Bear Hugs & Piggy Kisses - Baby's 1st Trip ~ Updated 12/6: Aulani TR Started!!!

Haha! Hilarious about your bargaining for bedtime! It's crazy that we can bargain with them now isn't it? I love that they understand so much more now!
Would you believe the same thing worked AGAIN tonight?! Upset at having to go to bed, but once I reminded her that she had to rest up for Disney this weekend, she laid down without a peep. :lmao: I think I always need to have an upcoming Disney trip to remind her about.

I've been following along silently for a while and I figured I should make my presence known! :wave2:
:welcome: and thank you for de-lurking! :goodvibes

We have an Ohana dinner booked for our trip in November, and we are just two adults. It looks like they gave you all a decent amount of food at breakfast - I wonder if it is the same at dinner. I was wondering how family style would work with only two adults. :confused3
You've come to the right place! We had two dinners at 'Ohana in the pre-Izzy days and you can read about them here http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=36200819&postcount=161 and here http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=37081335&postcount=44. Note that a few menu changes have been made since those meals (and also note that I was recovering from a stomach bug on the first visit). We loved dinner there as a couple! :thumbsup2

Your upcoming trip looks so fun! I can't wait to read all about it! :yay:pixiedust:
Thanks! Your trip is coming up pretty soon too! Hope you have a wonderful time!

I'm quite impressed! Lol that's hilarious!

All right, caught up with everything but the planning update.

I love Sunshine Seasons, and I always think it's pretty empty in there at dinner time. I can only imagine what it must have been like at 9:30. Probably a little unsettling, seeing so few guests around.

I'm glad both of you were able to ride Soarin'. Rider swap and nice CMs to the rescue!

That's a pretty big bowl of raspberries. How nice of Ohana's to bring it out for Izzy.:goodvibes

I read about the Cronuts in another trip report and wanted to try them last time, but didn't get a chance. Yikes on the seagulls! Do you think a Cronut would still be good the next morning for breakfast?

Yes, the seagulls were so scary (although I'm scared of birds anyway)! A castmember at the Canada Pavillion yelled to us "It's the cronuts!". And then when we walked by the cronut stand later that day, I actually ran through because there were so many seagulls still hanging out there.

I think it would still be good the next morning, but personally there is no way I could make one last until the next day!

Would you believe it's worked for FOUR nights straight now?! Maybe try it on Caden for the next 5 months, if needed. :rotfl:

How was your trip?

It was really strange seeing Sunshine Seasons SO empty and quiet! So glad we both got on Soarin', though. I was surprised what a big bowl of raspberries they brought when we just asked for a few more. Izzy dug in, though! :thumbsup2

Wow, I will have to watch out for them! I once had a seagull steal an entire loaf of bread off my picnic table. :rotfl: Couldn't believe it!

Ha, that is why I plan to get two - one to eat and one to stash. And I'll be getting full from all the other treats by then, most likely. And, if not, at least there's a dessert party later! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I asked because I wasn't sure if they had been counting Izzy for the food since she was still pretty little, but this is even more helpful! :goodvibes:goodvibes I was curious since I've never been to a family style restaurant as a couple. We can' wait!

I hope you have a great time on your trip this weekend! :yay:

:rotfl2: at Dug's hair being eaten!

Oh that's so good they let him ride even after scheduled park hours. I probably would have asked the CM as I was exiting the ride if the Rider Swap could still be redeemed, cus I'm neurotic like that.

Haha do you think they were being serious about the dwarves names or just being funny!? Sometimes you never know:upsidedow

The breakfast really does sound nice in that you don't have to get up and get food..we have a breakfast scheduled at Tusker House in January and started thinking about how we were going to do this...I'm sure it will be easier for us because of DM though. But Ohana sounds like a nice option if DM can't ever come with us.

You're leave tomorrow!!! Have an AMAZING time and can't wait to hear all about it:goodvibes

I don't think so, as far as counting Izzy - and they'll bring more of anything you want also. You should have no problem! And thanks! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Yay, someone else finds that funny! :lmao: I wonder if the Photopass photographer does that on purpose just for his own amusement? :confused3

You know, I was so sure he was out of luck at that point, given that it was definitely after park close, that I didn't even think to ask. So glad it worked out.

I think it was one of those things that started off serious, then quickly descended into goofy!

Tusker House is great too! And it's not so bad at buffets if you have another adult - you can just switch off and make sure you get the kiddo food ASAP to keep him happy. But it was a nice change of pace to just sit there for the whole meal at 'Ohana. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I am so excited! :cool1: Going to try to do one more quick pre-trip post, then head to bed...

Just a quick PTR update before I head to bed in anticipation of the early morning flight to MCO. :cool1:

Hoping the weather will be okay. It seems to be consistently low 90's for highs with afternoon thunderstorms each day. As long as it doesn't rain all the time like in June, I guess. However, I found this really funny - note that tomorrow will be "colder" :lmao: :

I forgot to mention that, at the local fair booth with the Minnie that Izzy hugged, they helped us make her a luggage tag (you can see my lackluster crafting skills here, but luckily Izzy doesn't care):

There's another Minnie sticker on the back too. I attached the tag to the Minnie backpack I got Izzy. Turns out that it's much bigger than I thought it would be when I bought it online:

So, not sure she'll be able to wear it. But, good airplane toy bag, nonetheless.

