We gave Beak & Barrel another shot.

Our first experience was ok, worst part was we missed most of "the show aspects" because we were seated in a far corner and would have had to get up and move around to see them. We were seated with another couple and had great conversation.

We tried again this week and were amazed at how they were trying to jam so many people into the booths. Having been there already, we understood and had no problem being seated with another party. This was extreme. There were several large parties already packed into booths, people were basically sitting on each other. They would they try to add others to the table at the seats on the end of the booth. We were sat with a group of at least eight people jammed in the booth, they looked uncomfortable how they were arranged, and we asked to be re-seated. We went back outside and were seated after a few minutes. We witnessed several other ask to be reassigned after trying to be jammed into already crowded booths. They tried to sit a family with two small children at the booth we were originally assigned to.

As I previously said, I understand how the system works and have no problem with it. I think their system needs to find a balance between maximizing the profit/turnover and maintaining a pleasurable experience, jamming ten-12 people into a booth is ridiculous.

To be fair, it is the new hip spot to check out. So maybe on their end they're trying to make it so people CAN experience it, and wait less time? I'm playing Devil's advocate here, because I'm sure someone would take issue if the other scenario happened and they had to wait an hour+ their reservation time, or they couldn't get that reservation, or what have you.

I agree, it is unpleasant to be squished in there. Perhaps it will calm down and they'll solve that issue as time goes on. I'll let you know 3 times in January since I was able to snag some reservations.

Wow. We sat in one of those booths a few weeks ago and I can't imagine putting that many people in them. We were a party of two and were seated with a party of 4 who soon left (lovely family from Wales!) and were replaced with another party of 4 (another fab family decked out for that evening's Halloween party). 6 was comfortable. They maybe could have fit one more small child in there, but more than that?! Yikes. I understand it's very popular and they want turnover, but it felt very rushed, IMHO. We also had a hard time seeing the affects and took some time to walk around after we had finished our snacks. We had a much, much better, more relaxed experience at Geo-82.

We had ten in a booth in September. We were three adults and a child sitting in the booth with an other family of two adults and two kids, then a couple was seated along the outside of the booth. We’ve been like that at Oga’s several times, so it didn’t surprise me at all. Sitting isn’t too terrible. It’s the table that doesn’t have room once everyone gets a drink and some apps.
