Beat the ATM Fee at Disney

Morning everyone,

Just wanted to give you all a tip i didnt see here yet. There is another thread regarding how to mix your money when traveling to disney, which I agree a room charge and some cash (for smaller vendors etc) is good, but if you havn't noticed it is almost $3.00 to use the atms in the hotels and parks. What i found works wonderfully is to "buy" disney dollars at guest relations or at the front desk of your hotel (you can purchase up to $50.00 at a time). This eliminates the ATM fee and if your down to credit cards only, the disney dollars are a purchase not a cash advance so you pay no fee, lower interest (and if you've got a disney visa you earn more disney rewards).

Maybe im nutty but i think its a good thing

I have ordered disney dollars from ticket services and I got Mickey on the one's and Goofy on the five's.. I'm sure they have other characters.. I plan on making it to a disney store in the next couple of weeks to get more..

The man told me Chicken Little's face is on them right now?? It would be so neat if Tink was on them. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my post.

Slightly OT, but we were going to bring mostly
Traveler's Cheques - do the front desks of each
resort cash them for guests?
If not, how do we get them cashed?
(Although it's not much of an issue, as we will be
taking advantage of the room charging & paying
the balance frequently with our cheques).

The front desk will cash traveler's checks for you.

We have on many occasions used a travelers check to pay for our breakfast at the resort thereby receiving cash back to be put in our pockets as we head out for the day. Just another alternative.

I didn't think of that - but I will definately do that in November when we go.

I also use Disney dollars as "savings" for the vacation. It's just too easy for me to spend the cash I may put in a jar or envelope for vacation spending so everytime we have $20 or $30 to put aside we buy Disney dollars from our local store.

It works great because when I get my shopping jones it isn't usually for Disney merchandise !
