Please consider signing this petition to ask WDW to bring this delicious snack back!

Up until late 2004, Beaver Tails were sold from a little kiosk called Trapper Bob's in the Canada pavillion at Epcot. They were a mouth-wateringly yummy pastry stretched into the shape of a beaver's tail, fried and served piping hot. The tail was then topped with butter and any choice of cinnamon sugar, maple butter, apple cinnamon or chocolate hazelnut.

According to an update at MousePlanet, a former CM from the Canadian pavillion has started an online petition drive to bring the tails back. Let's "git 'er done!"

Only if they would bring 'em back the right way -- fix them right there themselves -- fresh. Otherwise Krsipie Kreme is better. ;)

The company who makes beavertails went out of business. I don't think this is going to help.

Then who is making them down at the Old Port of Montreal, La Ronde (Montreal's Six Flags) and on Sparks street in Ottawa?

IIRC, the company that initially made them was bought by MooZoo, which I think in turn is owned by PepsiCo (but I could be waaay off base there). So I think that they could be brought back to the Canadian pavillion... BUT I don't think that Nestle/Coke would approve, so that's the biggest stumbling block to getting BeaverTails back in Epcot. *sniffle*

That being said, I'll totally sign the petition!! :goodvibes:

BeaverTails is not out of business. I think Disney (or whom ever was operating Trapper Bob's) just does not have an active franchise with them at this time. That's why the petition is directed at Disney.

I wasn't able to find out any info online about PepsiCo purchasing BeaverTails or moozoo. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but I just couldn't find out anything about it. Neither BeaverTails nor moozoo appear in the online list of PepsiCo brands or products, in the US or international. Nor did a search of BeaverTails, moozoo or Pino Di Ioia on the PepsiCo website produce any results.

But I did find out that the CEO of BeaverTails and moozoo is actively seeking franchisees:
BEAVERTAILS are a unique, wholesome pastry cooked fresh at leisure sites. We offer low entry investment, interesting locations and excellent strategic support. We are interested in development opportunities at amusement parks, sports venues, tourist destinations and ski hills across North America. Contact: Mr. Pino Di Ioia, Franchise Sales/Support. E-Mail: pino@moozoo.com

In the meantime, if you want to try and make your own fried beaver tails, here's a recipe...

From the McGill University Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies:
Pino Di Ioia. (2005) Mr. Di Ioia (McGill MBA 93) was 11 when he started his first venture, selling soft drinks and salvaged golf balls at a neighbourhood course. His passion for entrepreneurship eventually led him to become the first franchisee for BeaverTails Pastry. He is now CEO for BeaverTails Canada Inc., franchiser of 84 shops mostly located in Canada. Along with his wife and twin brother he has also launched moozoo yogurt and chocolate bar, which is wholesaling and opening franchise shops across Canada and into parts of the US.
