Beast. The awesome PTR of awesomeness June 2012 last update: Universal Resort

Love the day 5 & 6 photos. Love the new hairstyles. Will your dd be able to wear the cute pony-o's she made? I wish I could go short. I always chicken out. I was showing my dd your photos today and she wants to do the countdown too! I can't wait to see you TR on Universal. I figure it will be a few years before we head there.

Your Universal plans look great! It's almost here! You will love RPR...the pool area there was so pretty!

Yeah, I was hoping no one would catch that... No, Ches is not going to be able to wear the pony-o's we made. We tried -- quite desparately -- for a month to get her hair to stay in a ponytail. She wore it up every day for the last month or so of school. And every day she'd come home with it all falling out and looking crazy. She was irritated, I was frustrated and we finally just decided that her hair is just not meant to be in a ponytail. She looks so cute with short hair, so we're just going to go short. She's also at that age where she's not quite ready to spend a lot of time messing with her hair, so short is a nice way to go.

I can't wait for Universal. Disney is something I know and understand. Universal is something I can't wait to experience for the first time. And Despicable Me just started a soft open! So excited!

Well you could always use the pony-o's on your luggage to easily find them.

WOW! The week is finally here :cool1: Hope you guys have a great and safe trip.

Only 446 more days for me :sad2:

Good idea. I actually thought I'd do a blog giveaway or something... or if anyone in this thread wants them and can wait for them until we get back in July, you're welcome to them. Just let me know.

I'll be in Florida THIS WEEK. So crazy. Sorry you have so long to wait, but you've got another trip to Branson to look forward to.

While I'm thinking about it, I'm going social media silent starting Thursday... except for a very select group of Facebook friends who will be able to see my trip postings. I think I have two people reading along who are also my Facebook friends, and I've put you on the Disney list. If anyone else wants to see my updates, just add me on Facebook, and I'll add you to the list. I'll just know if I get any requests in the next day or two to put you on the list. It's mostly my family and Disney friends because Dan isn't thrilled about local people knowing our house is going to be empty for 2 weeks. I don't think anyone would ever dream of robbing us, but I can sort of see his point... especially when you add in all the kids' Facebook friends. This is our compromise: I can post, but only to a really limited group, and no tagging the kids. Hopefully it will satisfy my need to share our trip, and still keep things on the down low.

Here's today's photo:

Tater turns 18 tomorrow. Eight. Teen. How did this happen?!?

Dan works late tomorrow night and was off early tonight, so we let Tater open his gift and have his birthday "cake" tonight. His cake was actually apple cobbler from Mrs. Smith. I don't have a clue how to make apple cobbler and since he didn't request it until 4 pm today, I didn't have time to figure it out. Frozen worked. Not as good as my crisp according to the kids, but since he really didn't want to have any celebration at all it was fine.

Happy birthday Tater! I sent you a FB request. It will be fun to follow along.
My dd just asked if you posted your daily photo. She is 7. We are going to start our countdown this Saturday. We just got our documents this weekend.

I hope I made it on your Facebook list! I understand about not wanting to let people you know are gone. I am not allowed to post on there either when we are gone for the same reason.

I would be interested in purchasing some or all of your pony tail holders ... I know C would go nuts for the Disney Peace Sign one ... Our trip isn't until Sept so no rush!

I really hope I made it on your list of peeps that can follow along on FB while you are gone. I need to figure out how to restrict access to FB to a select few during our trip in September. Never thought about setting up a seperate group for that purpose. Makes perfect sense. I don't like everybody knowing our every move especially while we are away from home for several days.

.. Signs you know you have followed Kim for too long on FB/Dis .. you find yourself dreaming about her and her family. True story .. I woke up about 4:30 this morning from a dream where I was shopping at Maurice's with Kathy .. you were there with your kids .. they each had a bag of berries with them and we were all trying to get as many clothes as possible bought for the trip but we still had to figure out how to pack the berries in the suitcases too .. very bizarre. :rotfl:

Your Universal Plans sound great!!:thumbsup2 I must tell you again how much I'm loving your countdown pictures! Mind if I steal the idea? I'd love to do it as we get closer!:goodvibes

You're so close now!!:yay: I hope you have a great trip!! I sent you a FB request. I'd love to follow along.:)

You were already on my list, of course! I'm just not a paranoid person and Dan is. It doesn't seem worth fighting him, and frankly, many of my friends don't want to see eleventy jillion pictures from Disney. But you guys...

Happy Birthday Tater....

He says thank you. Very sullenly. He's entered the sullen stage. Gonna be so fun to have at Disney.

I'll set the pony-o's aside for you and shoot photos so you can pick what you want.

It is super easy to make a list on Facebook. Just go to friends, and create list. Then add the people who you want to see your information. You have to be careful when you post that you pull down the little arrow in the right corner of the posting box to make sure you change it from friends to whatever you've named your list. That means that only those people can see your update. If a friend who can see it comments, others can see it (it will depend on that friend's settings) but at that point, I'm just not going to worry about it. That's beyond my control.

Oh, of course, use the countdown photo idea! I'll try to share tomorrow night the layout in progress I have using them. Every night after I add the text to the photo, I immediately plop it into a layout I have in progress. So when we leave, I'll still have one spot left to fill (cuz we're doing that last photo in Kansas City) but I can share the biggest part of it tomorrow!

Holy cow! Tomorrow!

Countdown Day Three

three by miss kim 09, on Flickr

I tested all day today -- 3 kids in 7 hours -- and I'm exhausted. We'd planned to have cereal for dinner. It just didn't sound good. So I ran to Wendy's and that was dinner. Burgers x3, a salad, and a baked sweet potato.

Tomorrow it's back to work to write reports. It's a long day sitting in my room just writing reports. I've got 3 to write as well as IEP paperwork to get ready. On Thursday I have meetings at 8 and 10 am, both of which will probably take at least 2 hours each. Finish up paperwork and I'm off for the summer. It's so close now and I'm so scattered. Probably should not have worked this week. My mind is everywhere at once.

Kiah woke up with throat drainage and nasal congestion. Her ears always bother her on the flights, so I'm worried about what this is going to mean for the flight. Got her on some allergy meds, plus flonase. I hope it helps!

Oh, and JayhawkFans, that is one crazy dream. I don't shop in Maurices. And we're just going to buy berries when we get there. :rotfl2:

*chants* THREE MORE DAYS!!! THREE MORE DAYS!!! THREE MORE DAYS!!!

:cool1::banana::yay::dance3::cheer2::wizard:princess::hippie::goodvibes:cloud9:

Hope Tater had a wonderful birthday.

Too bad for me that I'm not on FB so I can't stalk you your whole trip. But I do see your Dh's point on why it's not the smartest to broadcast to everyone that you are going out of town.

WOW you sure do have a LOT going on! Finishing out the week with a bang I see! Hope all the planning goes well.

FX that Kiah's throat/nose clear up and she doesn't have any issues on the plane.

Sunshine

Oh, I don't miss those days of testing and IEPs. For me that was the best part of moving to a private school and into general ed.

I'm headed to Tuscaloosa for freshman orientation tomorrow with my daughter. So, in case I'm not on here before you leave,---Hope you have a wonderful, safe trip! :)

Still busy and incredibly ADD at the moment. Kiah and Ches are at the pool, so I'm going to say Kiah's feeling better. She's taking Sudafed, Claritin and I bought her some nasal spray this morning. I think a lot of it is just getting her out and doing stuff.

I don't mind reports... it's just three in one day that makes me a little crazy. I'm done with what I can do. I just need everyone else to do their part.

I missed Tater's orientation because it was while I was still teaching. Hope you have fun!

One more day! Have a great trip! :cool1:

So stinking close!!

Countdown Day Two Photo

two by miss kim 09, on Flickr

The photo didn't come out as well in reality as it was in my mind. I wanted the girls to hold up their ipods with the countdown apps showing. Not the greatest.

And here's the almost complete layout:

Our final photo will be taken tomorrow after we check into our airport hotel. Hoping to leave here no later than 3 pm and be settled in no later than 8. Called today to check how long we could leave the 'Nox parked and schedule our shuttle, which I didn't need to do.

I have meetings to review eval results tomorrow at 8 am and 10 am. Our 24 hour check in for Southwest is at 7:35 am. I purchased EBCI, but I'm not planning on turning on my laptop at home tomorrow, so my plan is to print out our boarding passes at work before that first meeting. The 10 am meeting is going to be a little involved. I'm shooting to be done by noon. After both meetings I have to process paperwork, so I'm hoping to be walking out the door by no later than 1 pm. Drive home, fill up the 'Nox, load the 'Nox, rearrange vehicles to not leave a gaping hole in our drive. Dan's hoping to be home no later then 3 pm (he is getting his evening customers from tomorrow's route today), he'll need to change and then we'll be on our way. We'll have to stop somewhere for dinner. We're taking turnpike the whole way (toll road with limited food options... mostly McD's) so I predict some grouching and grumbling about where we'll stop for dinner.

Oh, and I just have to brag -- Tater was accepted into the honors program at his university today. When he had orientation, his advisor encouraged him to apply. He didn't qualify based on GPA because he did the bare minimum in high school but his ACT score was really high and that qualified him. He has to take a certain number of honors courses but they are smaller class size and he'll get to know the other people in the program really well. He's excited, and there's nothing that makes me more proud than seeing my boy pour over the course catalog trying to plan his college career.

Time to fold some laundry. I think dinner is going to be leftovers and whatever else we have in the house. :confused3

Congrats to Tater on being accepted into the honors program. That's wonderful. What a great send off to your trip!

So excited for you and your family that your wait is just about over. Looking forward to your live updates! Hope you have a wonderful vacation.

So excited for you and your family! Tomorrow is the day!!! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
