder for me to ride the attractions I'm paying more for.

Frankly, I wouldn't even consider going to WDW this December if we didn't own DVC, had my two favorite resorts booked (AKV Concierge and BWV Boardwalk View) and were able to get a PAP for a half-decent price. We usually go to WDW for Spring Break and we went on a 7-night Norwegian Cruise Lines cruise from 4/12-4/20 instead. We had a blast! When all was said and done we paid about $2300 for 7 days of an ocean view cabin, 3 meals a day, nightly entertainment and fun port excursions. Since there are no discounts available the week before Easter at WDW $2200 would have covered Easter Season rack rate at a moderate resort. Entertainment and meals would be extra. In the spirit of fairness, I will say that a room at POR would have been twice as big as our cabin :rotfl:.

In my opinion, the "magic" gets better every visit as we discover new things, gain more experience, and figure out what we like and what we don't. It is by going so frequently that we are able to better the next trip, and for us, that makes each trip even better.

A bit more objectively, while MM+ might be a bit of a mixed bag now, there are so many things that have improved over the years: food, attractions (I'd argue we have one of the best groups of attractions in WDW's history now), coffee, and more. Now, it seems like it will be sooner rather than later that MM+ will turn into a bit more of a positive, particularly with this new fourth FP+.

Often, I think long-term Disney fans confuse a dearth of magic with nostalgia. Having visited the parks for many years, I can relate but I wouldn't argue WDW is any less "magical" now than before/

Magic is still alive with us!!! It has definitely changed with our kids getting older but we still start planning the next trip on the way home from each trip.
