Does anyone know what kind of Beanie babies are still worth $ especially on Ebay? I have a ton, but I don't know which are worth money and which aren't. Getting ready to have a garage sale and I don't want to let the good ones go for $1!!

Thanks in advance,

jennifer

Your best bet is to do a search on completed Beanie Baby auctions. There are some very rare ones that look to be selling and you might find that you can get more for yours as a lot than you can at a garage sale.

I'm a teacher looking for a set that includes a monkey, frog, lion, fish, snake, kangaroo, and eagle. I haven't seen any sets marketed this way on e-bay, but I know if I'm looking there must be others looking too.

I think you'll find that BB's aren't "worth" much anymore (not that they ever really were:rolleyes: ). Most people just want to get rid of them now, probably for the same reason you do;) .

ETA, I did an ebay search and found a lot of 15 BBs sold today for a whopping $2.99! You might consider $1 each at your garage sale to be a pretty good option! Good luck!

Are you just looking for these animals or is it a special set? I maybe able to help you out if you just want these animals.

I could probably help you out too... let me know if you are still looking.

Gone are the days of 150.00 beanie babies.

I just found out that I have 2 of the first generation beanies- one with a tag still attached ('squealer'), one without (a cow- I don't know the name). I have identified them via the 'tush tag' but that was about all I could figure out about them. I bought them when I worked at Paul Harris (a clothing store) right after college. I have no idea why they were carried at a clothing store, I just liked the farm animals and got them with my employee discount!!

Are these good ones to sell? If so, where?

I had a box full out at my garage sale. Sold one for $1.00, last year I sold quite a few at $2.00 but this year no one even looked. I even had a set of teenies for $5.00 (I can't tell you how many Happy Meals we ate to get the whole set!).

It is not a special set and I'm definately looking for those beanies for my classroom...:wizard: ...but I also think it would be a smart way to "market" those beanie babies on ebay if you have them. I don't know how to do a link but if you search for "beanie baby reading strategies" on the web you'll find it. I know there are other teachers looking for these specific beanies. I had the posters in my room (with no beanies) and every teacher who came in my room oohed and aahed over the idea.

BTW, It's not my idea I just found it on the web and used it in my classroom. I'd love to buy them if anyone has a grouping of those beanies.

Another thing you could POSSIBLY market to any teacher friends you might have is this. My mom has been teaching for ten years now, and each year when her students graduate from fifth grade, she gives them a beanie. She started out in 1st grade, so this was a big deal to those kids. You might casually mention to any teachers you know that your beanie collection would look great in their treasure box for a cheap price.

And just b/c it's funny ... my mom started doing this b/c she realized just what she had done back in the day with these purchases. They were everywhere in her house. She's going to be one of those old ladies who you can't walk through the house b/c of everything she can't throw away. I'm happy she started giving them away ... she's a collector ... of anything. Right now it's Disney purses. SIGH

Please don't sell them at a garage sale. Donate them to a local firestation or send them to a unit in Iraq to hand out to the Iraqi children. Find a unit at www.anysoldier.com These are small and portable for soldiers to take with them when they are out w/the locals. Email first to make sure it's something they can use though. Some units aren't dealing with any civilians or children.

Just a thought! I cut all the tags off mine and DH took them to Gulfport,MS after Katrina. (he was a 1st responder w/the Salvation Army). They were a huge hit and the kids loved them!!! Honestly, I felt 1000% better knowing something I used to love was being loved again by a child.

I have a huge bin of them. I contacted our local hospital and they were very happy to take them off my hands. They'll be given to kids who come into the ER or for surgery to help comfort them. My preference is to give locally, and its a non-profit organization so I'll be able to write it off on my taxes.

We have the monkey, kangaroo, snake, lion and frog if you are still interested we would be happy to work something out.

I donated around 350 beanies and 30 buddies to our local shelter after Katrina. It was a great feeling and the tax write off was a big help too. If they are new with their tags still on (and all of us who collected probably kept them that way :rolleyes1 ) you can claim the full purchase price for your taxes!

Please tell me.....

are the Webkinz that cost more than BB going to be worth a $1.00 next year?

My DD wants to collect so many of them. My younger DD was allowed to sign up one as a pet. DD8 signed up 4 - that is just too many. She enjoys them and keeps them healthy, etc. But she wants more of the stuffed animals "to have" and not officially adpot.

I actually just sold my collection of around 600 beanies for $240 and it was all 96-2001 beanies with perfect tags and most had containers. Oh well at least my closet is empty.

That is such great news! I've been planning to donate mine, and knowing I can get the full price for the write-off is a nice bonus!!

Ack! I goofed! I just asked my boss (CPA) and she said the rules are "fair market value or purchase price, whichever is lower". So I guess you can estimate what the "fair market" value is and take that. Which for some of us can still add up to a bit

I plan on keeping mine, I kind of enjoy digging out the buckets and going through them.
It was so much fun collecting them, at one point I had almost all of them.

I think the webkinz will follow the path of the beanies but that doesnt stop me from getting them, that website is just so much fun.
webkinz have been prety easy to find around here lately.
