I'm not sure this is the right board for this question, but I wasn't sure where to address it. We are going to be staying at OKW the first week of April. We would like to take 1 day to go to a beach (Gulf coast or ocean, either is good). I am looking for suggestions of beaches that would be good for a family during spring break (ones where the college kids don't go) that would make a good day trip from Orlando. We are actually flying into Daytona Beach as the airfare was MUCH CHEAPER than flying into orlando, but I don't want to go anywhere near that beach with my kids during spring break. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Cocoa Beach advertises as the closest beach to Disneyworld - don't know much about it though.

Sarasota is not the closest (about 2 hours one way), but is likely to have fewer college kids. Mostly retirees and families. :sunny:

Thanks for ideas. Maybe could combine a little Kennedy Space Center with Cocoa Beach or my husband had already mentioned the possibility of going to Sarasota on the 5th to watch the Twins minor league baseball team play in Sarasota that night. Maybe we could do the beach during the day and catch the baseball game that night. Anyone been to Siesta Key during spring break? How crowded would it be? Can't wait for vacation ... 9 more days and we will be there!!! Sun, warmth, no work, veranda at OKW (hopefully will get our water view), glass of wine and good book ... it just doesn't get any better than that. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Ok I have to take up for my beach. Daytona is actually a pretty decent place during the week (M-F). It's on the weekend nights during March and April of spring break that it gets ugly. We went last year and we're going again this year (April 1 - 7). We stay right near the bandshell. We took 2 13 yr olds last year and an 11 yr old. this year it's 3 - 14 yr olds and 2 12 yr olds. We are day tripping down to MK for friday so we'll be away from the beach friday night and leave sometime Saturday to make it home in time for Easter. But doing the weekdays and not the weekends in Daytona that week has worked well for us.

I think they're also looking forward to the daytrip to Magic Kingdom as much as the whole week on the beach.
