Beanies worth $$???

They are actually to teach children strategies to help them be better readers.
The snake reminds them to sound out a word they don't know.
The frog reminds them to skip an unfamiliar word, finish reading the sentence - then "hop" back to the word to figure it out.
The kangaroo is a detective that tries to figure out what word would make sense in the sentence.
The monkey (Chunky Monkey) looks for familiar word chunks inside the word.
The eagle looks at the pictures for ideas about the word.
The fish reminds readers to put the sounds in their mouth, and say them out loud if they need to.
The lion reminds them to keep "tryin".

Most of the programs use them in a similar way, some are a little different than others.
HTH!

Hmmm that's interesting.

I'm guessing it depends on who is running the local chapter. The gal who does it here is happy to accept pretty much any size. I had some that were too big for the bags and I had a few beanies as well. She was thrilled to have all of them. She said she can make most anything work.

Makes sense to call and verify before loading them up and/or shipping them off though. :thumbsup2

ya i thought it was weird too, maybe because they are smaller sized? I dunno, but i decided to start a chapter at my college because this program seems so awesome i love the idea!! so thanks for mentioning it!!
