Bear with me...I just need to do this.....

On a funny note I went to the doctor today and was expressing some worry I had about using a scooter on an upcoming trip due to some of the comments I have read here. He told me he could fix my back and make me feel better knowing it was a true need and not me being lazy. I mentioned something about wishing he could post something on these boards to help folks understand that not all folks using scooters who are larger are just fat and lazy. He then replied that he could operate and fix my back but even he couldn't surgically remove "stupid". Made my day!!!
I keep telling DW that I can't wait to get a hover-round, especially at WDW and DLR. I'll need to add the cow-catcher attachment and really plow the road! :rotfl:

Laugh if you will all you would be comics!!! Can you believe that I have actually had one poster report a post of mine.......to me??? What did they expect me to do??? Ban myself??? Give myself points??? Sheesh.
So put on your mod hat and PM the reporter back... "Thank you for your concern. I will be sure to investigate fully. Unfortunately, because of confidentiality rules, I can't inform you what punishment, if any, is handed out."

:rolleyes1

Why thank-you!!! I will be using that if the situation arises again. How wonderful...wish I had thought of that!!!!:cool1:

I think there is way too much conflict of interest with a response like that. :dance3:

IMO, OP can, at times, get rather argumentative, even just a bit sarcastic and sometimes launch "minor personal attacks" when not posting in her official capacity. :p

I know that "mods" are people too, but sometimes the lines between personal and official posts get blurred. Seems to me that the mods should have a second screen name to use when posting as a real person and not a mod. Or perhaps "Transportation Mod" to use when doing official duties.

Bite your tongue!!! There used to be three of us....I am happy with just me. I have been offered help, but I turn it down. I like things the way they are now. Most posters are good and don't pose problems...well, except for that kaytieeldr person...she's a known rabble-rouser!!!

I beg to differ. I'm outspoken (perfect for this forum) but any tendency toward rabble-rousing has developed only in the last few years... since a DISMeet at Canobie Lake Park. And isn't name-calling against the DIS guidelines? Perhaps that post needs to be reported?

If you feel any post violates guidelines, you know how to report it. Moderators don't give each other consideration; if a post is inappropriate from one person, it's inappropriate from any person.

Second screen name? They're all volunteers. Do you think the typical Moderator has time for a second persona? Plus, seeing "Moderator" under a name when it's not that person's board probably helps keep threads a bit more controlled.

But if you seriously think that's a good idea, contact the Board Administrators with your suggestion.

remember, mods are simply people who don't get paid a thing, as far as I know. These message boards can be wonderful places to visit, but our society has become very cynical and negative thanks to the interent. People feel free to say things they would never say to someones face.

I for one, thank the mods for what they do and if they offend someone once in a while, so be it. I know from personal experience that Goofy4Tink is a great person and would never be offended by anything she says.......

It's only name calling if it isn't spot on!!!! And what is this 'Canobie Lake Park meet' that you speak of??? I have no memory of such a thing!!!!:confused3:rolleyes1

Believe me...I have been spoken to when another mod thinks I've crossed the line!! As I've said before, I get to have opinions too...if someone doesn't agree with them, that's okay. Official duties??? I am ALWAYS on duty, so to speak. There have been many times that I have written something and then deleted it. The 'regular' poster could have gotten away with it, but not me!! So yeah, I still have to be careful about what I post.
Moderators can be just as snarky as the next person. If you, or anyone, ever has an issue with what I have said, please let me know. And if you think that I haven't addressed your concern fully, then go ahead and report the post to admin....I have no issue with that. That's the way things should work. Sometimes, we don't see an issue with what we post, and are genuinely surprised when someone takes issue with it!!!

Sooooo, in order to adhere to the topic of this board......I have to say that I am peeved with all things transportation based!!! It is 'driving' me nutty. All these crazy posts make me feel like booking a flight and flying away...or maybe a cruise. I wonder what the best way to get to port would be...hmmm. Or, oh no....how many free bags can I check with each airline???
So there...now I am topic friendly!!!:thumbsup2
LOL

Has happened to me too!

People here obviously do not realize that on an iPhone app (not sure about android nor iPad) can you not see signature lines and the information under your name like when signed into the computer. I can't tell even who are moderators from the thread list on the phone. New here and even I have figured that out first thing as the first place I started search these boards was on my phone.

Well, that puts things in perspective, mickeyboyfan! Thank you for the information :).
I think it's likely thatat least one of the Moderators' experiences was before the DIS app. But that makes sense for the other one.
