well.... It seems some hawks got used to the shows schedule and started "intercepting" them mid flight to the horror of small children and adults in the audience. So they moved the doves to the Animal Kingdom(the few that were still alive.) That is the story I was told.mousemom218 said:Why did they stop using the doves at the end?I can take or leave the show, but honestly we all got goosebumps when the birds would fly out!

I started to answer this yesterday, but then I couldn't remember where I had read about it, and I didn't want to start an urban myth if it wasn't true. While I was at the library today, I looked again at the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (which I had borrowed and returned after renewing it as many times as possiblejava said:well.... So, it's kind of a bad news/good news story. We don't get to see the doves in the finale anymore, but the doves don't get picked off by the hawks - (which would have been a traumatizing sight to me! Glad I never witnessed it.)Is Dove on the Menu Tonight?
The end of the Beauty and the Beast show used to feature the dramatic release of an entire flock of white doves. The trained birds would fly out over the audience, circle the theater for a moment, then head back to their coop behind the Magic Kingdom. After a while, indigenous hawks got wise to this ritual and began hanging around the theater waiting to snag a snack as each performance show came to a close. Eventually, the stage staff took pity on the poor doves and removed the birds from the menu...., er, the finale of the show.
