Beaches in Florida

I've clicked the link for Fort DeSoto, but I don't see any mention of fees. Does anyone know if there's a parking fee or any other fees associated with that park? For the museum or anything?

Thanks

I love New Smyrna Beach-sharks or no-but it is further than cocoa beach.

We'd like to take a quick day trip to a nice beach on the Gulf side (kids are 12 & 9). We just want to spend a few hours walking beach, digging in sand, collecting seashells and a bit of swimming. It would be nice if there was a place to shower off as well. Can you recommend a beach on Gulf side that is close to Disney (ideally no more than 1.5 hours)? Thanks,

Closest on gulf side is probably St. Petes beach. Basically just right off I-4.

Treasure Island, Indian Rocks, and Passe Grille also nice areas to go. Almost all public beaches will have bathrooms, but the showers may be outside so you shower with suit on and then go change.

We are going the first couple of weeks in February, do you think we are likely to get a beach day at all???

I have not come across any fees for Fort DeSoto. I could be wrong, but I think it is all free.