A few Izzy outfits:

The one on the left is for tomorrow evening when we meet Anna & Elsa. The one on the right is her travel/afternoon outfit.

For her Frozen Day outfit (Sunday), I have the white skirt I plan to have her wear with her Olaf shirt, but if she doesn't like that (she didn't like trying it on), I have these shorts as a backup:

Maybe girly enough that she doesn't get mistaken for a boy constantly? :confused3 I also got her some hair binders, but she has zero tolerance on that so far. So, we'll see if the skirt and sparkly princess shoes make the blue Olaf shirt less boyish.

And, finally, I had a little shopping spree again yesterday. This time for me. I just can't resist good deals. I peeked at the clearance rack at Target, thinking it would be cool if I could find some Disney shirts, since I have none (well, I have the Olaf one from last trip and a Halloween & Christmas Mickey/Minnie, but that's it). Score! I found three! For a grand total of $9, after discounts:

The one on the left is my shirt for tomorrow afternoon at the MK (layered - it's very thin!). The middle one is actually the same shirt that Lauren got for our June trip - didn't plan to copy her, but it was $3! I'll wear that for our Animal Kingdom day on Monday - Izzy is wearing a Minnie outfit that day too. The right side is my second Olaf shirt - I'll wear that tomorrow evening for the Anna & Elsa meet. Izzy and I will be Olaf themed! (Side note - nothing like buying Juniors clothes to remind yourself that you are indeed a thirty something mommy and not a junior - I forgot to buy a size up - the tanks are fine, but the Olaf shirt is TIGHT - good thing I only am planning to wear it for a short time! :rotfl: And before I consume all kinds of Epcot goodies the next day!)

My other shopping bargain yesterday - not Disney - was getting a Dyson DC50 Animal that retails for $450 for a grand total of $174! :cool1: We don't even really need it, but I couldn't resist! And, besides, the older model we have is from 2005 - still works, but who knows for how long - we'll eventually need this. And, for now, it will allow us to have one upstairs and one downstairs, which will be handy. Just had to share my deal!

Anyway, I'm all packed for the trip (minus a few things to add in the morning). I have Dug's backpack for my carry-on (misc. things and snacks for Izzy), Izzy's backpack of toys for my "personal item" (since she's not ticketed, she doesn't really get a bag), the stroller with a bag of things I want at MK but not on the plane (will put this all in the gate-check stroller bag), the travel carseat (just for the plane, since taking Magical Express), and one checked bag that the ME will transport. A lot of stuff for a 3-day weekend trip! :rotfl2:

I did online check-in for the flight and there is still an open seat next to me (as of this morning, at least). Hoping it remains - will make it a lot easier to convince them to let me bring the carseat on!

I also did online check-in for Pop Century. And then I called in an additional room request. I read a thread that indicated some standard rooms at Pop had views of the Frozen fireworks, so I tried to capture that in the request: lake view, top floor, building 3, room range 3430-3436 if possible. We'll see what happens. Would sure be nice to see the fireworks tomorrow from just outside the room after Izzy goes to bed, though! :thumbsup2

I think that's about all! Getting on the road to the airport at 5am to begin our mommy/daughter Frozen fun! :wave2:

*sorry I've fallen behind on the reports I'm following - will catch up when I return! :goodvibes

Yay! Have a great trip! We also take those early morning flights to MCO.
Great score at Target! I wish they would have Disney shirts in the non-juniors section.

Have a great trip! Can't wait to "hear" all about it! PS, love the Target finds! And yes, the Juniors section is a bitter reminder lol

Great deals!! And I LOVE those tank tops!!
You should definitely post a pic from Disney even if it's not a "real" update. We all wanna see!!
And while you're taking pics ;) can you do me a favor and snap some pics of your lake view if that request gets granted? That's what I'm hoping for on our jan trip but had trouble finding many pics of the view. Have a great time!!!! (I'm sure you will!!)

Not sure if you need a membership to access it or not, but touringplans website has pics from all the rooms, which is how I chose that list of room numbers!

Woah! Really??
I have a membership but I haven't really explored their site. I'll go check it out!! They have a lot of new stuff from when I last had a membership (2012)

That's was awesome!!
Sadly I discovered that the king room in the building I'd like is blocked by a tree :( but I could always check out the view by walking down the hall a little I guess. If I even got that request.

I found this a few days ago and finally caught up with the trip, next is the extras! I can't believe it took me so long to find it! You guys went a couple week after us last year. We had a blast too! And you hit the nail on the head, traveling with a toddler is drastically different!

I hope you are having a wonderful trip and Izzy is head over heels in love with all the Frozen summer fun stuff!:goodvibes

I'm late, but hope you're having an amazing time with Izzy! Loved the pic of you and Izzy in front of the castle on FB:goodvibes

Oh and me and you are twinsies. Just yesterday I bought that grey Mickey and Friends tank top from Target on Clearance! :cool1:
