Beast isn't there at dinner at BOG?

I swear that I read that the Beast is at the castle for dinner only to greet people where you meet him and get a photo taken upon arrival, which is why we are wanting to go for dinner and not lunch. I just called to check on dinner reservations availability and the CM told me that he was only there for the opening week. This isn’t a character meal and he isn’t there. What????

I'm pretty sure he's always there at dinner. I think the photo op is after you've eaten, on your way out. We have dinner ressies, too, because we want to meet the Beast. I'm not really interested in doing BOG if he won't be there.

Beast appears quite often at dinner time at Be Our Guest Restaurant but it's not considered Character Dining in the way the other Character meals are. The CM's won't tell you anything different because they won't guarantee that he'll be there - it's kind of like how everything is always subject to change, ya know?

When we met him at dinner, it was way back when the restaurant first opened and he was in the West Wing. You could go over there anytime during or after your meal. I'm not sure how it is currently though.

He was there 2 weeks ago for dinner. He did a walk through and was introduced in each room and then he was in a side room for pictures. He was quite charming. I asked about Belle - he "said" (by pointing to books) that she was off reading. I was tempted to ask why he was in Beast form since he was transformed to human again by love.

He's not guaranteed to be there, but most of the time he is. If none of his friends can report to work that day, he won't be there.

It's true that Disney does not consider this a character meal. It's more like a regular restaurant with a bonus opportunity to get your picture taken with a character (he does not sign autographs). After dinner you have the option to meet him in his study, which by day is the quick service ordering area.

Thanks peeps. I knew it wasn’t considered a ‘character dining’ place but everything I read about dinner he is there for photos, so I was confused when she said that. That’s why we’ve been trying for dinner; to get that photo with him. Guess I’ll keep trying for dinner after all J

As of last week, the Beast is still there for dinner.

He will walk into each of the dining rooms and wave to "Greet the guests" each hour, but does NOT visit each table. He retreats to The Study (aka. the cashier/menu room for Breakfast/Lunch service) to take pictures after welcoming his guests. You will be instructed that you can take a picture with him after your meal. Once you've finished eating, there will be a line (for us it only took about 5-10 minutes) to meet him if you choose. They will have you head down the entrance/exit hall (with the suits of armor) to leave the restaurant after taking your picture.

He's been there every time (3) we have had dinner. He's in a room where you can get a photo at the end of the meal.

And he's been there every time (5) that we've had dinner :)

About how long is dinner typically at BOG? We have a 4:25 reservation (hooray!) and have a FP+ for Anna & Elsa between 6-7pm. Is it feasible to do this without rushing? We definitely want to get pictures with the Beast, too, before we leave from our dinner, and have a nice relaxed and fun dinner soaking in the atmosphere.

This should be plenty of time. I have found this to be one of the slower restaurants for service but I think the longest we have been there including seeing the Beast is just over an hour and a half and we've been out quicker than that too.

I agree with scoobydooby you should be fine. Sometimes you wait a bit to be seated for dinner but the most we've waited beyond our ADR time was about 15 minutes, and that hasn't happened every time. And we've always been out in under 2 hours. Enjoy!

Perfect, thank you both!

lucky enough to been there 3 times for dinner and every time beast has done a walk through, last time he ran off with the dessert trolly which the kids found funny and had a bit of banter with the servers, always been there for photos after dinner in side room

When we were there last year we had a later reservation (7ish). I knew my 5 year old wouldn't make it all the way through dinner without falling asleep. We explained this to our server and we were able to get our picture done with the Beast before we ate. Just didn't exit after the photo. Good thing too because by the end of dinner I was carrying out a sleeping child.

Just ate their last night. Beast was there to take photos with guest in a room after your meal. He was also in the same spot when I was there last month.
